een using excel extensively. In excel I use vlookup function to connect and retrieve data from other workbooks. I want to know how I can do it in VB. So far I have created a form.The form has say three text boxes viz (i) A unique Number (ii) Name (iii) Address. I want that when I write the unique number in the text box for unique number the other two text boxes i.e. of Name and of Address should be auto populated. I have also established and tested the connection with the access database file using ADO.NET. I do not know whether I need to write an SQL or LINQ query for this purpose or I should write some codes. What should i do it and how should i do it?

I am trying to essentially convert an Excel spreadsheet into a Windows Form. But with those codes I must enter 8 character lenght salt. Less then that the code wouldn't succeed. In the other hand. The PHP crypt() function only could use 2 character length salt. If you enter more than that, it seems it only use the first 2 character..[URL]

I have binded data to the grid views at the page load only, since the data size is huge I cannot load the data binding at the page as the time taking to page load is huge. I want to make an numerical integration method with takes in an analytic function and integrate it over a specific interval. For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function
- to use a lambda expression for the function
- send a pointer/adressOf
- to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.
Also, if they are so similar then why do they exist separately?

I have a web site where users enter company names to use in the rest of the app. However, recently I've noticed that similar duplicates are appearing, e.g. someone will enter EastTec Solicitors another will enter EastTec Solicitors Ltd someone else will enter EastTec Solictors (missed the i out in Solicitors), when there should only be one entry of EastTec Solicitors. What is the best way of checking the database for entries similar to what they have entered? How would you about checking for spelling mistakes as well like the Solicitors one?

I've looked around and I haven't found anything that fits my needs.I wish for the program to be able to intercept the Win32 (?) messages that are being sent to my own application, which is written in Visual Basic.As a side note, is "intercept the Win32 messages" the correct phrasing?Either way, an elaboration won't hurt; I wish for the spy tool to intercept the same messages that I would programmatically intercept with WndProc, i.e: the SendMessages and PostMessages.

Edits:I can see my window and the handles of its child controls, but I do not receive any messages.I am using Windows 7 64 bit.My Spy++ version is 8.00.50727 Semi-solved; I have got a Spy++ alternative ([Window Detective][1]) to work on my virtual machine, which I am most certainly happy with, and would definitely not mind settling for. Although I am still wondering why all the "spy-like" programs I found did not work on my "main" PC... but I guess I needn't care.
Like my computer have 3 image, and this is the location of these 3 image:

And this is the 3 image preview: now if we use eye common sense, we will saw that A.jpg is similar with C.jpg (just think that C.jpg is not animated) But now if i use VB.net to find the for the similar image, how can this be?
