I am using vb 2008 express and i am using the backround worker component. I am trying to change the value of progressbar1 to 50. Whenever I type progressbar1.value=50 in the DoWork section for backround worker, it says I need to use the invoke command because I am on a different thread.How do you use the invoke command to change the value of progressbar1 to 50?

View 2 RepliesIt was pretty simple in VB6 to invoke the 'click' event of a command button (i.e.; btnNext_Click). I am having difficulty trying to do the same think in VS2008.

The problem is that, when I call the "SetStatusBarText" sub from another thread, InvokeRequired is True (as it should be), but then my threads stall on the Me.Invoke statement - pausing execution shows them all just sitting there, not actually invoking anything.

I had problems with treeview methods, but when I run them using invoke method everything is ok. But I still have one problem. When I load the form for the first time, everything works fine. I know how to invoke, safely, the control from which it was not created from a thread. there are threads being processed in a threadpool, all of which calls an "agent" (which is a notifier to raise an event back to the UI to then increase the progressbar). an "agent" is set as a property in a State object, which is then passed into a method which will be executed on the ThreadPool. so, I invoke on the UI the method to update the progressbar, but the bar does not seem to update at all (screen frozen) and it takes a very very long time for it to execute. without threading, no problem.

I have code, shown below, that works all except for 1 thing: The variables being passed byRef get passed, but once modified in the else section of the "if me.invokerequired" code of RecordData, the variables are never updated in the calling function. To reiterate, the calling function does not receive the updated data that is in the variables custid and amt.When debugging, I see the data change in the else section of "if me.invokerequired", but once it returns from the callback the data is missing.[code]

From a macro I am accessing a command that is on the toolbar:

I am using the following code to run defrag and to analyze if the C: drive requires defragmentation:

This process runs through analyzing, runs it in normal mode & prints the progress to the command window.
My problem is that as soon as the process is complete the command window closes. I need it to stay open so that I can read the results.

View 3 RepliesI am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.
