View 1 RepliesI have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?

I'm looking for some simple code that lets me create a Microsoft Access table via code.Currently all I do in Access is write and retrieve data from specific tables but now I want to be able to create them at runtime. Here is an example of the code I use to load some data just so you can get a feel of what I'm currently doing. Hopefully there is an easy way using the same rough way that I'm currently dealing with databases.

im making a gaming tool for my Call of Duty 4 server. Not sure if anyone here plays it, but it uses an ingame rcon command tool that you use for admin control on your server. Well i wanted to make a program that i can control my server without having to log ingame to do admin stuff. I seem to be having problems tho. Im trying to have my program retrieve current information on the server but can't seem to retrieve the information. I have been reading serveral UDP tutorials trying to learn udp and tcp. Im definately still new to all this and trying my hardest to learn. Here is my code. I commented parts to explain what its for incase noone knows what it is for the game.

I have tried making a shortcut to the VPN on my desktop and calling it with the Shell method but I get an error saying file not found. I have also added the shortcut extension ".lnk" and still have the same error.

How would i get the primary key id number from a Table WITHOUT making a second trip to the database in LINQ To SQL?
right now, i submit the data to a table, and make another trip to figure out what id was assigned to the new field (in an auto increment id field). I want to do this in LINQ To SQL and not in Raw SQL (I no longer use Raw SQL).
also, seond part of my question is: i am always careful to know the id of a user thats online because i'd rather call their information in various tables using their id as opposed to using a guid or a username, which are all long strings... i do this because i think that SQL Server doing a numeric compare is much (tentative use of the word 'much') more efficient than doing a username (string) or even a guid (very long string) compare.
In a program I am creating, i want to let the user add and remove fields on an entity, lets say "people". So I have a table named "People", with ID and Name columns. Now, I want to let the user choose "add field" in a webpage, define for instance "email" field, and then use "ALTER TABLE" from the codebehind to create the new field in the table. What I want to know is: is this recommended? It seems like a simple way to do this, but since I have never seen any other programs doing it like this (Using ALTER TABLE statements from codebehind in a live environment) - and since it changes the design of the DB -

I need to Update Access Database Table with Data from a Different Table. Not all the rows of original Table to be Updated will be affected. How do you loop through the 2 Tables to do the required Update.
The Table to be updated is called "RecordList" and Table with new Data is called "RecListReport".Every attempt I've made won't work. I tried to Use 2 Datagridviews but couldn't get it to work right.

I then have a number of table adapters for connecting my business logic to the database , One of the queries inparticular is a pretty large one and requires extra time to complete however the connection is getting a timeout error. When I checked the adapter connection with Dim connection2 As Int32 = Adapter1.Connection.ConnectionTimeout This shows the connection time out to be 120 seconds but the timeout is still occuring after 30 seconds.

how do i make i VB .net application/tool (any sort of) like a professional one, for eg. if my tool is doing some task when i click a button which takes say 1-2 mins. , then during that phase my app should not look like it's hung (plain white window) if you know what i mean .
