Interface And Graphics :: Make A Listbox's "backcolor" Transparent In 2008?
Jun 19, 2010
I have a form and on it there is listbox. What I want to do is to make the listbox's backcolor transparent. I really do not understand. I have searched many sites but I couldn't find an exact answer. Is it really that hard to make it??? I found this code on a few sites:
i am making a program with graphics and im using a picturebox for a button. The image inside picturebox is transparent .gif. The problem is that i don't know how to make picturebox transparent. I searched the internet but all exaples didn't work. Does someone know how to fix this problem?
i make a Form transparant where i dont want form background. So say like i got a round form and i can transparant the white background of the round even possible?
on the form i have a groupbox with a few textboxes and labels inside of it. Behind the group box i have a picturebox image. I want this image to be seen around the textboxs etc.. through the groupbox
Ive tried changing the background colour in the properties to transparent but you can still see the background colour and so the groupbox covers up the picture.
I want the background of the groupbox to be completely transparent.
I made a game in VB 08 and I have sprites and a background but I need to know how to make the background of the sprites transparent.I'd like to note that I'm using a picture box for my sprite, and the game is animated (I read that those things are relevant).I've read a lot on bitblting but I don't understand it, and when I found a helpful article it mentioned to use the .hdc. This article though was made before the introduction of GDI+ which now makes it harder to obtain said .hdc.
i'm working on Virtual K770i project - there is a picture of mobile, now i want to create clickable areas on "keypad" of mobile....I'm got idea about transparent label or something but transparency dont work on any object but Form1 - so how to make transparent clickable areas on picture box (see a picture)
I am attempting to write a simple 11ball style game. It requires images of poolballs overlapping each other. Since the balls will need some internal intelligence I was hoping to create them as usercontrols.I am having trouble gettiing the control's background to be transparent.Setting the background color to (Web) transparent only makes the background clone the form background color.
I'm a second year A-level student (12th Grade U.S. equivalent) studying Computing, Physics and Maths. I like anime, PC gaming, climbing and mountaineering. That's an insight to who I am. Thought I'd add it here to my first post since I couldn't spot and introductions section.
The scrollbar that comes with the ListBox is too small for touch screens, so I use my own scrollbar instead. But when you do this on various forms you end up repeating a lot of code. So my solution was to create a custom scollbar that has a property I can set to the control I want it to be a scrollbar for. In vb6, I can use the withevents keyword to get access to the control's events so that all the scrollbar related code can be in the custom scrollbar object I created, except...I had to create a refresh method for the consuming code to use to let the scrollbar know when the number of items changes. The scrollbar doesn't need to be told how many items there are because it has access to the control, but for a listbox there is no event to tie into when an item is added/removed so not 100% of the scrollbar related code could be encapsulated.
On my form is a listbox. When the user clicks insert (in the menu) then I add a blank item in the listbox. The user then enters the data and then I want to update my listbox with the value(s) the user entered. The problem is that I don't see the update in the listbox, unless I reload it from the database. I'm trying to build a custom ListBox control as inspired by the 'Audi Infotainment System' on high-end Audi vehicles. The only difference is i would like to have a 'boundary' where when scrolling up/down moves the actual list up or down. Basically, i would like my list to act like a normal ListBox except i would like to show say one or two items above and below normally only visible items.
I don't usually use VB but now I must for an assignment. I would like to know if it's possible to change the display name for an object on a listbox. For instance, if I add to it a user defined class, there's a way to provide it's display name, instead of converting it to string and then add it.
This is what I have
Dim format As String = FormatOutput(object) Lista.Items.Add(format)
I would like to have the same output, but instead add the object.
Note: if such is not possible, then how can I associate the list box selection to the actual object? Doing it by index is painfull, because I'm using linked lists (ie., instead of arrays).
Note 2: python has a __str__ method which is called by default when the object is cast to string. Is there anything like it in VB?
So now I will try to make something more complex, still playing around with this graphics thing.I want a picturebox to display a tileset (a bunch of 32x32 tiles normally used for creating game levels etc), the picturebox is inside a container (which has autoscroll ON). The picturebox is larger than the container, so the container will make scrollbars automatically. Now, I need to be able to choose a tile or multiple tiles (if I click & drag the mouse)Basically I want to draw a 32x32 "red" box over each selected tile (so the user knows what tiles are selected). So first of all, I need to know when the mouse clicks the picture. Good. It works. Now, I need to know which 32x32 tile was clicked. Well, I think I can calculate that just fine.BUT, what if the user drags the mouse while clicking on a tile? I want to support multiple tiles selected, but I am clueless about tracking what tiles were chosen. If we solve that problem, I would have another curiosity: You know the "red boxes" that tell you which tiles are selected? What would happen if I dragged the scroll bar? I need the redboxes to move along with the picture, and hide if they go to an invisible area.
I am trying to incorporate in my vbdotnet application a form in which I would like to make a thumbnail from an image. So what I have is two picture boxes, one with the source image and the other with the destination image, I would like to crop the image from picture box 1 and display it on picture box 2, but the way I wan to crop it is not giving the coordinates of the selected area box but to simulate a selection area box in which the mouse can move the box and select the area of the picture to be cropped. This selection area box would give me the coordinates i need in order to proceed the cropping. The problem is I don't know how to create this selection area box. It is like doing the cropping on a graphic design software like Macromedia Fireworks, Adobe photoshop, even paint.
I tried to create a lineshape and make it visible when a timer ticks. Also tried to set everything that would matter when creating it(border colors and thickness etc)
But still, I got no results.
Code: Dim line = New Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.LineShape(CX, CY, ccx, ccy) line.Parent = New Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.ShapeContainer() line.Enabled = True
I have a red, green, and blue color that I am making with this method:
Code: Dim Red1 As Color = Color.FromArgb(75, Color.Red) and a brighter red:
[code].....
Any recommendations? I like the fact that 255,255,255 is white. Is there a way to create color by combining three colors that were made from argb? I may just have to make my 20 different colors set and then refer to them.
im making a program that needs to make a new button for each .exe file in a directory? Kinda similar to PortableApps program that will recognize each program in the directory.
I am using the following code to place a rectangle around a form / form control, however what I want to do is make my screen grey and only the form / form control area be displayed in colour.
Code:
I have googled for ages trying to find something on this, but with no luck.
To illistrate this better they are using the same functionality in snagit 10, please see below link to a page that has a video link showing this (23 sec into video)[url]
what shall i do if i want to make a label's backcolor transparent or even just looking like transparent? VB.NET doesn't support transparent label backcolor.
I'm using a rectangle shape with gradient fill, i wanted to write some text on it using a label and set the labels backcolor to transparent, but does not work.
i have a label and from its properties for Backcolor i choose Transparent... However is always the control color why is that? I have a background and i need the label to have the background`s color..
I can make the background color of the form transparent by using: "Me.TransparencyKey = Me.BackColor"
"Me.BackColor" is set to default "Control", which I think uses 240;240;240 as the color. But using that color as the transparent mask color leaves gaps in controls who are also using that color.By changing the Me.BackColor to a "rare" color this problem is fixed. What problem really is, is that using the "Control" color I get the ability to ALSO interact with whatever is behind my form, which any other custom color does NOT.
Question: Why is this?
Request: I would like to use a custom color as the transparent color but KEEP the ability to interact with whatever is behind the form, how can I make it do that?
