I am doing a small MS Access database based program, but I got one problem. Instead of loading the the rows like this (each nr is the count of the row):
"1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10", it loads it like this: 7,8,9,10,1,2,3,4,5,6
Here is my code for where it loads the data:

How can i set a specified order in crystal reports for categories.I have for example 3 categories namely 'Recipe', 'Plain Spices', and 'Horeca'....The crystal reports shows them in ascending or descending order but i want Recipe data at top, then Plain Spices and Horeca in the end...!!How can I achieve this in my crystal report that has already been made?
View 2 RepliesI am building VB.NET application that takes data from text files that are exported from a legacy DOS program. These are written to a datatable and displayed in a datagridview. Right now my code simply loops through the datagridview and inserts the data into the database (SQL Server). There is a requirement now that the client number must be checked before the insert to see if it exists in the database. If it does, then the value of one field (tax rate) is checked against the value of the field in the datagridview. If there is a difference, then the rate is to be updated in the database and the data that was in the database is to be written to a history table for audit purposes. If the client number is not there, then we are to do the insert (which is already written). I want to know what is the most elegant and efficient solution for this problem.
I need to compare what is in the database table with what is in the datagridview, update the history table for records that exist, and then insert new records.
I have written general module to transfer the grid values into respective textbox. For that I pass Listview control of form & parent control ( e. g. groupbox ) of textbox.
The module loop trrough each column of grid & store the value in respected textbox ( the textbox names are identical as that of grid column) It works fine, but when I pass tabcontrol it does not work
I have a question and I hope it is a simple one. I created a form that "on-load" pulls a value from a .mdb query and assigns the value to a variable. This value is used in generating a new primary key for an associated table. The form works perfect except that if I close the form, and then reopen it, it does not give me the updated value which is written to the database. I know in VB6, you could use the "unload" method to exit a form and when you "loaded" the form again it would start new with the updated value. How do I go about this in VS08? If you don't understand what I am saying, here's the example...

I have a few combo boxes that need to be loaded up once and displayed multiple times (whenever the main form is opened) The reason for this is because it's taking about 10 seconds for the form to load each time it's opened due to unnecessary re-querying. Here is an example of what I have as a combobox source and what I've done. I've put the query, connection, etc... in a module and call it on the login form - I don't get any errors but the data does not load into the combos.

The problem is this: I have two forms. One form and the other form do mathematical calculations. I want to save the values that the user inputs, so when the user quits the program and then starts it up again the values are still there. But when I open up the program, start typing in values, then calculate them, hit quit. Try to open up the program again, its giving me a message that the input file is invalid. When I click ok, the program doesn't crash, continues. But the values are not there at all. The other form I put exactly the same code, just changed the variables and it doesn't want to save the values at all! I wrote this code for saving and loading the values:

I have the following code to get the column names from my Microsoft Access database.THE PROBLEM is that the stupid thing orders it alphabetically for me. How do I get it to put the columns in order the way they are in the database?[code]I've also tried a different approach with a string array and for loop to "make it" go to the beginning, but proves my point that its stupid enough to order it for me.

I am creating an information access system. Here the notifications created by the admin will be visible to the user through a visual basic form and sql database. I need a maximum of 20 notifications and the last created notification should appear at the top in the form. Also when the 21st notification is created it should automatically delete the 1st and so on.

[code]I notice that when step debugging the program, the file is not being read in correct order.Example: it will read the record with "B" in the D01 field before a record with "A" in the same field.The record with "B" is the second record in the database.I do note that all records in the database are read before exiting the loop, just not in any apparent order.

I am reading a record from a database into a datagridview.I have changed the column "ComputerAwareness" from a textbox column to a combobox column.This column is at the 21st position in the database but after changing it to a combobox in datagridview it is diplayed as the first column in the datagridview.How can I keep the position of this column same as in the database?I have googled a lot for the solution and tried all the possible ways but none seem to work.One of the ways I tried is in the code below.

VB 2010 Express + MS Access 2003
today I successfully configured an interface to work with a test database I created in MS Access 2003. The database consists of only 8 records with 10 fields.
I used the basic built-ins with VB 2010 to build the interface in a simple form which shows only 6 of the 10 fields. It all seems to work well, that is the connection string built correctly, and I can run the program and view the individual records. My trouble is that when it goes to the 1st record it's actually the 3rd record in the database. And when I go to the last record it's actually the 2nd record in the database and the next to the last record is actually the first record in the database.
why the program seems to start at the 3 record and shifts the first two records to the end. All the records show up, it's just that they are somewhat out of order.
I am using GUID for uniqueness (Guid.NewGuid.ToString), but while getting data from database some time GUID order is mixedup.

(I am using sharpzipwrapper)Whenever I try to run the code for the copying & zipping it gives me an exception saying that the file cannot be zipped as it is use.Do I have to close all open connections in order to backup the .accdb file? I am getting data from an SQL Server database and displaying the data on a Windows form.How do I navigate through the data in a Sequential Order or Sort Order using the the REP_ID number? Example: When I use the navigation to move from one data to the other, can I go from; example: 100001 to 100002 and so on?

View 2 RepliesI have a databound Datagridview. The DGV is bound to a datatable of a strongly typed DataSet created using the wizard. Is there any way to re order the columns before displaying them eg: the Columns are displayed in the DGV in this other Col4, Col6, Col3, Col1,Col5, Col2
But I want to it to show as Col1, Col2, col3, Col4, Col5, Col6?
I realise that the display order followed the Column order in the database table and by extension, the datatable. I have re-arranged the columns in the Database but the Datatable still retains the old order.
i have a custom SiteMapProvider which I populate from a database. I also have a custom SiteMapNode which has to be constructed with a custom Page argument.[code]Should I return false in AuthorizeCore() to have everything work according to default authorization protocols? (What are these?) Or should I throw my exception.SiteMap.CurrentNode is Null / Nothing (in AuthorizeCore()) if the page which is requested is not accessible to the user (obviously). How should I change my implementation? I want to keep the functionality that the Page objects are only loaded once, so I need to store them somewhere.
