I do not get intellisense working when creating a Property. How do I get intellisense to work here? Intellisense seems to work otherwise, just not with the Get / Set instantiations.

I have a Class A that inherits from a base class. In the class A i have build some methods/properties.What I want is that some methods/properties from the base class are not visible in the intellisense which makes it easier for a developer. Basically i want to hide all the methods/functions/etc.. which are no use.Is this possible whithout having to use the EditorBrowsableAttribute for every item?The best way would be to tell the class that it must hide all props/methods/functions/etc... and after that i can specify which MUST be visible.
'by default hide all props/functions/etc.... ????

When working with the code within a control's subprocedure if you type it brings up intellisense as you would expect: Code: sender. Within the intellisense there is no text property listed to select from however if you just type "text" after the "sender." it allows it. It also doesn't capatilize the T in text after you leave the line as you would expect to see when working with other properties. This is the first occurence that I've seen where an item was not included in intellisense but allowed it without errors. This is a big code saver and discovery for me as it cuts my other previous methods of extracting the control's text down to a single simple line.

I am a student in a Visual Basic class. We were working on a project using the Count property of the ListBox. I'm using Visual Studio Professional Edition 2008. When I enter a line in the editor that looks something like this: If lstResults.Items.Co
IntelliSense will generate a little balloon that says 'Public ReadOnly Property Count() I saw the () after Count and thought that meant that was the proper way to code it. So that is what I did. The code seems to work with ...Count() or just ...Count. I was wondering if there is some reason why the parens show up after the description of the Property in IntelliSense.

I just start working with VB. In a programme I need to keep the value in text property after programme closed.That is why I want to change (override) Text property in TextBox.Then this value will be default value when I open the programme again.I will assing a value to textbox1 in a Sub.
Sub button1_click
Textbox1.text="ttt"
End Sub
Then I need to change the Text value under "Properties" window.TextBox1 System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
I think there is Get-Set method for property override but I dont know how to use.How can I do that?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to create a intellisense type form for a rich text box word. Really I only need help with the code that gets the highlighted words location and places my form under the word to the left.For example: When I highlight a word in my RichTextBox and click on a button, a form of my choice would popup under the word to the left.

Is there any predefined property by which I can set the DisplayFormat/DisplayStyle of a textbox? Suppose I want a textbox to hold the actual value 888888888888.88 and show it formatted as 888,888,888,888.88. In short it should hold 'Double' data type value and show it with thousand separators and decimal places upto two digits. If text is cleared from the textbox, it should have 0 as value and 0.00 as displayed value. Also the number of digits in the textbox may vary accordingly. So how can it be done?

is there an option to retain Intellisense suggestions but turn off the auto-complete completely in VB 2010? Since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I find that Intellisense's auto-complete is far too eager to replace code. It often happens that while typing a section of code I will find that I need a new variable. Rather than back up in the code and create the variable, I want to be able to type on and add the Dim statement once my train of thought has reached a good stopping point. However, as soon as I try to use an undefined variable or method or property, Intellisense jumps in to replace what I have typed with gibberish.
I like Intellisense showing what methods, properties and parameters are available; however I would like to turn off the feature which automatically triggers auto-complete whenever I type ahead.

I find that each time there is a new line when enter key is press in VB intellisense is annoying. Although space is ok, but each time it has a new space and I have to press return to remove it, which is also inconvienient for multiple selections.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 Prof. In C# I can create my own Enumerator and use it like this:MyEnum value = Now, Intellisense will suggest a value of MyEnum. In VB, when I write:Dim value As MyEnum = I get a huge list of every types. When starting to write my enumerator value (could be a word like "sunny") it filters out some types but I would like to have it like in C#. Anyway I will use the MyEnum type and no "String nor Objecte nor IntPtr...".

I want to type the characters from right to left (to behave as a right alignment). But I am not supposed to use the Right Alignment property or the RighttoLeft property of a text box.For example, I want to enter the characters of a string from right and each character should shift one space left so that the user can enter another character after that.

I just upgraded a project from VB 2008 to VB 2010. Before, the project did not use LINQ. I have started implementing it. So, I have updated the target framework from 2.0 to 3.5, and added a reference to System.Core, and imported the namespace System.LINQ to the entire project and also imported System.Data.LINQ into the form I'm working with (because it was not available in the list for Imported Namespaces in the references tab).
It's not throwing any errors now, but my IntelliSense is not working for LINQ stuff.
For example... I write this:
[CODE]....................
Then, if I type S. on the next line, the IntelliSense doesn't grab what it should for S (Only get Equals, GetHashCode, GetType, ReferenceEquals, and ToString, instead of the options I should get like Count, First, FirstOrDefault, etc...). If I Type S.First. then its the same thing, no IntelliSense that lists the available fields for S, just the standard options (Equals, GetHashCode, GetType, ReferenceEquals, and ToString). I should be seeing my column names in my table when I type S.FirstOrDefault.
So any ideas what is going on? When I type the code, for example, MessageBox.Show(S.FirstOrDefault.FirstName), it works perfectly. But it doesn't change the casing of the text (so it would read s.firstordefault.firstname) and no intellisense while doing it. But no errors. BTW - Everything works perfectly when creating a NEW VS 2010 application, it's just my projects upgraded from Visual Basic 2008 that have this issue.

I'm having a few problems converting some code into VB.NET from C#. Most of the translating is done, but I am getting errors when I try to run my code, and I can't figure out what is causing them. Here is the Sub I translated.
Public Sub CreateWidget()
Dim blue As LCDColor
blue.Red = 0
blue.Green = 0
[code]....
The error I receive on this line ("vision.Widgets.CreateWidget(wg1)") reads "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user."

Anyways he used CurLine in the program and when I try to open it in Excel 2007 and then open the Visual Basic Editor and run the program I get the following error:Run-time error '-2147418113 (8000ffff)':Could not get the CurLine property. I am trying to assign a dataset to the TAG property of a textbox control in my application. The code seems to do the assignment without any error but I cant see the property TAG name or the assigned value using quickwatch etc. etc. The TAG property name does show in the design window.
Is this property useable in my version (academic 2002 version 7.0) or does the TAG and any assigned value it holds not show in quickwatch. I can only find 1 reference which seems to suggest the TAG property is not supported in early versions, but would prefer a definitive answer.
