I am trying to do a program in which I would like that program load with Windows. Ok, When I restart the computer and when I arrive to the desktop, program did not run. I am doing all this in Vb 2010.[code]...
I've successfully saved video files into SQL server as varbinary. Now, my problem is, how can I play those videos in Windows Media Player (embedded in my Windows Forms).
I have my rpg, still, first time working on it n ages, and I want each user to be able to set their own personalized picture background for the game...
each character in the game has its own dedicated folder for each file that the character has relating to it...
what I want to know how to do, is to have my game copy the loaded/chosen background image to their respective characters data folder, and have the game reload/reset the games default background image, to the one piced by he player...I am having a hard time figuring out how to do this however...I've tried a lot of different things...and nothing is working yet...
In class i saved my program in with load of other test programs for the same assignment and got everything mixed up i finally figured out what was what and loaded the program in Visual Basic. Now my program doesn't recognize one of my forms when i try to access the design view of it. I hit run for the hell of it and the program runs with errors of course but the form1 "the missing one" shows up with all the buttons etc and i can use it.
i have a application that i designed for an assignment which uses a DB (ACCESS) However when i publish the application it fails to load even though the application completes. I have managed to find that it is the database that is not copying over, how do i solve this (the db is located when debugging and is also in the project files)
I am working on moving applications from Windows 2000 to new server Windows 2003 R2(64 Bit). I noticed that there are some VB programs and config files for those programs have been placed in Windows 2000 Registry. Some other applications are using them from different servers. Why do we use registry here? How can i move these to registry in windows 2003? Can I just move these or do I have to write VB programs to place them in 2003 registry?
I have a .net Windows Service developed in VB.net. I have a settings file in the root directory called Connections.XML and I am setting the basedirectory [code]...
When I schedule the service this is working absolutely fine in my Windows XP machine. But when I installed the same service in our development server (Windows 2003 64 bit Server) for some reason it is not able to locate this file.
I have developed one class library using .net 3.5 framework and i am using this in another project developed in .Net 2.0 framework, in this case i m getting the following error. Could not load file or assembly 'AssemblyName, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I made a form with some code in Vb.net 2008. i saved it as DLL-file. Now, i only need to know what code i need to add to my program to make the program load the windows form from the DLL file and open it.
Is it possible to to load it by code? code the file-path and all that?
Because im making my program's different functions as DLL-files so you can customize the contains of the program =)
Followup to a previous post: It's been determined that Windows Device Drivers cannot be written in VB.NET; that's being dealt with separately.
What I'm interested to know here is if there's a DotNET Framework facility for adding/removing/managing device drivers; for example, can I build a VB.NET application to list loaded drivers, or drivers attached to a specific device, then load or unload those drivers as needed? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.
I am creating DLL file using c# .For that i need one DLL file. That is created in VB.so i just i add that dll file into my project via add reference option. But when run the projects am getting this error.
Could not load file or assembly 'BOL3, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
1. Does Windows load the .Net framework at boot time? How can I check (eg. some DLL running in the background)? How much RAM does the framework use, so that I check I have enough to pre-load at boot time? Once loaded, will it stay in RAM?
2. What is the point of JIT once the application is installed on a given computer? Are there drawbacks about compiling into binary code applications that I use often on my own computer so that no time is wasted recompiling the application every time it's ran? If not, can I compile apps for which I only the .Net bytecode?
3. Is the framework downward-compatible, ie. will a 2.0 application run if I only have the 4.0 framework installed?
I'm developing a program which would be the only program user will use. What i mean by this is once the windows is up, my program will run and blocks users from accessing any other program installed or comes with Windows such as internet explorer, email client, games, etc.. unless user puts password for getting out of my program.
BTW, the OS will be Windows XP.What i want to accomplish by having this is like below:
1. No one would be able to use internet (= no virus)
2. No one would be able to change system time (= no record corruption)
3. No one would be able to install any program (= less system maintenance)
My program is Kind of interactive Kiosk program only certain user can access windows and other programs. Also when it comes to system maintenance, I will remotely access the computer using pcAnywhere or teamviewer like remote access tool.So after exiting the program, i should be able to use entire system w/o any restriction.
I'm trying to find a way to pass a file extension to get the file extensions 16x16 image that is registered in the windows file types if that extension is registered that is.
I'm trying to make my application compatibile with Vista/7 UAC so I created a manifest file that gives me adminstrator rights which works great but the only problem that when my application tries to run with windows (via registry key I added) the application just won't run, and ideas how to run my application with admin rights when it loads up with windows?
So in my window onLoad method I am pre-populating a grid with values retrieved from a database. Here is the method below for the window load:
Private Sub winMain_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ''#Load Grid Dim dt As New DataTable With dt
[code].....
What happens is, when I press F5 to debug, the program loads, and the grid is still empty, just as it is without a datasource. When I try to step through the code, it actually reaches down to the line that reads
and then stepping over this line...the window loads and it doesn't go any further in the method. What the line of code above does is eventually make a execution call of some SQL to a SQLite database, and the code gets to the point at which it calls the execute method, but doesn't even make the query yet. All the objects up until that point in the code are set properly as well (found through debugging and checking locals.)Edit:Exception is this:
"Mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v2.0.50727' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information.
I have a program and have been trying to put it in to modules (instead of just one massive peice of code) and was thinking I could make some of it as "mini programs" and run them when needed.
1) Is that possable?
2) Is it a good idea? (the "mini programs" would not be needed to run the main program just used very rarely for changing setting etc)
I have a windows application that has a tab control with 5 different tabs. Each of these tabs has a datagrid view that is populated with data on form load with data from SQL Server. I have an event handler for the datagrids for CellValueChanged that appends an asterisk, "*" to the tab, when a change is made, this is meant to mimic the same behavior in VS or SSMS. The issue that I have just realized is that on page load as the datagrids are populated this event handler is raised thousand of times. I have included an If Then statement to exit the sub if it occurs during page load, but am concerned about the performance implications, if any. Is there a better way to handle such functionality? Possibly a way to ignore the event handler on form load? If not is there a negative impact leaving this functionality in?
Basically what I want is for the program to have an extension/directory called "Flash" and then when you click button one for example it will get that file. Anyone know how to do this and make it work? I have the following AxShockwaveFlash1.Movie = "/flash/flash.swf"
I'm trying to make a custom skin maker for a program I'm working for. The concept is, you provide all the images needed for the program in a folder and then load that folder into the program which then sorts out each image in their respective areas. I know how to load files, but instead of making the user load the files one by one I'd like them to be able to load them from a folder. On a related note, I'd also like to know if it was possible to allow my users to move their controls around the program. For example, say they'd like their exit button in a different location as it'd look nicer with their skin, is there a way to allow them to move it? Particularly, it'd be nice to have a check box that enabled or disabled the ability to drag them around so they don't accidentally drag it when trying to click it.Also, how could I save their changes to this skin so it'd load up the same every time without overriding the default skin.
Finally, I have a piece of code that allows me to drag the form around as it has no normal border but I have a button that keeps it on top at all times, I'd like that button to also disable the ability to move the program while active and restore the mobility once clicked again. Here is the code used to move the program if that helps any.
