Loop To Count And Accumulate Numbers Does Not Work?
Mar 23, 2011
My loop that needs to count and accumulate the numbers from a list box does not work. When I debug it reads the first line of the Do While loop then jumps to the code where it would average the numbers. Here is my code:
'calculate average
'get first item in list box
lstListBox.SelectedIndex = 0

designing a Windows based computer program that will allow a user to enter some number (n) and a choice of a count up or count down for that many numbers. So for example, the user enters 5 as their number and selects the count down option, the message box displayed would contain the message: "Here are your numbers: 5,4,3,2,1,0"

Does a For-Each loop in VB have an iteration count, or would I have to do that myself?

i m trying to run a query on an MSAccess table, but it does not give me any count but only 0.
There are 3 null values which i should be getting but it does not give me the result. This query works perfectly in MSSql Server 2008.
the query is :
Quote:
SELECT COUNT(*) AS Cntr
FROM (Modul m LEFT OUTER JOIN
Relation r ON m.Mod_Name = r.von)
WHERE (m.[group] = '')
I need a workaround for this but am unable to find one.

I need to count a large amount numbers in short time.As a result the CPU jumps to 40-60% on 4-core PC.Which is extremely high.I have any idea that will lock up the thread for some time, but not actually slow or reduce the amount of files that are allowed to be counted per a giving time period.
Vb.net
Application.DoEvents()
Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)

This loop takes forever to run as the amount of items in the loop approach anything close to and over 1,000, close to like 10 minutes. This needs to run fast for amounts all the way up to like 30-40 thousand.
'Add all Loan Record Lines
Dim loans As List(Of String) = lar.CreateLoanLines()
Dim last As Integer = loans.Count - 1
For i = 0 To last

I have already a Pretest loop that counts the number that the user inputs and displays a message. I need to change the Pretest loop code so it will count down instead of up from the number of times entered by the user.I have already coded this:
vb.net Public Class frmMain Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click Me.Close()End Sub Private Sub txtNumTimes_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtNumTimes.KeyPress

As you all know, If the dataBase requires a numerical value then an error will occur when the user tries to insert the incorrect data type. With the code below after the user types in a value beside an int value type then it will go into an Loop through more than what is needed. How can I apply the same logic but allow the program not to check the 60 rows (I set the row size to 60). I want to break out of it if there are blanks ONLY if a row is blank and not for a black cell, because if the user leaves one cell blank then it would loop through the 'for each' for how many rows that they is. Initially there are 60 rows.
MIS
For Each item As DataGridViewRow In dgvLaser.Rows
If IsNumeric(item.Cells(3)) Then
Exit For
Else
MessageBox.Show("Check Record Count. Numerical values only..!")
End If
Next

I am using a label inside my loop to get a count on the number of records processed by the loop. during testing of the program I noticed that if I load a smaller Table( 1000 records) my label stops refreshing after about 110 and my mouse turns to an hour glass. The program finishes and the label returns the correct count when complete If I load a larger table (10,000 records) it works all the way through???

I cannot seem to make my for next loop work for a class project. Essentially, I have a list box that is populated with strings of numbers. I am required to use a loop to sum the total of the numbers in the list box and display them in a label. I chose to use a For Next loop. However, it's not working. I'm getting an error when I try to convert the strings to decimals.[code]

VB.NET While 1 = 1
Dim localRecv As New StreamReader(localClient.GetStream)
Dim aString As String = localRecv.ReadLine
localRecv.Peek()
MsgBox(aString)
End While
Basically "aString" will keep updating if new data arrives to the server. This way does work, and keeps MsgBoxing every time I get new data, but I don't wanna use While, I need something else, because It won't run any other code, just keeps looping that. :/

I can use the below code snippet to clear the text from each textbox on a form.
For Each ctl As Control In Me.Controls
If TypeOf ctl Is TextBox Then
ctl.Text = ""
End If
Next
But if I want to use it to ensure that all radiobuttons in a group of radio buttons are unchecked then it doesn't work i.e.
For Each ctl As Control In Me.Controls
If TypeOf ctl Is RadioButton Then
ctl.checked = false
End If
Next
I'm assuming it is because the checked property is not common to all controls.

I have a text file (*.txt) with a name in each line, like this:
Joe
Dane
Lisa
Kelly
Now I want each name added with a number from 1 to 99.
Like this:
Joe0
Joe1
Joe2
[code]....
I have folowing code:
For n As Integer = 0 To (numbernames) - 1
strContents = objReader.ReadLine()
For i As Integer = 0 To 100 - 1
[code]....
With this code all happens ok and a new text file is created with the desired name-list with added numbers.The only problem is that the last name doesn't get a number added from 0 till 99 but for example 0 till 17.

I created this ASP.NET Web application and I can't get the amoritization table(MonthlyPaymentBox) to loop correctly. I think the problem is somehow in my code I am setting the TotalLoan = 0, but I just can't locate where that is happening. I assume this because instead of of starting the current balance at the users input, it starts at 0.

I am trying to make a loop to calculate the total costs for 12 days of costs. It has to compound sort of though. I need the total = cost for day 1(includes day 1) + cost for day 2(includes day 1 and 2) + cost for day 3(includes day 1, 2, and 3).....up to day 12. I have a for/next loop in my array, but it calculates the total for 12 days, but I need it to add as explained above. I have been strategizing and the program needs V= day 1 then add V to T. Then V needs to clear and then loop again so V=day 1 + day 2 then add V to T. Then V needs to clear and loop again so V=day 1 + day 2 + day 3 then add V to T and clear V.........up until all days are added together. If anyone has any suggestions or any idea of what I am talking about please comment! Here is the link to another forum that might explain the program in more detail:
Here is the code for my program so far:
