I have a table that has two time columns. One is a login time one is a logout time. I would like to be able to filter between the two, basically greater than the minimum selected and less than the maximum selected. I am using a monthly calendar to get me the spans of time but it is not working correctly. From there I would like to add the 4 columns in the table to a gridview. The date in the DB is the in following format:
2/23/2010 11:17:01 AM
I know how to get single elements from the table, or a column but not entire rows.
So i guess I have 2 problems, getting the filter for the SQL correct then binding the results to a table.

SLaks has answered most of my question, one problem remains. I need to figure out how to make it so the monthcalendar can select just one day and return that days values. Seems like the time is an issue since it is in the DB as stated above. Just comparing the dates is not enough.
is it possible to get the correct time online? Because we are currently making a system that requires date and time. We are preventing a common error where the system time is outdated so we are going for online time and checking it in out system.

Now as you can see it is sending the textbox1 text and then pressing enter then sending textbox2 text! Theres quite a few problems in that but before i discuss note: This code is in a Timer. Problem #1: It does not send the keys fully correct all the time because its trying to send them all at once! So i want it to send them 1 letter after the other with 200 ms sleep in them! Problem #2: The sleep is not working: The reason i know is because even after it did the first textbox1 text it didnt wait that 2000 ms!
What is the correct way to compare time in this format "09:30:54" ?

The program keeps on crashing if the user does not select the corresponding amount of display records from above for the amount of attributes they want for the SELECT part of the query in the intreface in form 1.
How would i go about making something where the number of SELECT attributes selected which are listed in a string create the correct number of textbox fields in the results form (form2)
I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

I am new to VS 2010 and in my application I want to add an app.config to contain to variables.I have been adding the app.config through the solution explorer, add item, general tab, configuration file.However i have noticed each project creates a default app.config in the project folder but which doesnt show up in the solution explorer.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to get a handle on the correct way and easiest way to do things. By easiest I am not talking about being lazy just accessing and modifying later on. I have started using my own classes and such but I have a few questions. Sometimes I want to create a control on the fly through code instead of using the designer. Should I create this control in the main form file or in a separate class? If I make it in another class it seems harder to access later on. Then again if I dont know that the control is going to be created(user clicks a button to add a control) how can I access it? Also it seems alot harder to access certain things when it is in another class. For example if I create a new window in a class and then want to check if it is there or not it is alot harder to do.

I am trying to use the slider with a min value of 0 and max value of 600, and set up ticks every 30 seconds between 0 and 600.At a beginner level coding VB,I am not sure how to set some of the correct values in the slider's property box.Min, Max and Value, I am guessing are 0, 600 and 0 (sets the slider thumb starting positionat the far left). But I am not sure what other values, like tick and small and large change, etc. need to be set and set to what value? I've read online, but so far cannot find how to configure this.

Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. 2 timers
2 labels
1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time
2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time
Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")
Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..

There is a varchar column in the database table in this format of military time 1230 or 1750 or 1320 and that field get populated into a gridview in asp. I need to convert that string to standard time. I have tried the DateFormatString and nothing seems to work.
