In VB.Net 2010, is there any way to do multi-select in a drop-down/combobox, preferably with check boxes in the drop down? I've seen various discussions on the 'net about this but no such beast appears to exist within the tool.?

View 1 Repliesi seem to have a problem when i try to select a ComboBox item which is a drop down list. The ComboBox contains a list of various items where the user can select from a list, the type of query he/she would like to perform on an Access Database. Two of the items in the Drop Down List are "Employee Sales Between Specified Weeks" and the other item is "Employee Sales Between Specified Months" (without quotation). Now in my VB code, i have a really long If/ElseIf Statement which includes all the options the user can select. Additionally, if the user has selected a week query, he/she must select a From Week, a To Week and a Year (for example week 3 to week 5 year 2009). From Week is another combobox (1-53 weeks) and To Week is also another ComboBox (1-53).When the user selects a month query, he/she should select a From Month from a ComboBox (1-12) and a To Month from another ComboBox (1-12) and the year from the same Combobox (e.g 2009).
View 5 RepliesI have set the combo box dropdown style to dropdown, the auto complete mode to suggest append and the auto complete source to list items. This works fine IF I choose the required item using the mouse. If I type the full item name into the combo box, it is displayed but not selected for use. Is it possible to use a key such as TAB or Return to select the item in the combo box's display area after the drop down window has closed?

If you see below gridview, column 3 (GroupNo) has 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2....etc (this column data is not static, will change based on page index. i.e PageIndex =2 may starts with 7,7,7,8,8,8,8,8,9,9,9 etc).In every sectio/Group User must and should select minimun 2 check boxes. so If user select only one check box we need to show a pop up message as " Please select One more check box in that particular section" If User skips the message and move to next section we have to show the same message. We have to force the user to select more than one checkbox in the same section. Mainly our intention is the check boxes whatever user selected in each section/Group belongs to one Category.

I'm kinda making a document portal app for work.. has 4 list boxes going to 4 different drive locations.. for cosmetic reasons I want only the last box you clicked in to show a selected item.. so if you selected box 1 item and it was hilighted and then you went to box 2 and selected something I wanted box 1 to then dissapear.
I have some code written to handle this.. but its not working so well.. since I use the SelectedIndexChanged trigger to fire off another piece of code to unselect all the other windows.. those listboxes fire their triggers also because I have to call lstWord. SelectedIndex = -1 to make it not have something selected anymore.. and when you do that.. it calls its SelectedIndexChanged and ends up deselecting everything.. so wasnt sure if anyone had done something like this before.. seems like something that would have been done before.. but as you can imagine searching the web for "multi list box select only one at a time" or something similar..gives you some strange results..

The first list box contains the project name. Based on whatever is selected in the Projects list box, the 2nd list box is generated with Custodian names associated with that project. I am having problems generating the 3rd list box. This holds the data sources associated with whatever is selected in the 2nd list box (Custodians)

Right now I am telling it exactly which text boxes I want to be able to drag and drop to, but I was just told to have it drag and drop to every text box on the main form.The main form with the text boxes has a bunch of tabs on it that hold each section. Each section has text boxes, so how would I code it so they are all capable of allowing drag/drop without specifying each one separately?

i have a database created in access showing in multi text-boxes in visual basic 2008 express edition. the database is showing music information and sales (tune name, artist, sales, and year issued) there are a few processes i want to do but can not work out the coding.1. display the top ten selling tunes in a particular year in order ( the year needs to be selected from a list box and displayed in a list box)

I have two list boxes. A users selects a value from each, clicks a button and the application creates a relationship between the two selected items by saving them in an array and displaying the relationship in a third list box.
What I want to allow is for users to be able to drag a value from one list box and drop it on top of another value. I have the code to capture the value of the item dragged but I don't see how to capture the item that the data is dropped onto.
Is there a way to capture the targeted selected item?
My application is like this : i have to search my data from database with some check box and text box when user select check box specific function go on and then when user enters some range of value in textbox then the result will shown in data grid view after that i can print it by selecting data

I'm using vb.net. Basically, I have a drop down list, text box and a submit button. You choose a movie director from a drop down list, then type in a movie, click button and it adds the data to my database.There's another button which hides/shows drop down list, text box and submit button using Visible = True and Visible = False, but what I don't like about it is when it hides the things I said before, it leaves some white/empty space like if they are still there, but not visible.Is there anyway to put some kind of holder/container and place a button which when clicked could add my drop down list, text box and submit buttons to that place?

I am a beginer in vb.net. For a school project, i have chosen inventory control as the subject. WIth help from videos, i have developed some basic forms with adding/updating.
