I am trying to find a method of listing all fonts installed on a system. I attempted to use the InstalledFontsCollection, but it doesn't seem to list all of the fonts. I am not going to use the fonts. I just need to verify that the fonts exist on the system so that I can pass them to an external tool that does see and use the fonts.
Dim missingFonts As String = ""
Dim prefFileName As String = System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(prefFilePath)
Dim ce As New ConvertEquations
I am working on process for validating documents to make sure that they meet corporate standards. One of the steps is to make sure that the Word document does not use non-approved fonts.I have the following stub of code, which works:
Dim wordApplication As Word.ApplicationClass = New Word.ApplicationClass() Dim wordDocument As Word.Document = Nothing Dim fontList As New List(Of String)()
I'm working on a program (Under Visual Basic .NET 2008) that draws text on a PictureBox using a font that is already installed (registered) in system fonts. I'm wondering how can I perform the same but with a font that is not already installed on system, by adding this font file (*.ttf usually) to my solution explorer and use it in my program, given that this font file must be included in exe file.

Is there a way to look through the cache for all objects in the cache? I'm dynamically creating objects and I need to periodically go through the list to purge out objects I'm no longer using.
I have 2 linked DB tables, Artists and Albums using ArtistID as the primary/foreign key. When I want to add a new Album, I have a new form open and I can fill a combobox with the list of Artists to choose from and edit all the details then save to the database.
However, when I want to edit the Album info, I can't seem to get the Artist associated with the Album, as well as all the rest of the Artists from that table, (in case I need to change the Artist associated with the Album). The information required comes from 2 linked tables, so that's where I'm getting lost.An example of this is when a person edits their profile on a webpage, for instance, a list of countries is usually listed in a combobox and the one selected is the country they selected when filling out the form previously, however, they still have the option to change it.
I have a button inside a one of my forms which contain a lot of coding and normally a lot of variables declaration.
Is there is a option/add-on that I can use/set that enable me to display all the variable used inside the sub or function I am currently working in?
All I can find is add-on to display the Properties/Methods and only Public variables inside the form or inside the class. but I need to list the local variables also.
I am trying to remove my current item in for each loop if some criterai matches but its triggering error after removing and looping again.

I have searched the web for code relating to changing the system volume, muting the system volume, and outputing the current level of the volume as an integer, using VB.NET.
All the code that I have found either doesn't work, or is very long.

I am trying to change 2 textboxes so that they show the current list view selection. When I click to change the selection the program crashes. Here is my code:
Private Sub BookmarkListing_ItemSelectionchanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItemSelectionchangedEventArgs) Handles BookmarkListing.ItemSelectionchanged NameBox.Text = BookmarkListing.SelectedItems(0).Text LocationBox.Text = BookmarkListing.SelectedItems(0).SubItems(1).Text End Sub
I wrote a Log class that details the exception, including the method name and its arguments list, but I couldn't find any way to programmaticly retrieve the arguments values.in some forums it was said that its impossible mission. I find it very odd.my arguments list looks like:
argA As String = ? argB As integer (Opional, Default value = 2) = ?
I've been searching about how to list and remove or create all list of the ports forwarded on the current machine. So I can allow my app to create a port to allow the "chat". Wondering how this is possible. I saw many samples on net, tested most of them and none worked properly. Is there a possible way to edit ports with visual basic 08 or 11?
I am trying to write a program that shows the user the current system time and date using progress bars in VB 08 Express but don't know how to start it, I am having trouble with getting the program to refresh the minutes and seconds progress bars
I am currently redeveloping my web browser application using the axWebBrowser component. I have, up to now, managed to port most of the code from my previous application, which used the standard webbrowser component. How would I retrieve a list of links from the current web page displayed in the axWebBrowser and display them in the DataGridView? The following code from my previous application is giving me an error. [Code]
I have converted c# .cs to vb:= I have 6 errors on:
Red "List" says Too few type arguments to system.Collections.Generic.List(Of T)' Orange "Calendar" says Value of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlCollection' cannot be converted to 'Form1.Kobush.Windows.Forms.Appointment'.
We are thinking about changing our current database system, MS Access 2007 front end and MS SQL Server 2005 backend to using a higher level language such as Visual Basic .Net. I wonder if this is the BEST solution for data management? Currently, among others, we have two big database programs that handle more than two hundred users and it's crashed often. That's the reason we think about changing to something that can handle these database programs effectively preferably using MS technology such as .Net.
What's really the point in using the former? It's hard to use linq if I used the former. I have to convert that to an array first which is difficult because there is no (asarray) function.I think I would change all of my code that's using System.
Collections.Specialized.StringCollection to System.Collections.Generic.List(Of String)
I'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:
Dim infoReader As System.IO.FileInfo infoReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("C: estfile.txt") MsgBox("File was last modified on " & infoReader.LastWriteTime)
This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.
I'm trying to match a certain DateTime value with the current system DateTime. I have a timer and a label on a form. Timer interval is set to 1000. When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.
