Feb 29, 2012I've looked around and I haven't found anything that fits my needs.I wish for the program to be able to intercept the Win32 (?) messages that are being sent to my own application, which is written in Visual Basic.As a side note, is "intercept the Win32 messages" the correct phrasing?Either way, an elaboration won't hurt; I wish for the spy tool to intercept the same messages that I would programmatically intercept with WndProc, i.e: the SendMessages and PostMessages.
I wish to make it clear that I am not seeking a program that intercepts the .NET framework events.
Edits:I can see my window and the handles of its child controls, but I do not receive any messages.I am using Windows 7 64 bit.My Spy++ version is 8.00.50727 Semi-solved; I have got a Spy++ alternative ([Window Detective][1]) to work on my virtual machine, which I am most certainly happy with, and would definitely not mind settling for. Although I am still wondering why all the "spy-like" programs I found did not work on my "main" PC... but I guess I needn't care.

Creating Modules For Program (Similar To Firefox Add On)
Apr 7, 2010I have a contact manager program that I'd like to design for multiple network marketing companies. My desired structure would include a core program which covers basic contact management functions. After that one could purchase a module for their specific network marketing company. This module would contain a variety of controls that the original program would need to be able to manipulate. Here is an example of what it would have to have:A group box containing buttons that link to a genealogy view, and the option to import one's donwnline from the back office provided by a company.A panel which is displayed on the contact page allowing the user to input business information or which will be filled by importing a downline from the back office: ie business ID, qualification level, sponsor information etc.a panel displayed when one searches for contacts on the contact list page which allows the user to sort based on information such as when they joined, what their business id is and so forth.a panel which is displayed in a personal business overview page which presents to an individual how many people in their downline are at each qualification level and develop a mailing list for individuals of a certain qualification level.
I have the code developed to perform all these functions, I just wanted to give you an example of what needed to be done. I'm thinking that what I'm trying to create is a library that one can download and the program will recognize, but I'm not really sure where to go. What I'm really trying to do is figure out what kind of file I can make that will contain all this code and the GUI information that the program will recognize.

Oct 6, 2009I am developing a program that populates a rich text box and from a click event on a listbox. The data that is being loaded into the rich text box is located in a richtextformat file located on the hard drive. I noticed that when I entered a URL into one of the richtextformat files that it appeared that I was able to click on the text as if it were a link. So I wondered if it was possiable to click on that URL and open a web browser from the loaded richtextformat file? I have read several articles in regards to opening hyperlinks in rich text boxes which can open a web browser with a given URL.

Mar 31, 2009I am working on developing a livestock judging program for a 4-H project that will present you with a group of animals and you order the animals from best to worst by typing the placings in a text box (i.e. "1234").
When I type in the placings incorrectly, it comes up with the message box that it is supposed to, but when I type in the correct placings, it shows the message box that it is supposed to but then shows the message box that is supposed to show when you type in the placings incorrectly.

Now I know the easy way to achieve my goal would be to use the timer object in Visual Studio. The problem I ran into is I was developing an automated command line program. As such there was nothing I could attach the timer to (that I'm aware of). I just needed to pause the program for a few seconds to allow the DTSX package (SSIS file if you're not familiar) to load the file before I remove it from the staging folder.
While I was doing research for this issue I came across the old Sleep() function (referenced to a library in kernel32 as I understand it...never used this before either). When I tried to use this on my current system (64-bit system) I received stack overflow errors. Additional research lead to something called wow64, but I did not have enough time to fully research what this is / how to use it.

Jul 10, 2011I am making a 2.5D rendering engine. I assume (with the knowledge that I've gotten from reading online) that doing the rendering work using the GPU will be faster than using the CPU.
Is this possible with .net? If so, is this a correct situation to utilize the GPU?

In the past, when building a site which must be available in different languages, I've created a SQL Table like follows:

However, I've found this really time consuming (especially if the client later asks for another language option as a second phase).
What is the best practice for doing something like this, allowing scope for extra languages?

This application has mostly math calculations and works with MS Access DB. Now we are looking for method how we can develop WEB application with ability to client to download application for local work. Some of customers does not use internet at all from security reasons. So the WEB solution only not enough for US. I understand that WEB and Win.Forms have different user interface, so I am looking for best practice to create engine for both platforms(Web and Forms) . The main task for us is minimization of maintain and designing. Is there any technologies can be used in web and desktop app at the same time(like dll). I do not know how to make next step in order to estimate this project.

Aug 18, 2008I am developing a regex/pattern tester in vb.net where I have three textbox's:
- Textbox1: Here I enter my regular expression for pattern matching in textbox2
- Textbox2: Upload the plain-texts from dB and then look for a match
- Textbox3: Displays the result of the search.
Now the issue I am having is when I enter a regular expression in **Textbox1** and click search it is unable to find any matching pattern even though I have made sure a matching text is present in the paragraph.But whereas, if I enter the non-regex word/text itself in Textbox1 it is able to find a match.
In my button click_event I have initiated all the relavent regex functions etc but still not able to figure out why it wont except regex expressions instead of the word itself.Here is the code I am using for pattern search:
