Using Binary Serialization On XCData?

Mar 3, 2010

I'm creating an application that uses several "multi-leveled" structures (structures within structures within structures....) to store reference data.

<Serializable()> Public Structure ControllerType
Public Attributes As ControllerAttributeType
Public Description As XCData

[Code]....

Three questions:

1) Is the "CloneObject" function solution able to be used in my application?

2) If it is, what is the fix for the XCData typed objects?

VS 2010 : Binary Serialization Not Completing?

Jul 26, 2010

I am sending some data in a Serialized Structure across a TcpClient Stream to a Client. Now, sometimes the results get through, other times however, it does not. I've noticed this is true when the data I'm sending gets rather large. The server locks up at sending it and can't continue on.I'm sending this structure:

<Serializable()> Public Structure SearchResults
Public Property Results As String
Public Property Search As Boolean
End Structure

When Results gets kind of big (say, 411,000 characters in length), the server fails to send it, I get no error, and I end up timing out completely. If I connect via localhost", I get it instantly, so I know my code works. My problem is I've sent different structures with more data (2 million characters) way faster (nearly instantaneously) across the Internet (not localhost) in less than half a second.

Private Sub SendMessage(ByVal message As Object)
Try
SyncLock m_Client.GetStream
BinFormatter = New Binary.BinaryFormatter()

VS 2008 Binary Serialization And Custom Collections

I used the ideas from this post to create a custom collection of my custom class, so that I would be able to easily sort my collection. The problem is that my custom collection now breaks the serialization.I can't seem to figure out how to get the custom collection to serialize![code]

C# - How To Ignore Event Class Member For Binary Serialization

Mar 5, 2010

I need to avoid serializing an Event class member because when the event is handled by an object that is not marked as Serializable the serialization will fail.

I tried using the NonSerialized attribute on the Event class member but it fails to compile. This line of code:<NonSerialized()> Public Event PropertyValueChanged()

produces the following error: Attribute 'NonSerializedAttribute' cannot be applied to
'PropertyValueChanged' because the
attribute is not valid on this
declaration type.

Public Event PropertyValueChanged() ' compiles but needs the extra handling described below

Is there another way to avoid serializing Event members? This is not a problem if the event is not handled and I can work around it by cloning the objects (and ignoring the event) before serializing them. Just wondering if there is a better way.

I have figured out how to make a function to convert binary number to decimal number [code]With this code,a user can enter a number that isn't binary,and program will calculate it. How can I make that program doesn't calculate those numbers or doesn't accept anything else than 0 or 1? This is needed for other cases like octal and hexadecimal system.

Random File Access - Using Binary Sort Method To Find Record

Dec 24, 2011

I have a flat file that is sorted by account number. I am migrating an application that was in vb6 to .Net. The application uses Random file access and uses a binary sort method to find a record.

Here is the code
Do While (low < high Or low = high) And (f = 0) 'Checking for an account match
middle = (low + high) / 2
FileGet(FileNum, Record, middle)
If Account < Trim(Mid(Record.Data, Byte1Start, Byte1Len)) Then
[Code] .....

From reading up on this in .Net it seems that using the Binary Reader seek method would be the alternative to using old vb6 random access code. The problem is the Binary Reader Seek method goes by Byte position instead of record number. How to convert my code to use a binary reader.

Error Unable To Cast Object Of Type 'System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlDecimal' To Type 'System.IConvertible'

prm8.Value = emp.Bsc

I've used the money datatype itself even in the stored procedure variable.I get the following error.

Cannot Set System Data Linq Binary Field Using Reflection

Oct 24, 2011

I cannot get the following to work for me: its the section that sets the default for system.data.linq.binary. The database I work with doesn't allow nulls in any field. So I generally run my buffer through this routine to populate defaults and then set the real values independently, (this works when I miss a field). I can set the Linq table field = fakeBinary and it works like a charm. Thus, I don't understand why using reflection can't pull of the same thing.
Ex: Me.CM20500WindowBuffer.Reconcile_Messages = New Byte() {0} works.

Try
Dim fakeBinary As System.Byte() = {0}
For Each fld In nObj.GetType().GetProperties
Select Case fld.PropertyType
Case GetType(Byte)
[Code] .....
