View 2 RepliesI have created a simple database programme in VB2010 Express. There is one table called stock_main_table and one 'child' table called Stock_issue_table. The main part essentailly holds the part number and the issue makes a record of each time that part is used. Its a one to many type arrangement.In the main table I have a PRI key called ID_Number and in the child I have a field called 'control'. The control has a relationship with the PRI key in the main table. So each time you create a new line in the child datagrid you retain the same number for that record. All standard simple stuff.
When I run the programme the main table comes up OK and the datagrid for the child comes up OK. If I add a record, I can add plenty of children to it no problem. The records all save OK. You can amend a record as well without an issue. The trouble comes as soon as you DELETE a record and then hit save. The DELETE seems to work and the records (parent and child) all disappear, but as soon as you try to save you get a The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint error. I have tried and tried to fix this but can't.This is the full text of the exception, if anyone needs anything else then please just ask and I will post it. I realize there are 3rd party programs that could do this but I need to be able to do it through code. I found this code snippet but am having problems with it because I am missing namespaces, I think. I do have a reference to the Adobe Acrobat 10.0 Type Library.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to create a multipage tiff from a series of bitmaps. The bitmaps are not saved I am creating them using graphics. The code goes something like this:

m want to display tif images into my project. then i used a third party software (trial version CPImageViewer) it's working nicely. but problem is it's 3 months trial verison and it display message while running program....'Demo version'. so it hassle for end user. then im trying to use Microsoft Office Document Image Vierwer Library 11.0.
but problem is while i first time i set file name property its display the file but then it doesn't display any file.

I have converted pdf file to Tiff file using 3-party software. When I open the new Tiff file using 'Windows Photo Gallery', I can view both pages of the converted file. However, when I open the the Tiff file in a picture box in my app. I can only view the first page. So, my question is how can I view multiple pages of a Tiff file in a picture box?

I am trying to scan multiple pages from an Automatic Document Feeder Scanner and combine them to a singlemulti-page tif file. I am using two different third party libraries to do this.The first library I am using is to scan the documents. It saves the files to the local hard drive as single page tif files. This library returns the file-names as they were saved on the hard drive. This part seems to be working as advertised. The sourcefor this including a video on how to use it is at:

Using XP and VB 2008 Express for development of Widows Forms App.I am setting a button's .text to "" and then assigning a bitmap with some text written on it to the button's .image. Everything looks great on the development compter, but is almost unreadable on test computers using Vista and Windows 7. This despite trying a number of different combinations of (standard?) font family and size (including Arial, Verdana, Microsoft Sans Serif). Why?
Details....I have a button on a form (32 pixels x 32 pixels).I set the button.text field to "". I create a bitmap a little smaller than the button, and DrawText on it (I can't simply use the button.text field because I want to place text in different areas of the button and draw special characters.I use the following code to create the bitmap:

I wonder if somehow fonts are being anti-aliased or otherwise cleaned up by the system on the development computer, but not on the other computers. I also wonder if I should be creating just a simple 30 pixel x 30 pixel bitmaps, or perhaps should be trying somehow to get the buttons 'device context' or something. Or, is there an alternative to DrawString that draws text more intelligently than just setting the nearest pixel either black or transparent, which is what seems to be happening (ie, no anti-aliasing or creation of shades of gray). Maybe another pen? Is there an "anti-aliasing" pen?
I'm working on my second project; a layered image displayer.
It works like this:
- The user adds a new "image layer"
- The user can set the texture, image, size, rotation and color
- This all can be done using a selection square and some dialogs
It all works fine, but I found that there is one thing still unclear to me:
- Can you render layers without totally starting over (refresh) on every change?
As example, I have 200 image layers. I change one image layer somewhere in between them, and the program has to refresh all those images. (1 - 200)
This takes awfully long.
Now I found a small solution; I gave all layers a "finalimage" so it can render a single layer. Next I used, in the program, a back, active and fore layer. This way the program only has to render 3 images when changing the "active" layer. When you select another layer, all 3 layers will refresh. (with all those 200 layers).
Here is the code to get an idea:

i'm working on a project right now and I need to create a graphic library.The game I'm experimenting with is an RPG; this project is expected to contain many big graphic files to use and I would prefer not to load everything into memory at once, like I've done before with other smaller projects.So, does anyone have experience with libraries such as this one? Here's what I've came up with:
Have graphic library files and paths in an XML file Each entry in the XML file would be designated "PERMANENT" or "TEMPORARY", with perm. being that once loaded it stays in memory and won't be cleared (like menu-graphics)The library that the XML file loads into would have a CLEAR command, that clears out all non-PERMANENT graphics I have experience throwing everything into memory at startup, and with running the program running with the assumption that all necessary graphics are currently in memory.
Does anybody know how I can render openGL into a Visual Basic 2010 picture box?If you havent already done so please delete the abusive posts that responded to my original enquiries. I'm not able to get click events on top of the rendered video being displayed within the picture box. If I click to the side (still in the picture box, but where there is no video being rendered) then the click event comes through.

I am trying to write a program which loads a tiff image on picturebox. Then the user clicks somewhere on loaded image to set the starting x,y coordinates and clicks again to set the ending x,y point. Then clicks the run button and the starting and ending x,y points are written on label.
Just to test the program a loaded a tiff image that has a dimension of 75x75 pixels. When I click upperleft and downright corners of the image, the program outputs the coordinates as starting x,y as (103,89) and ending points as (170,157). The program outputs wrong coordinates becayse the image has 75 rows and 75 colums only. To me, it should have outputted starting point as (0,0) and ending points as (75,75).

I have an owner-drawn control where performance is an issue during quick repaints such as object drags, resizing and painting the selector square. i have noticed that several other apps, including Picasa, will temporarily draw a reduced-quality image during fast repaint scenarios and then update the image with a higher-quality version when the UI "settles down."
How should I (can I?) produce a lower-quality image to paint when many quick redraws are taking place? Are there other strategies similar to this i can employ to increase performance (or fake increased performance.) [code]...

I have an app that loads a jpg into a picyure box, then updates exif data in exifworks classThe problem is that when I save the image(from image used for picture box) or class (to save exif data) then try to delete, sometimes I get success, others it won't allow delet I have gone to the trouble of using gc.collect, do events, put the delete in a timer & wait for the delete before continuing & still get the problem
