is there a possible way, without using Invoke, to call lame.dll inside a .net project? Attaching it has a resource? I keep getting an error that lame.dll can't be added to the project, I guess thats because it's built in c++.

But is it possible to have my own progressbar inside my application form to show it's progress? Because when using the command from my application, it just converts and doesn't show anything.

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right area, but here goes anyway. I've been working with sql databases for practice, but can't seem to get around one thing; after I add it as a data source, I can't go back and add tables.
I start off by going through the project, then add item, choose the service-based database, and go from there. I add the tables, then go in and add it as a data source.
After I've added it as a data source, I can go back into the .mdf form and add lines and edit properties, but it wont update in the data sources. So, I can't add it to the form.
I have a very simple class that crashes the VB.NET IDE when I added this list. Granted this is a list with 10,000 items but it crashes when I added it to the project. When I delete it with a text editor outside the project does not crash. I have not installed SP1 based on the comments not sure if this is a know problem or not. I can post the project its fairly small as its just text.

I've created a database in Access 2007 and connected it to Visual Basic 2008. My database have tables Coachee and Coach. Details of Coachee are displayed in one form and there's a button that when clicked will show details of the Coach of that particular Coachee in a another form. If the Coach is not in database, user will be prompt to insert a new Coach record. Problem is, when saved, the newly inserted record will not be displayed and i have to exit and rerun the program, only then the record will be displayed.

I'm trying to learn how to call functions in C DLLs from Visual Basic programs. I'm new to VB but have years of experience in C programming & want my functions to be usable by people who are more familiar with VB.
I managed to create a C DLL & call the functions from a C program. One difficulty I had was that I wanted to put my DLLs in a MyExes directory so I could easily have several unrelated programs call them. It was far from obvious how to tell the compiler & linker to look for the DLL in some arbitrary folder but I eventually found out.

Now one of my difficulties with DLLs & Visual Basic is how to tell Visual Basic 2010 Express to look for functions in a DLL in some arbitrary folder. I tried to use Project->Add Reference, then in the Browse tab went to the folder & DLL I wanted to use, but got the message box:"A reference to C:ProgramFilesMyExes....dll could not be added. Please make sure that the file is accesible and that it is a valid assembly or COM component."I've tried to find a walkthrough to take me through the steps of using C DLLs in VB 2010, but so far had no luck.

View 7 RepliesI am a beginning programmer and am having a problem with adding a record to a customer table in a Microsoft Access database. I have worked for hours reading my textbook and troubleshooting to no avail. When I execute this code below the record is not added and I do not get an error of any type. When I go into debug mode, all of the parameters are correct and everything looks good. If I open up Access I can manually add the record but using my program nothing happens. All datatypes are string in VS and text in Access.
First an instance of the Customer Class is created and this seems to be successful. But when I take that customer object and run the AddCustomer method of the customer class it is not successful in that the database does not reflect that the record was ever added. [Code]
I have a program that adds controls on the fly to an auto-scroll panel. When the panel is scrolled (viewing the bottom of the panel for example) and a control is added, it looks like it is added assuming the top left corner of the panel is still at 0,0 when in fact it may be 0,500.
