VS 2008 - Delete / Insert Rows And Update Access Database

Jan 5, 2011

I am using this code to Add rows to a SQL database, and it adds the row to the SQL database if column 7 is not null. After it adds the row to the SQL database, it deletes it from the Access Dataset, and updates the Access Database. Sometimes double rows seem to get inserted into the database, so I'm thinking there is an error in my logic somewhere here.

Dim rowcount As Integer = AccessDataSet.AccessTbl.Rows.Count
Dim y As Integer = 0
For x = 0 To rowcount - 1
txtRow = AccessDataSet.AccessTbl(y)
If IsDBNull(txtRow(7)) = False Then

Overflow Exception-very Large Numbers?

Jun 22, 2010

This piece of C# code does not produce any overflow exception.wordsize is a constant equal to 32.the x and y can be very big at the computation time. So big that long or decimal even cant hold. But C# handles the problem even the value of the variables exceeds its limits. The computation gives thr right result.(I dont know how it does it)

Possible To Disable Overflow Exception Handling?

Mar 18, 2012

I'm writing a CPU emulator in VB .NET.It's important to keep the code tight for maximum performance.

The following test code shows an example of my issue[code]...

Now I know I can use a long, and mask the value with &HFFFF, and I know I can add exception handling to the code. but remember, this is an emulator and more code = less performance.

Code For Finding Factorials - Overflow Exception ?

Mar 30, 2011

I have the following code for finding factorials:

Private Shared Function Factorial(ByVal Number As Long) As Long
If Number = 0 Then
Return 1
Else
Return Number * Factorial(Number - 1)
End If
End Function

It usually results in an overflow. It only works if I start with something small like 4. I have to work with starting numbers such as 30-60. I thought changing the value type to LONG would prevent this problem. This is VB.net just for reference.

What does it mean? Is it running through the db too fast?

Here is my code:

Accessing Specific Rows And Information From The Rows Using VB In An Access DB

Mar 23, 2010

Public Shared Function isMatch(ByVal username As String) As Integer
For i As Integer = 0 To table.length - 1
Dim cellValue As String = table.getRow(i).getCell("Alias")

[Code].....

I have the code listed above as a translation from a Java snippet. The problem i have is that in Java, my table was stored as a dataset and as such, the methods were easily identifiable by "getRow" and getCell" using specific numbers and column names. However in VB the information is stored in an MS Access database (which i already have an open connection to, called: "_SalesPerformance_AnalyticsToolDatabaseDataSet12") and as such i do not know the correct way in which to iterate through each row in the database, checking a specific column against an already specified variable and then returning an integer based upon the value of a seperate column in the same row.

Hiding A Form Produces "Cannot Access Disposed Object" Exception

Apr 12, 2011

I am trying to write a program that takes the input of a CSV file, makes modifications, and prompts the user on how to handle certain modifications.

I have the parsing of the CSV file complete, the handling of most of the string manipulation down, and the user interface complete, except when it comes time to move onto the next record.

I had it display the form as a modal dialog, and used me.hide() once it was over to continue with the program. However, when it gets to the next ShowDialog(), it says that the object has been disposed! I've tried a modeless dialog, with a while loop that waits for a boolean to be flipped by a button on the dialog being clicked, but that, as predicted, did not turn out so well and just shot the processor load to 100%.

One thing I notice in looking around is that I have everything based on the "home" form, the initial one that comes up when the program is run. Is this incorrect coding? Does this require the prompt being on a child form?
