I want a clickable area (that can handle MouseClickEvent, DoubleClickEvent, etc...) that is transparent, hence you can look through it.For example: I have Form1 with a bunch of buttons, text fields, etc. I want a clickable area that is over the whole Form1 (thus over all the buttons, etc).If you click this area, the clickEvent for this area should be could and not the eg: button underneath this area.Most importantly of all the area must be transparent, thus all the buttons, textfields, etc underneath the clickable area should be visible. Something like a panel or pictureBox that you could put over the buttons would be fine, but a if you drag a panel/pictureBox over a button, the button is invisible, and if you say send to back, the event of the button will be called and not that of the clickable area.I want the blue area (in this case a picture box) over ALL the buttons and textboxes, so that if you click this blue area a function should be called. This area should actually not be blue, but transparent/colourless, so that you can see the buttons underneath. If I say send the picturebox behind the buttons, then when I click on a button, the button's function is called and not the picture box's function as I want it.It is impossible for me to change all the event handlers of the buttons/textboxes etc, because I also use components that don't have the necessary event handlers that I want.

So this is the only possible method I can think of.

faster way to flood fill an area of a bitmap? It basically acts just like the fill flood bucket in MS Paint. clsBitmapImage is a Bitmap variable.
Code:
Code:
Public Sub FloodFill(ByVal AtPoint As Point, ByVal newColor As Color)
Dim oldColor As Color = clsBitmapImage.GetPixel(AtPoint.X, AtPoint.Y)
If oldColor.ToArgb <> newColor.ToArgb Then

If I have a control, in this case a button, can I restrict the area it considers valid for text?
In the attached image, the left and right arrows are custom drawn in the paint even, I also have a scroll timer that scrolls the text if the length exceeds the buttons width as measured by Graphics.MeasureString.
I want to restrict the text from red line to red line so when the text scrolls it does not interfere with the arrow indicators, can the text area be overridden to some custom region?

on the form i have a groupbox with a few textboxes and labels inside of it. Behind the group box i have a picturebox image. I want this image to be seen around the textboxs etc.. through the groupbox
Ive tried changing the background colour in the properties to transparent but you can still see the background colour and so the groupbox covers up the picture.
I want the background of the groupbox to be completely transparent.

I made a game in VB 08 and I have sprites and a background but I need to know how to make the background of the sprites transparent.I'd like to note that I'm using a picture box for my sprite, and the game is animated (I read that those things are relevant).I've read a lot on bitblting but I don't understand it, and when I found a helpful article it mentioned to use the .hdc. This article though was made before the introduction of GDI+ which now makes it harder to obtain said .hdc.

Code:
I have googled for ages trying to find something on this, but with no luck.
To illistrate this better they are using the same functionality in snagit 10, please see below link to a page that has a video link showing this (23 sec into video)[url]

I am attempting to write a simple 11ball style game. It requires images of poolballs overlapping each other. Since the balls will need some internal intelligence I was hoping to create them as usercontrols.I am having trouble gettiing the control's background to be transparent.Setting the background color to (Web) transparent only makes the background clone the form background color.

I've problem with clearing all the drawings I've created in my PictureBox. In fact I've created animation which stops after certain time and remains on the screen. The animation is created/painted with collection of about 25 TextBoxes - input of a user. Now I've added a button which clears all that info in TextBoxes and also should clear PictureBox -ictureBox.Refresh(). The problem is when I add new info in 25 TextBoxes nothing appears in PictureBox and I can't start an animation. Wondering why...

I managed to combine two .png images into one, and then display the result in a pictureBox image.However, the pictureBox seems to scale up my image! Makes it bigger!The pictureBox size is 96x128. The two images I have combined are 96x128. The pictureBox's SizeMode is set to "Normal"I have noticed that even though the pictureBox's image seems to be zoomed, it is cut to keep the 96x128 rect. But I don't want it to be zoomed...

I've been searching for days. I can't find anything that I think is going to work. I've probably read the answer and skipped it because I don't get it. I'm new. I've researched multithreading, sub routines and webbrowser. The webbrowser thing doesn't seem professional to me.
All I want is the animation to be smooth when it's displayed and to have it integrated into the app so it's not called from the local drive.The animated gif is in PictureBox3. Please point me in the right direction. I really don't want to use a static image.

I'm making my first 2D game, and I've created an object inherited from a picturebox, to use as a little man. I've tried to make it move using a timer, but I'm not satisfied with the result. Sometimes the speed seems to change for no reason.

Problem1: I have a picturebox on a form. I have also managed to draw several PNG files with transparency onto the picturebox (see below). However, If I move the form outside the border and move it back, the image is gone. My source so far:
Dim k1 As New Bitmap(My.Resources.image1)
Dim k2 As New Bitmap(My.Resources.image2)
Dim drawMe As Graphics = PictureBox1.CreateGraphics
Dim bgcolor As Color = Color.FromArgb(128, 128, 128)
drawMe.Clear(bgcolor)

My project needs to print a large PictureBox which during runtime only part of it is shown (as it's too large, width=4000 pixels and height= 2000 pixels) and to see the rest of the picturebox, user needs to scroll through the vertical and horizontal bars. On top of the picturebox, there are many controls which are loaded and positioned by user on run-time. Those include lines, labels, another picturebox
with image and user-defined controls. Now, i need to write a print function which will print that picturebox to not too many pages in A4 size or A3 size. Not too many means less than 5 for both paper size.
1) How can i print the whole picturebox with all its contents and go to next printing page until the whole PictureBox is printed? I tried using the following code but
(i)The image of picturebox inside that picture box and user-defined control are not printed whereas others are printed. Why is that so? How can i print the picturebox including both the "un-printed"?
(ii) Even i can print out the picturebox, only the part where the picturebox is shown is printed. How can i print the whole picturebox including those parts which needs scrolling to reach?
Private Sub CmdPrint_Click()
Dim rv As Long
'Picture1 is the picturebox to be printed.

The problem is that i am trying to resize pictures so they fit into a picturebox with good quality. I have found a code (se attached code) on the internet that resize the picture correctly but the quality is poor.
If i resize the picture in Adobe photoshop before i put it into the picturebox the quality is good so there is nothing wrong with the orginal picture or the picturebox. It's the resizing that is the problem.
Here is the code.
'Generate new image dimensions
Public Function GenerateImageDimensions(ByVal currW As Integer, ByVal currH As Integer, ByVal destW As Integer, ByVal destH As Integer) As Size

If I try to draw a circle by using e.g.
Code:
e.Graphics.DrawEllipse(Pens.Red, 50.133, 100.321, 0.1, 0.1)
I will get an error message. I tried something like
Code:
Public ObjectPoint As PointF
Dim cpoint As New PointF()
cpoint.ObjectPoint = New PointF(startX, startY)
e.Graphics.DrawEllipse(Pens.Blue, cpoint.ObjectPoint, 0.4, 0.4)
but it didn't work for the location and the circle size. How to draw a circle(and rectangle) by using floating point numbers?

Ive been working on creating a side scroller game, and the back color of my pictureboxes needs to go. when transparent, it shows through the program and onto whatever is active in your Windows os(usually Visual studios).
I am trying to rip pixel color off of the background image picturebox( the level), and replace parts of the character picture box that show transparency with the level art. there may be poor logic in my code?
Heres my code:
Dim newImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox1.Image)
Dim backImage As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox2.Image)
Dim ximg As Bitmap = New Bitmap(PictureBox3.Image)
[code]....
not the best idea, but all i get is one color for all the level pixels placed in the new image, which is odd. any poor logic you see in this code that could allow the newImage.setPixel not to be 1 color? when i breakpoint, it is recieving different colors from the backimage.getpixel, but only putting one shade on for setpixel somehow. im not going for an accurate color read from the background yet, just wondering why im getting 1 pixel color for the whole picturebox background when being changed.

I monitor door cameras with a third party application that gives me multiple video windows for the various video inputs in the card. I want to create an application that will overlay the video windows so that each video window becomes a button I can click on to trigger some events (lock release for example).
I've managed to get something working by using the TransparencyKey of the form set to the backcolor of my button. I though I had it done, a great transparent button in the form, and handles all my click. However, there's a little issue with portability... it won't work if I have the Windows Classic theme enabled.
One of my systems is locked down with the windows classic theme. With the Windows classic theme (whether running XP or Vista), the transparency works a little too well, the mouse clicks actually go through to the underlying window and the click event never gets triggered on my application's button.
Button1.BackColor = Color.Cyan Me.TransparencyKey = Button1.BackColor
