The number that has to be inputted has to be between 1 and 100. I have all the code so far and at the moment it can check whether the number is or isn't within the boundries.

Feb 28, 2008What i'm trying to do is compute whether an integer number is prime or not. The program performs this analysis for all odd numbers from 3 up to an input integer limit, for example 100. If the integer in the range 3 to limit is prime, a message stating so is printed. Otherwise, a message is printed that lists at least one other integer divisor. The output for each analyzed number consumes one line of text.
A sample output is shown below:
Limit is 100:
Number 3: is prime
Number 5: is prime
Number 7: is prime

I understand I need to use loops, boolean functions, vbmath(), strings and multi-line out via concatenation. So I can put this is words how I think it should be done but not so great putting the code together
Test all integers up to the SQRT of the number (100)
limit = math.sqrt(100) + 1
Followed by 1 For statement
For c = 0 to 100 step 2?
And an If statement
If ......
result = false

Nov 9, 2010I wrote last week about a problem with an MDI program that had a large number of forms (each with a large number of controls on it) that was "sluggish" in loading and in switching between the child forms.I've attached an example program in VS2008 (though the actual app is VB2010)Rather than show the hardware control application with all of the text fields, and picture boxes acting as indicators, I made a simple program to show the point. This is exaggerated as this just loads 2000 or so text boxes on a form. In the real app I have ~ 200 assorted controls per form of picture boxes, scroll bars, text boxes, labels etc. Also, there is a large full screen .jpeg as the back ground of each form. All are generated at run time and are placed on the form in the New call of each form. (as in the sample attached)main issue seems to be the methodology I use to switch between child forms. I make the current form .visible = false, and the next.visible = true. I have used this as it "keeps the place" on each page if the user has scrolled or is looking at one section of the form. When the next form .visible = true happens I see the controls added in a "machine gun" fashion instead of all at once.

Implement A Update Checker?
Apr 7, 2011As an update rolls out in one of my applications, I would like to implement an update checker. My situation is that, when a user clicks a drop down item called "Check for Updates", I want it to check for updates. My application is simple, I don't publish. I upload to a mediafire and put the download link to my blog. The only file I need in my application has always been the .exe file of the application itself. My question is, what is the simplest and best way to implement a update checker?
Example:User is using v1.1 and checks for updates. He clicks the "check for updates" and a popup shows up with yes, update available and is a msgbox yes or no. Yes, would allow the user to download the update. No, closes the msgbox. If there is no update available, then a msgbox shows "You have the current version". If the user is offline or cannot check I would like to have an exception to show why he cannot check.Basically, working with the download aspect and everything else is familiar to me but I have no idea how I can check.

These are of course great to use in any security application or as part of any password.
However with the list so readily available on the internet is it such a good idea to use a prime number as part of a password? Food for thought perhaps? ....
I guess it depends on how long it is too. :-)
You could try to remember one that is close to an important date or other number that you know maybe?
If you are more paranoid use more than one prime number in a password with other characters ( UPPER and lower case letters etc ).

Mar 13, 2010I am suppose to write a program using if statements and loops: Create an application that reads an integer number from the user and then displays in the List Box all prime numbers (for this project we are going to violate "positive" rule and make our prime numbers be negative as well) between user's number and zero 5 numbers in one row. The application also displays how many prime numbers there are between user's number and zero, and the total sum of all these prime numbers.
