Any way to remove this problem I have in VB2010. I've done a picture box, where you can draw lines by clicking with your mouse. There is a label running along with the mouse pointer, but every time the cursor moves over the line, the label removes the line under it. I've tried setting transparent background to the label.

View 5 RepliesI am still very new to VB. I am having trouble working out how to remove lines within a rich text box, based on the next new entry into the rich text box.
For example:
rtbClient (the rich text box) already has the lines:
long cat is long
he really is
long cat is long
Now, if the next NEW entry into the rich text box is "long cat is long", then the new "long cat is long" string would be ignored because the line previous (and only the previous line and not all lines that already exist) is exactly the same. Note, I know of the Me.rtbclient.Lines = Me.rtbclient.Lines.Distinct.ToArray code, iv tried playing around with it with no luck.

I will always know exactly what line it is, as, it's the same "string" as a variable. I'm trying to build an app that would search a text file for a string entered by the user, and delete the line of text containing that string. Here's the code I have. I have strMyString that contains about 5000 lines of data. There are some lines of data that need removing if they contain a certain string, such as "http", "www.", ".com", "cat", "fish", etc. The whole line needs removing. Each line is separated by a vbNewLine or similar.
How can I do that? Does it need pasting into a rich textbox first before processing?

I am reading a list of IP's from a text file. After every procedure, the first IP (the first line) needs to be removed, and the new first IP will be read at the beginning of the next procedure. Basically, I just need to know how to get rid of the first line of a text file completely. For example, I'd like to go from this:

I am writing an app that writes notes, inserted by the user, to a txt file. The app saves that notes to a txt file, and when opening it reads the file and shows the already inserted notes. However, I want the user to be able to delete some of those notes...but I can't seem to do it...this is what I have:

It goes fine, but the text.Replace(value, "") line doesn't seem to work. I've also tried text.Remove(0) but it doesn't removes the line...it looks like it has no effect.
I'm trying to remove a line from a text file that begins with a set value.
The idea would be to paste values into a Windows form, which then finds each line that begins with that value (a 5 digit number) and removes those lines from the file, and then removes the gaps.

View 13 RepliesI'm trying to create a bunch of labels during runtime that will be "inside" a picture box, so when I move them, if their new coordinates are outside the box's dimensions they wont display, or if they're right on the edge of the box only half the label will be visible etc.
I thought label.Parent = picturebox would work but it doesn't seem to do anything, and Google keeps telling me to set the label's container to the picturebox - which sounds right, but maybe it's no longer a VB.NET thing since the Container property seems to be Read Only.
I have a panel on a form in which I have two labels and a small picturebox. The label texts and image in the picturebox are changed from time to time program matically. I would like to have where a user can click anywhere in the panel to bring up another form, but I have not been able to make it work. Since the labels are I guess "above" the panel, if the user clicks on the label itself, it does not trigger the panel onclick event.

I saw another forums suggesting adding the PictureBox as a parent to the Label, like this:

Label1.BackColor = Color.Transparent
But then the label just disappears, and no text is displayed.

I have a toolbar that is always on the top (topmost = true) but when i maximize other programs the top of their windows is hidden behind it. I want them to maximize BENEATH my toolbar so i can close/minimize them etc... Like an upside down taskbar, literally changing the screen working area...
