Insert New Records Into A Table With Visual Basic Using OLEDBConnection
Dec 7, 2010
I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Express and Access 2003. I'm trying to make sql querys to the mdb file. I'm using OLEDBConnection. The Select query works fine, but I can't insert rows in the table. Here is the code.
Dim connStr As String = "provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;data source=" & System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() & " pv.mdb;"
Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection(connStr)
con.Open()
I have this piece of code wich works perfectly when inserting records into one table using records from another table. My question is that now i need to create another table by using records from 3 other tables (tables are related). Can i use aliases on the column names, like on Oracle SqlPlus? How will be the syntax of the 'INSERT INTO SQL statement?
Dim MyConn As ADODB.Connection Dim MyRecSet As ADODB.Recordset Dim tmpSQL As String MyConn = New ADODB.Connection
I do this in Oracle databases just in a snap, but now I have to do it in VB using ADODB and I don't know how to do it.
I have two Access 2007 tables. Table A contains: Col1 (text), Col2 (text), Col3(date), Col4(amount), Col5(text)
Table B contains Col1(date), Col2(amount) What I need to do is to insert into table B the records of table A (col4 summed) grouped by date of table A. The date is a variable contained in a text box so it cannot be hardcoded into the SQL statement.
I have a database that has two tables in it. One is a table of items (table1) and the other is the table of current items (table2).On form load I need to generate a random amount of the items from table1 and populate table2 with them. I was trying to do something like this:
I am a asp.net convert to VB.net and very new to VB.net(visual studio) I am trying to insert some records int a table. It seems the same code in asp.net does not work in VB.net. Here is an example of what I am trying to do
Dim Conn as New SqlClient.SqlConnection Dim cmd as Ne SqlClient.SqlCommand Conn.ConnectionString = "Data Soure......yada yada yada..."
Relatively new to VB.NET coding. Am creating a pretty simple console application that needs to insert over 50,000 records into an Oracle table (OleDB connection). I tried 3 different methods so far: Individual INSERT, insert using a dataset, & using INSERT ALL (commit every 25 records due to # of columns). It seemed like most articles/posts I read recommended the dataset approach, but the INSERT ALL code was definitely the fastest by far.
I would like to insert records a user selects from a gridview using check box column here is my code which inserts the first record then on the second interation it gives the error."The variable name '@Customer' has already been declared. Variable names must be unique within a query batch or stored procedure." [code]
I am rather new to vb.net using SQL CE. This is using 3.5 framework. I am trying to use a button to insert records into a table in a SQL CE database. Rowsaffected returns a value of 1, but when I preview the data, the row is never inserted. The sql statement I am using uses hardcoded values only because I am trying to get this to initially work. Once I can get the insert statement to work, it will use variables based on user input.
Here is my code that I am using: Private Sub cmdInsert_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdInsert.Click Dim connstr As String Dim rowsaffected As Integer connstr = ("Data Source =" _ + (System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection .Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly.GetName.CodeBase) _ + ("jhepfner.sdf;"))) [Code] .....
The original database that I am using is c:jhepfner.sdf. When I run this, connstr shows: Data Source =Program Filesjhepfnerjhepfner.sdf; In server explorer, it shows the connection string as: Data Source=C:Documents and SettingsCompaq_OwnerLocal SettingsApplication DataTemporary Projectsjhepfnerjhepfner.sdf
My responsibility is to build a vb.net function that when a scanner scans an object, it would take the scanned string and call a stored procedure to get a row of data that match that scanned string and pass the data row to an application that would print out a label. below is my vb.net and sql server stored procedure script 1. Do I have to come up with a public class in order to store my row of data to pass it on to a different vb.net application that would take that data row and print out a label? 2. In my stored procedure, how would I return the founded data row to the vb.net function?
I have a form that contains a Textbox + Three sets of radiobuttons.
my project idea is to store in any database the values selected or entered by the user.
Textbox goes Name.
First set of radiobuttons are the job position - manager - superviser etc.... Second set "" "" the Period (Shift)- day - nite Third set "" "" The Condition - part-time - full-time
Anyway, my problem is how to insert those values into a database, something very simple such as MSAccess (is possible?)
In my application, I open a "Customer Details" form and on confirming I have to delete all records from other 2 tables (Order & OrderDetails) of the database. I am not able to delete records. It somehow stops by on - ordDetAdap.Update(ordDetDs) . The code is as follows :
[Code]...
There may be N number of Orders and each order may have N number of OrderRedetails. There are rows and also shows proper data in MsgBox, also row.Delete works fine, BUT why does it stop at Update(OrdDetDs) I can't make out. Any idea where am I going wrong.
Also Is their any easy way out to delete all records using just a single statement providing OrderId from OrderDetails table ? As of there are 10 rows of a single order, then For loop will iterate 10 times and delete 10 rows, instead if I can delete all 10 rows at once would be beneficial.
I'm doing a simple database thru VS2008 and Msaccess without using any builtin relationship between records, now i need to know how i can retrieve specific data from access using the oledbadapter or any, example seek if the value from the textbox1.text is already existing in msaccess table then msgbox "Record already exists.", note that the code is in keypress event of the textbox1.
i have the following function to update my database:
Public Function Alterar(ByVal registro As Bancos) As Boolean Dim Key As EntityKey Dim OriginalEntity As Object = ""
[code]....
i want create a change log, to do this, i need pick up every records changed and insert it in other table to make a log.How can i pick up this changes?
I need to open an MS Word document and insert a picture to it using VisulaBasic 2008 by clicking on a button. I tried the automation code provided at this link [URL] but I can't find how to do what I want.
I used the following code to print out my database. but it is print out empty page, I would like to be able to print database from visual basic.I know how to go about it? the following code is print empty page. Private Sub PrintDocument1_PrintPage(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
I've created a table in SQL and inserted specific information into it programmatically. Now I need to export this whole table data, including headers into txt file (tab delimited)- from within Visual Basic project (Windows type application).
how to edit and update in relational table's record in visual basic 2010?
have two tables with Relationship
1, Orders
2, Order_Details
"Orders" Related with "Order_Details" ( OrderID )
now i want to Edit and update. Record in "Order_Details" ( "Pencil" to "Pencils" ) Then Update changes
my code is below
Dim CurOrder_DetailsRow As OrdersDataSet.Order_DetailsRow CurOrder_DetailsRow = CType(CType(Me.Order_DetailsBindingSource.Current, DataRowView).Row, OrdersDataSet.Order_DetailsRow)
cmd.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM [strfg].[dbo].[Myfunc] (@MyParam)" Dim myparam As New SqlParameter("@MyParam", a) cmd.Parameters.Add(myparam)
The function (runnig on SQL server) returns a table with four columns, one row.How do I call this function from Visual Basic? cmd.ExecuteScalar() is obviously not correct. In c++ I use a recordset. What is the equivalent in vb? Does anyone have a short example?
Assuming that an x64 version of ADOX is not available, how do I rename a Microsoft Access table from an x64 WinForms app using an OleDbConnection with the Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider?
I'm at the end of my tether now.I'm trying to build a website which takes its information from an access database. ASP.net seems to be the answer, so I've downloaded Visual Basic Express 2008 and Visual Web Developer Express 2008 and I'm following a tutorial to learn the basics.
I can't seem to get the OleDBConnection and the OleDBCommand functions to come up in my toolbar. I've created a ASP.net Web Application, a Webform and tried "Choose Toolbar Items", where I've ticked the box for both, but they still haven't came up in the toolbox. This is the last step in what has been as steep learning curve for me.
