InputBox And MsgBox Button Handling?
Dec 29, 2005
From my input box, if cancel is clicked, I want to exit the sub. Here is my input box, but how do I create an if..then to find out if Cancel was clicked and then stop running the macro?
myLPS = InputBox(msg, title, vbOKCancel)
Second thing, I have a message box that asks if the user wants to continue with Yes & No buttons. But, if I click No, it just keeps executing. I want it to execute from the end of an if..then if No is clicked. Here is the function called and my if..then:
If CheckOK(MLSName) = vbNo Then GoTo ClickNo ' this is at the end of this big if statement - ClickNo:
Public Function CheckOK(MLS As String) As VbMsgBoxResultDim message As StringDim title As Stringmessage = "Create Task for: " & MLS & "?"title = "Continue..."Result = MsgBox(message, vbYesNo, tite)End Function

I have a simple windows application that pops up an input box for users to enter in a date to do searches.
How do I identify if the user clicked on the Cancel button, or merely pressed OK without entering any data as both appear to return the same value? I have found some examples of handling this in VB 6 but none of them really function in the .NET world.
Ideally I would like to know how to handle the empty OK and the Cancel seperately, but I would be totally ok with just a good way to handle the cancel.

I have an assignment that asks me to:
1. create a button
2. when that button is clicked, an inputBox will appear to ask the user how many words they will enter.
3. then display an inputBox for each word.
For example, when the first inputBox appears, I enter "3" (meaning that I will enter 3 words). Then there should be 3 more inputBox (each inputBox allows me to enter only 1 word)After I enter the third word, there will be no more inputBox.How can we FLAG (stop) the inputBox, or let the inputBox know when to stop showing up?

A friend of mine has requested my assistance in making a "panic button" application where you place the directory, click a button and boom. Directory deleted. You might assume this may not be the most legal application. I have already figured out how to delete directories due to this MSDN post. My code is near the exact same.
My problem is, I want to make sure the button is fully intentional. So I added a MsgBox with Yes, No, and Cancel. As you can see below:

I have to make a modal form for my main form, so I used frmCompany.showDialog(me) method. This frmCompany shows a msgbox to ask if user has to continue without entering the phone. User may press yes to proceed with saving the record or no to get back to the form. But if no is pressed frmCompany closes along with the msgbox.
ElseIf tbPhone.Text = "" Then
DialogResult = MsgBox("Phone not entered. Continue?", MsgBoxStyle.YesNo, "Warning")
If DialogResult = MsgBoxResult.No Then[code].....

Quick question on the InputBox. I am just learning this, what is the code to "read" commands that are placed from the Inputbox? I can do this in the command line: System.Console.Writeline(), System.console.Readline()
I just would like to know how read the line from the inputbox. Also when I debug my script do I -always- need to have the command prompt in the background?

I am creating a function and want to have IntelliSense pop down the list of valid options for a certain parameter in the same way that the MsgBox function behaves when you are typing your argument for which buttons you wish to include (such as MsgBoxStyle.OkCancel). I have done my best to search the internet but haven't found a thing which comes close to what I'm seeking. My monkeying around hasn't produced a satisfactory solution, yet, either.
A related additional thing, which I can live without but that would be nice to have, is the description of the current parameter, which appears below the function description as shown highlighted below MsgBox (Prompt As Object, [Buttons as Microsoft.Visual Basic.MsgBoxStyle = MsgBoxStyle .DefaultButton1], [Title as Object = Nothing]) AsMicrosoft.VisualBasic.MsgBoxResult
Buttons: Optional. Numeric expression that is the sum of values specifying the number and type of buttons to display, the icon style to user, the identity of the default button, and the modality of the message box. If you omit Buttons, the default is zero. This is my first post. I'm relatively new to VB .Net.

Reading about VB .NET I found out that now it is possible to handle more than one control with the same event handler. What I want is to specify what my Radio buttons will have to do, using a single sub instead of using a sub for each of them. However I am still far from achieving that. I am using something like that:
Private Sub ForAllRadioButtons_CheckedChanged_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RadioButton1.CheckedChanged, RadioButton2.CheckedChanged, RadioButton3.CheckedChanged
If sender.name = RadioButton1 Then
Code 1 ...
ElseIf sender.name = RadioButton2 Then
Code 2 ...
ElseIf sender.name = RadioButton3 Then
Code 3 ...
End If
End Sub
However, I get an error message which says :
Operator '=' is not defined for types 'Object' and 'System.Windows.Forms.RadioButton'.
I bet 100 $ that it's something that I don't do it right . Unfortunately I can't get that money. Would it be the same if use the Click event instead of the CheckedChanged ?

I have a search field and button on my master page. When a user types in a search term, and hits submit, I would like the search results to display in a content page.
What would be the best, most logical way of handling this?
I thought of using FindControl on my content page to find the button, and then somehow figure out if it had been clicked or not...but my logic quickly spiraled downhill.

I was once using a program that was under beta, so the creator added a nifty feature. You could enter any vb.net code into a textbox, and when you pressed the button next to it, that code was executed. For example, you could type MsgBox("hello") into the textbox, click the button, and it would run that code as if you actually put it in the source code and ran it. I've googled so many different phrases trying to find out how to do this, but I can't find anything. Anyone have any ideas or resources I can look at?

How do you make an Inputbox without a title?
I know you can do it this way:
inputbox("Please answer a question", " ", "")
This way you put a space in the Title property.
But is there another way to do this without putting a space in the Title property?
Maybe there is an inputbox without a title in vb.net?

VB has a function InputBox() that will prompt the user to enter a single value, then click OK. Is there a parallel functionality in ASP.NET, that will get the browser to pop up some kind of input box to return a single value? If not, how do you recommend I achieve this effect?
