Jul 17, 2011I have an API that loads into memory from a button click. It can then either load an approx 10MB txt file (ASCII comma delimited characters/decimal list as a string) or live timed data from the internet. The idea is to be able to view the data in a text box. From there I can see what I am doing as far as spitting that info into a datagridview or database. The data is completely out of order in the txt file but has various Getinfo Functions / DLL's accessed via button clicks that split the data into its correct format to display in the text box. The problem I am having is not having fixed length strings in VB 2010. I don't know enough to work out if there is a simple work around or something more complicated required. Everything I have tried has left the textbox empty.

The problem is strange... it will let me input string lengths of 3 for Person.Name and Person.Description and it will save correctly, however, the moment I try and lengthen the string (or even if it's longer than 3 to begin with), I get a 'bad record number' error.

Nov 19, 2009If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?

Its in a For loop that generates random numbers then counts each instance of them given a user upper and lower bound + number to generate.
The loop:

intRandom = rnd.Next(intLow, intUp + 1)
intArray(intRandom - intUp) += 1

I have a global intArray() and then a reDim intArray(intUp - intLow)
intLow, intUp, and intGen are where the user upper and lower bounds are stored. Any help on why its throwing this would be appreciated I'm pretty new to this and can not figure out why.

VS 2005 Tree View Full Path Function Gives Invalid String
Oct 3, 2009I thought I was done with the tree view control until i realised that my tree view control was behaving differently when it came to sub nodes . I have attached my treeview pic and also a sample tree view.

Since I clicked on subfolder1 i was expecting the msgbox to display D:Folder1Subfolder1 but unfortunately the msg box doesnto even have the name of the node i clicked on but when i use selectednode.text I get the correct node text. Anyways why isnt my full path working. I then tried manually designing the entire scenario using tree node editor and the code which i mentioned above works. But whenever i populate the trr programatically the above problem starts.
AxOWC11 No Longer Being Recognized
Apr 14, 2010I haven't touched a project in about 8 months. It's ongoing for work, but hasn't really been published fully so it gets worked on in my spare time. I went to recompile and the build failed. It had previously worked. I can't figure out why. Part seems to be due to AxOWC11 being recognized, but it shows up in the namespaces. I'm looking for the .dll that shows up as AxOWC11.dll, but I'm not seeing any. I do have one that shows up as AxInterop.OWC11.dll and I do have just a OWC11.dll in my list. I've posted some of the errors below.
