how it might be possible to only request the FileIO permission for the data directory created by clickonce? I want to run my clickonce exe from the web, but I only want to request the IO permission for the data directory where I am storing some user files. Unfortunately, I don't know the directory when I build the project.

However the stand alone executable of the application,had a permission problem using filestream to read a file without an OutOfMemory exception, while selecting to split locatein certain directories like "C:".To solve the problem i checked My Project window and the "Security" tab, and i tried checking the checkbox: "Enable ClickOnce Security Setting" and selecting "fulltrust application". This added to my app.manifest these lines of code:

I created a program which was deleting a particular directory for me. The program was compiled and working. Today I run the same program...did not do any system updates and now it won't delete my specified directory. I ran tests to make sure the directory is there when testing...I keep getting access/permission errors.
I rebooted system, ran my application...still gave me error. I turned off Windows Defender...still got error. If I manually delete the directory...no problem.
Is there a way to get system permission to delete the directory? I am being given an 'access denied' error...I do not have permission. I tried running my application as administrator...no good. - VB 2008 Express - VISTA OS
my program read and writes into registry and has been working fine, until today when i tested it on a new server i got this error request for the permission of type system.security.permissions. registryPermissions, mscorlib,version=2.0.0.0. i checked the registry permission and made sure all allows are ticked.

But, at publish i get this error ClickOnce does not support the request execution level 'requireAdministrator'.What can i do, how can i go around. I can't make another app to start my app as admin. How can i disable ClickOnce? I have created a clickonce application with a file format to be associated with it. (publish -> Options -> File associations) I have tried to get the file name from command line arguments but i can't. I think that there is an other way to get it.
View 8 RepliesI have taken over support for a VB.Net WinForms application. When this application is installed via a ClickOnce installation it generates a shortcut on the desktop. The annoying thing, though, is that if you do a right click and properties on the shortcut that was created, it is clear that it is not a regular shortcut as it does not have a target tab, so it is not obvious from the shortcut properties what this shortcut is referencing. So my questions relating to this are: what is the idea behind this kind of shortcut? Why is the the target for this type of shortcut hidden? (What are they even called? This is the first time I have ever seen a ClickOnce installation, so was somewhat surprised when I found that the properties tab was missing.) How do you find out what executable is being referenced by the shortcut?

I have created a new icon using VB.NET and have saved it to the project directory. I then set the icon property for a form to point to my new icon file. The new icon shows up in the properties window but when the program runs, the title bar displays the default icon that you get when starting a new icon file rather than my new icon.

I recently ran across the FileIO library and have found that some of the advantages (such as sending an item to the recycle bin) are quite nice to have. Anyone says referencing the Microsoft.VisualBasic is often undesirable from within C#. Any association with VB from within C# code strikes me as undesirable. Using FileSystem class, this is a perfectly fine solution, but I prefer not references Microsoft.VisualBasic library. That one I would avoid.

I have about 1200 files I need to rename in a current folder structure and am getting an error that NewName must be a name and NOT a relative or absolute path.
The deal is that I have this in a loop where it grabs a Patient# out of a text file and looks in that Patients electronic record for the existing directory on a server.

It works for all PC files but fails for mac.

My initial idea was to find a div class similar to every definition, and in the source returned from my WebRequest there is always the div class:

So for example, if you search the term "lol" and view the page source, the definition for that term is wrapped as follows:
<div class="luna-Ent">laughing out loud; laugh out loud: used as a response to something funny or as a follow-up to something said only as a joke.</div>
My problem is that I cannot split the string, which contains the entire text from this web response, leaving just the above. Which I would further split to leave just the definition.Every time I attempt to split the string I get a bogus result with randomly cut up words and nonsense. There is only one <div class="luna-Ent">, so I have no idea why this isn't working when it does with a simpler string such as "lol?55?44" which you would split using "?".Here is the code so far, please excuse the crappy variable names. I always structure my stuff like that when testing?
