I have a feature in my program that allows the user to have multiple tabs, each having its own rich text box. Is there a way that I can only perform an event, such as "Text Changed", for the selected tab's rich text box, or will everything still work (the way I want) if I give them all the same name?

I want to make an application in VB.NET and I want this application to work as follows, There will be an array of items on which I want to perform a specific operation (MyTask), with the help of multiple threads.For example, say, the array is holding 12 items in it, and I want to create 3 threads to do the work,
Thread 1: Reads the first item from the array and goes to perform the specific operation (MyTask).
Thread 2: Reads the second item from the array and goes to perform the operation MyTask
Thread 3: Reads the third itm from the array and goes to perform the Mytask.
Now once Thread 1 completes the operatin MyTask, I want to assign 4th item from the array to the Thread 1 to continue the process.Once Thread 2 completes the operatin MyTask, I want to assign 5th item from the array to the Thread 2 to continue the process and so on... until all the items from the array is processed. Also, the function taking 5 arguments out of which 4 arguments will be same. Only one argument will vary and it will take the keywords one by one as input parameter.
I'm new to VB and Windows programming but I do have a fair amount of experience programming at the command line level. A friend is having problems with his laptop. He does a lot of speaking engagements with Powerpoint. His laptop uses the F7 key to toggle the output to his external monitor port to the video projector. The F7 key has stopped doing this. Is there a way to create a Windows program that will do this without using a DOS window? He is not familiar with command line processing and needs something that he can double-click.

I have a datagridview comboboxcolumn populated with jobs. these jobs have a wage attached to them. for example job "Policeman" has a wage of R20.I have 5 checkboxcolumns for each day of the week as well. so if I check 3 of the checkboxes and have the job "Policeman" selected, I must then calculate the weekly wage (3*20=60) and display the wage in the weekly wage column. which event is best to handle this.

I have a WinForms DataGridView control on a form. There are two fields in this DataGridControl:
Email Address
Resolved Email Address (calculated based on the input in Email Address)
After the user inputs or changes a value in Email Address, I want the value in Resolved Email Address to update based on a separate method. What event should I tie in to so that that the Resolved Email Address cell is updated after the Email Address cell is updated?I'm not sure where to put the event because the user could do a number of things after adding/changing a value: tab to the next cell, click cancel on the form, click ok on the form, etc.
the disply color buttons click even procedure shold display the color of the item whose item number is entered. all item numbers contail eactly five characters(12b12). my problem is i can not get it to disply a color in the lblcolor control. it displays the item number.

The Add-In when installed shows an error on clicking the short cuts. It says the specific macro cannot be found.The code under the Sub EnableShortCut() works well when it is in an excel vba module. The same won't work when it is added to an Excel Add-In created with Visual Studio.
How Do I Make Button.click Event Perform both the enter and period(del) keys on the numeric keypad? [Code] Case Keys.Enter and Case Keys.Separator do not work. Nor does anything like Keys.OEMPeriod for the period(del) key. I've also tried calling the enter key in a KeyPress event etc. But to no avail. Any ideas? I'm trying to mimic Windows calc.exe for a school project and thought I'd try throwing in a few extras such as numeric keypad functionality.

View 4 RepliesIs it possible to define my list of strings like in 'good old' VB60, to use only on ebyte of memory for each character? .NET always seems to store any string as unicode, which doubles the required memory. The case is that I have a huge list of strings, all of the same size. It is about 50.000.000 items, 12 characters each. You can imagine I am running out of memory in no time. I tried converting them to arrays-of-bytes but in that case I loose the possibility to perform a "LIKE" statement in a FOR-EACH loop to check for a specific item.

I have one listbox an import button and a save button. Basically the import button allows the user to select photos and he list box then shows the directory for them. Is there a way to save the image that has been selected to a different place? whilst at he same time changeing the file name.e.g. the list box would have the directory like this "c:documentspicturesimage1.jpg" I would then like to save this file like such "c:desktop est103.jpg"

there's a list-box with items, and say you want to modify an item in the middle of the list. You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.

Later in my code I have a RowEnter event for that DataGridView when the user is assessing it after it has been populated during the main procedure. However this RowEnter event gets fired while the DGV is being populate. I only want it to file AFTER its populated. Is it possible to disable this specific event while the DGV is being populated? I really want the user to have the ability to cursor up/down the DGV and see affects of the RowEnter Event. I know I can also use the CellEnter event but it does not have the same effect.

The problem, I've realized, is that is that I can't seem to remove the events which is screwing up quite a few things (because they are being called when they should be done with). To fix this, I wanted to add some kind of way to remove the specific event handler.
