Numbers Only In A Text, But Accepting Decimal Points
Sep 28, 2009
I've found plenty of examples of accepting numbers only in a text box, but the code won't allow decimal points. This is crucial because I'm dealing with US currency.
01.' Force numbers only in a text box
02.' place this in the 'Keypress' event of a text box
03.
[Code]....
How can I change the IF statement to accept the ascii code of decimal points? Then... how can I make sure the user doesn't enter 354.5.3535.5.0 as a number? Is there some sort of built in library in VB that has a pattern matching for US currency or do I have to write it myself?
I want to specify the user to enter only the numbers and decimal point in the text box.[code]values something like that which contain only numbers and dot. This is the code to enter the numbers only.[code]How to make the code to accept dot also?
I have a series of text boxes with numbers. They are an array called txtBF(0 to 16). I am trying to take the value that is to be displayed in the text box and make it have only one decimal place. I have tried using this code below but I keep getting an error message Run Time Error 13: Type Mismatch.
txtBF(11).text = Round(txtBF(11).text, 1) and I have also tried this txtBF(11).text = Math.Round(txtBF(11).text, 1)
In window textbox, I'd like to just allow 2 decimal points only. I could set text box only numeric but don't know how to limit 2 decimal points.[code]...
How would I go about rounding up decimal numbers to the nearest 2 decimal places? For example $7.0000032 would be $7.01 In theory, VB would make it $7.00 but if it is > $7.00, I want it to reflect that to the nearest penny... so $3.0000001 would be $3.01
I am working on a program where specific strings are being read from a file and displayed in a listview. Some of the strings represent money values though the file has no decimal points. I would like to add a decimal point before the last 2 digits of prices, quantities, and freights when displayed in the listview (not add two decimal places but actually insert the decimal point into the string). I would like to be able to keep most of the code I already have though, and I have no clue how to accomplish this. Here is the code I am using to fill the listview:
VB2010 Public Class Form1 Dim dates1() As String[code].......
I am using datatable.comput to calculate the avg of a data column. The data column's datatype = integer, so it returns a integer avg value as well. Can i make it to return double value?
Why my math keeps getting rounded to 0 decimal points by default? When I do this I get return value of 1
Private Sub Button4_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button4.Click Dim numb1 As Integer numb1 = 100 / 78 MsgBox(numb1) End Sub
How to get that value up to two decimal points (like 0.00)?
I'm trying to alter the existing number formatting in my company's application to make it more readable for international users. This is a stock trading application, so most stock prices come in with numbers precise to 2 decimal points, like so-> 17.23 We could also get ticks in that have precision out to 4 decimal points, so a penny stock might be 0.0341. The original string format that we were using for stocks was "#,##0.00##" Which would give us the format we wanted (essentially trimming '0's). The problem here is the ',' and '.' are forced onto the user, where in many other countries the thousands separator is '.' and the decimal point is ','. Boss man doesn't want to use "N4" for all numbers, even though this would resolve the globalization issue. Is it possible to have a globalized custom string format?
Other options besides writing some middle man code to internationalize numbers formatted the original way or another string.format method?
I have an id called "AM01". I separated them by truncating the numbers out and increase it by 1 each time I want to add a new record. Therefore before I add the record, I would have to combine them back. I managed to truncate them and combine them back. However, the results turn out to be "AM2" instead of "AM02". So, is there a way where I could make the numbers as "02" instead of just "2"?
I am creating a Time Sheet Calculator Application and just need to find out how to add numbers that are in hourly form. For example 2:39 (two hours and thirty nine minutes). I know how to create code for simple addition of decimal numbers, but does VB 2010 have some kind of way of adding hours and returning a number in hourly form.
I'm trying to compare Office version numbers in vb.NET How can I determine if: 12.0.64 is greater or less than say 12.0.62 or 14.0.4762 It seems the fact that there is 2 decimals, vb doesn't like it.

I'm having a bit of an issue getting the number formatting of VB .NET 3.5 to work just right for me. I have to convert numbers to scientific notation, with 2 digits for the exponent and 6 digits after the decimal. I've been able to get this for numbers that have enough digits, but for other numbers, it truncates the number to use as few digits as possible. For example, I would like 0 to be converted to 0.000000e00, or 123.4 to be 1.234000e02.
I'm a noob, so please bear with me. I'm working with VB in Visual Studio 2008. I have an application that displays dollar amounts. With the application installed on my desktop all of the dollar values display with 2 decimal places. However, after moving the application to the server and executing from there, trailing zeroes after the decimal point are lost.
For example - 7.00 displays as 7 - 10.60 displays as 10.6 I'm guessing there's an options file somewhere that determines how these numbers are displaying but I have no idea what that file might be.
Can someone tell me how to get both digits following the decimal point to display all of the time?
