Saving Directly From A Datagrid To A Table In A Database?
Apr 7, 2011Basically I have a DataGrid on a form that is used to monitor attendance. I do this by making the data types for the relevant fields boolean so that at runtime, they appear as check boxes that the user can tick. If the user ticks this then the table in MySQL saves this as a 1, or if it is left unticked the table saves it as a 0. I then use those values in a mathematical equation to calculate weekly attendance.
My problem, however, is with saving changes to the table itself. Initially I set a primary key which was fine and allowed me to save. However I needed to turn that primary key to a foreign key and when I do that, I am told that I need a primary key. Now I got round that before when I was entering data into a text box and in my SQL query I'd simply put as my value being " & (name of textbox).Text & " but when I am entering data straight onto the datagrid, I am unsure of what to put in my SQL statement.
StudentID (Was primary key but turned it into foreign key)

My friend from college told me it's probably because there are multiple records in the database and can't distinguish between the two (as perhaps there's no WHERE clause in that UpdateCommand) but I doubt it as it was working perfectly well with multiple records when StudentID was a primary key.

The problem I am having is that It pulls out the 28,900 fine but I need to pull the rest of the information IE the 23,132 and the 170,000 and they will get placed into other Labels. Now they are not Static numbers they change all the time to higher or lower lumbers.

Dec 10, 2011I have a string which contains html code from a webpage. There's a table in the code I'm interested in. I want to parse the numbers present in the table cells and put them in textboxes, each number in its own textbox. Here's the table:

As you can see there are 14 numbers. To make things worse numbers like 19 and 20 are replaced by images and numbers lower than 6 have a span class.

Nov 13, 2009I have a project which contains a large number of lookup tables, and I have all of these lookup tables represented in a single typed DataSet, which contains TableAdapters for each lookup. I've designed an editor for these lookup tables, which should allow editing of one of these at a time. My front-end is written in VB and WinForms, the back-end is a SOAP web service; I can successfully pass the changes to the DataSet back to the web service, but can't find a way to use a TableAdapter to update the single table that has been changed.
What I'm trying to do is instantiate the appropriate TableAdapter for the updated DataTable by sending the name of the table back to the web service along with the DataSet, then referring to the TableAdapter with a dynamic name. The normal way to instantiate a TableAdapter is this:

What I'd like to do is this, but of course it doesn't work:

Is there any way to achieve this, or am I taking the wrong approach altogether? My other alternative is to write separate code for each table, which I'd prefer to avoid!

This is really a pre-defined table and the data is already specified to be inserted to the table. However, my primarily task is to read a flat file which has the data and consider the first line as the column to be column names.
Therefore, initially I created an open dialogue to browse for the text file and store the path such as E:Datafile est.txt, in a TextBox1 visible at run time. Now the task is to change the above "create table" to read the txt file (column names are on the first line) and then create the table in the database.

I currently gather my information from the database using a data reader and while dataReader.read, I use stringbuilder.Append to add each cell value to the table.The issue is that after about 200 rows, the html breaks and displays a cell value above the table in the email. I have tried changing the cell padding, but this was not successful.

Apr 24, 2009I'm writing a scheduling program that queries a MySQL database for today's appointments and uses a Table Layout Panel with employees on the top and times on the left to display the schedule. I am trying to add another table ontop of that table for each appointment and set the rowspan of that dynamic table to occupy the time slot of that appointment from start to finish.ll the appointments appear in the dynamic table and each dynamic table appears in the appropriate starting positions in the main table. When you are designing GUI's and put a Table within a table, you get a RowSpan and ColumnSpan option for that inner table. The problem I'm having is the dynamic tables are not giving me a RowSpan option, which I believe is because it was created using code and doesn't know that it's inside another table.Here is part of the code...
