INSERT INTO Statement With Number In Access Database?
Nov 30, 2011
I have an access database that I am writing a SQL query to insert data from my datagrid into a table that I created.I get an error that I have tracked down to field types that I have created as a DOUBLE. Here is my SQL Query for creating the table -
[code]
("CREATE TABLE [SSR Shts_" & FullName & "]([ID] AUTOINCREMENT,[Division] Text(255),[Bid Reference] Text(255)," & _
[code].....

here is my code so far:
Public Sub cmdSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdSave.Click
Dim i As Integer
[Code].....
when i click the button, i get a error message saying "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". as far as i can tell, i have everything i need to insert a new row into the database, and i dont see why this problem is occuring.
item(0) is an autonumber key field, so that should make a new record by itself, and i have declared the input textboxes as the data() array

I have the following insert into statement. What I want to do is insert the values to gprdsql.TblOracleNos if TxtOracleNo is not empty, therefore if a user logs on and fill the textbox the values are saved to the table. However, if the oracle number exists in gprdsql.TblOracleNos (i.e, the values ) it should not insert the values, presently it creates the same record again with same values (when the save button is clicked) and this creates duplication. Instead probably bring a pop up message "Oracle number already exists. [Code]

I am receiving syntax error in my insert into statement when I try to use try and catch phrase. The highlighted one is the cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() . What seems to be the problem in my code? I'm using autonumber for the ID so I won't put it manually. I am able to insert records when I don't use auto numbering but I need it so don't have a choice. For my database, I only have 3 fields which are AdminID, Username, Password.

I am writing a INSERT Statement which will INSERT data into a Access 97 DB.Everytime i run the Statement from my VB.NET Code i always get Error in INSERT SyntaxI have narrowed it down to one DB Field - INSERT INTO TEMP (Size) VALUES ('" & varSize & "') - I have taken all the other variable out.
Is the fieldname "Size" a reserved name or anything in Access 97 and is there a way round this so my whole statement will work including the Size part?
I have some old VB6 code which was written by someone else who is doing the same insert but instead of INSERT they have created a VB6 RecSet and set all the values then used RecSet.Update to insert the row of data. Is there a VB.NET version of RecSet and Update.

I'm trying to import data from a VB form into a database; 5 fields, 1 being an auto number, 2 getting information from two text boxes, and the final two being data and time stamps. I've inserted the code, it runs fine but when I press the button to insert, I get the following message;
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException (0x80040E14): Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement. [Code] If anyone could point out where I'm going wrong, or if its my database connection that is incorrect, that would be a great help.

I am trying to execute a command that inserts a row but I keep getting the error "Database error Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement." What am I doing incorrectly? I know for Ole Db refers to the parameters by sequence and I've done in the correct sequence. I left out the ID since it is auto generated could that be causing a problem?

im in the middle of creating a little program that allows a user to search and if in admin mode can delete and add a new record to the database i have my search part working fine.i have made the query using the dataset.xsd query builder i used the select, from where query after making the query i have gone to my form and called it using Me. peopleTableAdapter. FillByPeople(systemDataSet.people, Me.peopleTextBox.Text, Me.peopleTextBox.Text, Me.ageText Box. Text, Me.ageTextBox.Text)my problem is how do i insert into by database using the dataset.xsd query builder and then calling it in the same way rather than doing dimcon as new ole.db connection as i have set my connection string in the settings of my application.i had made the query INSERT INTO Admin (person_Forename, Person_Surname, Admin_Username,Admin_ Password)VALUES (and listed the textboxes used to enter data here)and then i called it in the same way.
