Making Button Connect / Disconnect To / From A VPN Connection
Jan 13, 2010
I have a VPN connection set up on my computer. I am trying to make a button in my VB.NET program to connect/disconnect to/from the VPN connection. I have tried making a shortcut to the VPN on my desktop and calling it with the Shell method but I get an error saying file not found. I have also added the shortcut extension ".lnk" and still have the same error.
For an answer to this questions I've been looking years from now, then I couldnt find it and now it's complicated. I am working on a project to fully manage a computer's connection, it can check IP, change it, etc. But, I really, really need a function to sucessfully connect/disconnect a PC from the ineternet without promps or other screens, IPCONFIG and DHCP command aren't useful!, im exploring RAS but couldnt come to anything yet
I'm trying to create a program that will disconnect/connect you from the internet.Example:When I press F10, I get disconnected from the internet. When I press F11 It connects me to the internet.
I am thinking about creating a program that when a browser (such as IE) opens it will turn my connection to the internet on, and when the browser is closed it will disable my connection. What type of things do I need read upon in order to accomplish something of this nature?
I'm fairly new to VB.NET and I'm looking to create a module that will contain all general SQL functionality like connect, disconnect and execute a sql query etc. I think I'm almost there but the code keeps bombing in one place. Can anyone see what is wrong with the following code?
I am building a chat client/server. And I can connect and chat just fine, but when a user disconnects, the server does not recognize this and acts weird, often spamming the last message that was sent by the user..Also, it's like the client does not disconnect from the server even when I close the client app. Once I exit the program, VB acts like it is still debugging. Once the server is shut down however, I get this error:
IOException was unhandled:Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
serverStream.Read(inStream, 0, buffSize)I don't know how to make my client and server accept the fact that a client has disconnected...
I am currently working on a messenger client that connects to a server then back to the clients for full chat room support.I have it operational however when you close the client before connecting to server it closes normal, if you close the client after you have connected to the server then the client dissapears but it is still running in processes. To make it worse if you close the process it then kills the server. What I need is a disconect button code so it will stop crashing it.Here is my code Client:
Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text Public Class Form1[code]......
I am working on a code for a chat client/server and I have it all working, I can connect and chat locally and global. The problem I am having is that when someone just hits the X in the corner to exit it crashes my server as well as the fact that if someone wants to they can make their username the same as someone elses.
Im using the code from [URL] as a starter, most of the code is the same. the chat system works fine but on the client a added a disconnect button "clientSocket.Close()" and as soon as i click that i get errors, on the client, this is the code...
Private Sub getMessage() For infiniteCounter = 1 To 2
[CODE]...
And this line...
serverStream.Read(inStream, 0, buffSize) gives me "Unable to read data from the transport connection: A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall."
Now im talking the server, after the client clicks disconnect or closes by task manager, looses connection, etc the server crashes and gives me.
I am trying to connect DSN from my VB 2008 project. When i try using myoledb.connectionstring="DSN=myDNSname" I get the following error message An OLEDB provider was not specified in the connectionstring.
im making a gaming tool for my Call of Duty 4 server. Not sure if anyone here plays it, but it uses an ingame rcon command tool that you use for admin control on your server. Well i wanted to make a program that i can control my server without having to log ingame to do admin stuff. I seem to be having problems tho. Im trying to have my program retrieve current information on the server but can't seem to retrieve the information. I have been reading serveral UDP tutorials trying to learn udp and tcp. Im definately still new to all this and trying my hardest to learn. Here is my code. I commented parts to explain what its for incase noone knows what it is for the game.
Imports System Imports System.Net Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text
Would it be possible to make a webbrowser link to the cookies and such of any windows user account no matter which windows user account you were on. So the user would use a drop down list or something then press a button and be able to switch to another user accounts internet explorer favourites, cookies, and flash cookies, rather than having to log out and then log into another user account?
I am making a small game of pong and i want to incorporate a pause feature. is there a way i could freeze the form in place and then unfreeze it later at the push of a button. the tutorial i used is below so check it out to get an idea of what i've made so far.
Public Class HotelReservation Dim currRec As Integer Dim totalRec As Integer Dim dt As New DataTable Dim cmd As New OleDb.OleDbCommand("SELECT * from Reservation", conn) Dim da As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(cmd) Dim ds As New DataSet
I have an ADSL connection that requires username password login (PPPoE). This looks just like a phone dial up connection dialog box.But all the codes i've seen for automatically connecting to internet, or even detecting a connection do not work.I'm looking for a way to have my software check for an active connection to internet, and absent that, to connect via the default connection.I'm on XP. I don't know if that makes a difference.I have set properties to save the username password and not to prompt for them. So if I double-click the connection it will connect without any dialog box.
I am using VB6 for a (ADODB Connection & Record set) database program by connecting MS Access file (MDB). Can I make same program in Visual Studio 2010 by ADODB connection with MS Access (MDB)?
I have built a client-server VB.net inventory application for our company which connects to our Server machine running on Windows XP. We have 6 client machines running also on Windows XP that connects to the Server's database. Now, my problem is, "How do i connect a client machine running on Windows Vista to our Server running on Windows XP wirelessly?"
- Is there something I have to alter on the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration?
-Or do I have to change the 'Connection String' on my software application so as to properly connect to the Server from a Vista mahine? If then, how?
This is the error its throwing:"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)"
I've been Searching the Net for hours now, and i can't really seem to find anything clear and straight to the point.
I need to create a Server/Client application using VB.net 2008, it's actually my first time to have a database on another computer. So I first searched the internet for the things i need to make this software.
how to connect wampserver or phpmyadmin localhost to vb.net. I mean adding, searching, deleting, updating, listing of data from the localhost database via vb.net?
I've came across a little problem with my tcp / ip server. My client can connect to it with 127.0.0.1 ( localhost ), and 192.168.0.X, but every remote connection fails to connect.
Here's the connection rituals: Server listener = New System.Net.Sockets.TcpListener(System.Net.IPAddress.Any, Port) listener.Start() listenThread = New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf doListen) listenThread.IsBackground = True listenThread.Start()
I want to connect to a MySQL database but the only connection available is a telephone line, a dial-up connection. I'm using vb.net 2005 Express for my project. All local connections are working the only problem is how can i get the server to connect, like IP to connect to establish a connection.
I'm trying to connect to Transoft U/SQL license using an odbc connection and and odbcDataAdapter. I am using a function to return a dataset into the mainModule.
HTML dsOMD = getOMDinfo(psSerialNbr) dtOMD = dsOMD.Tables(0)
The Function code that is being used is as follows:
HTML Function getOMDinfo(ByVal strSerialNumber As String) As System.Data.DataSet Dim myconnection1 = New OdbcConnection("DSN=omd.udd;uid=;") Dim strSQL As String = String.Empty
If I change the code to use a datareader it I can loop through the data but a data reader is not recommended to pass through the layers and so I'm wanting to create a dataset/data table process. Anyone have any ideas why the dataset/dataTable code is not working properly?
I have never used Sql Server before. I have Visual Studio 2010 and whatever SQL server that comes with it but am having trouble connecting to it.DO I have to set anything up beforehand in sql server. I used the connection string to connect to the northwind database from Microsofts website but it says it can't connect
I have a client that wants to connect to his MySQL database using Dial-up/Modem connection. All i know is a phone number. I will be using VB.NET 2005 for this project. We also have a LAN Connection setup to other computer, but some of this computer only uses Dial-up to connect. The LAN connection works fine because i can just use the Local IP to create a connection string. But my problem is how do i get to connect to a remote server using a Dial-up? I know building a connection string require an IP to connect. Do i need to get the IP after a dial-up connection is connected or to i need to use different approach? I have a server and i have 10+ clients, the server has a T1 connection + a dial-up modem installed also.I created a POS system to all the clients, Some clients uses dial-up some uses LAN. What the server do is all the records of the clients POS will be sync to one database on the server in one table. If i'm in the server and and i selected a station/client and click SYNC button all the records on that client will be sync to the server.
I am a ASP Classic Programmer, professionally for a little over a year, I have developed some rather nice sites, including the one in my signature (Still a work in progress).
I have been forced to use ASP.NET (VB) for a FileUpload control, as it offers a self controlled way of creating Thumbnails, without the use of 3rd party controls, which is great, as my hosting server does not allow for 3rd party installs on their servers. So.
The code below is what I have so far for connecting to the database and displaying a record is the "cookie" exist on the users computer.
Unfortunantly, this is not working, and to be honest with you, their is not a whole lot of resources available to show how to do this correctly.
So I am stuck with a lot of post and hoping that someone can actually assist me with this and tell me what I am doing wrong and maybe correct my code.
I am getting an error about the "Connection is closed"
If you want to re-write my code, I prefer something simple and basic, as the only thing that I am doing to checking rather the user is logged in, and if so, display a record from the database. I am NOT in the need for the DataGrid, so please do not suggest it, as I am only needing to check this one thing.
I would like to also add, that I have successfully contect to my database with the FileUpload control and save file names of the images uploaded, so I know that my connection string is done properly> But, for some reason the "SELECT" statement is causing a HUGE issue. (It was easier to insert, than to select, I am not use to that)
i connect the Datagridview by using command connection not coding. now i have "table3tableadabter", "table3bindingsource" and "database3dataset" below the form ? the search string " "Select * from tabel3 Where test2 like '" & Me.TextBox1.Text & "%';"" how i can do serch and the result will be shown in datagridview.
