Program Hangs After Leaving Screen Saver Or Locking Computer?

Our program works fine, until someone locks the computer or the screen-saver pops up (but not ctrl+alt+delete). Once the computer is unlocked/the screen saver is closed, the application stops drawing everything except the title bar, and stops responding to input - it displays a mostly-white window which can't be moved or closed.(Example of application freezing - the mountains are from my desktop background)If we let it sit for about 5~10 minutes, it comes back to life, and doesn't hang again (even after locking the computer/screen saver popup) until the application is restarted.
I want to show system ideal time in WPF window (like screen saver). I can able to get system ideal time. But how to set my application property to screen saver property. My application was sent back, if windows screen saver activated and if user lock the system (ctr+alt+l) my application went hidden. I dont want to install my application into screen saver (convert .exe to .src). Is there any possible, my application act as a screen saver?
i am trying to make screen saver in vb.net i m using picturebox and timer (for separation of time), but i cannot attach multiple pictuers in a single picturebox.

Microsoft's web site claims it is part of of the Visual Basic .NET Express download. I downloaded it but when I click on file / new project, RSS Screensaver Starter Kit is not there.

However, when it is enabled again, at the normal time for the screen saver to come on, the system asks for a password instead of showing the screen saver.From this time on until the screen saver settings are adjusted in the control panel, the password screen is displayed in place of the screen saver.Is there something else I should be doing for Windows 7? I understand that SPI_GETSCREENSAVEACTIVE is not supported in Windows 7, but SPI_SETSCREENSAVEACTIVE is supposed to be.

I have a very long running syncronization task that cannot be interrupted by the screen saver or aggressive power saving modes. My boss has intention to use a touch screen for a computer that run my program (written in VB 2005) in a computer with windows XP OS, to make it look sexy for our customers to see (in a cafe settings). None of us know much of touch screen at the moment. Do I have to modify my program (which currently run on usual set up with optical mouse) to run with touch screen? Can touch screen works just like a replacement for the mouse (the way bar code scanner works just as replacement of keyboard)?
I have a program that has the option to create a restore point. My problem is that when you click on it to do so, the program just locks up until it's finished creating the restore point. I have put a separate form on the program and it has a Marquee Progress Bar Control which I downloaded, so the idea is.
User clicks "Create Restore Point"
frmRestore.show Marquee Progress Bar goes on and on while the restore point is created Restore point is done frmRestore.hide
The thing is, when you click create restore point, the form shows and the program just locks up, onces the restore point is created the form hides again. Could this problem be solved with a Background worker? To be honest I'm not completely sure what it does, I mucked around with the controls but can't seem to find anything useful.

I must kill a conflicting program that cannot share the COM port and then reinstate when myprogram ends. To reinstate I use: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(conflictingPath & conflictingProgram)
In the last line of my Form1.Closed I try to end all with:System.Windows.Forms.Application.Exit()
Not working - each time I run this program it does kill the conflicting program, can do its dialing function and upon closing reinstates the conflicting program. But each time another copy shows under Task Manager.
I'm interested in making a licence key system to incorporate into my programs. I understand the general idea of checking a database for used keys, but I don't know how I can implement a system into my programs.
I had an idea of creating a custom algorithm, creating a file which contains the licence key, which is encoded with the new algorithm. So people can't just guess the licence because they can't understand what the algorithm (like a custom hash) means. On the contrary, would it be possible to somehow set a licence key variable in my program when it is built or installed somehow? Because I don't understand how it would be possible to work out what key the user needs etc...
After writing that last sentence, I realised that when somebody pays for some software or registers, their username and email is put into a database, and then when they want to register the software, they have to fill in their username, email, and then licence key. Then the key will be filled in in the database. Would that work?
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and developing a VB.NET application. I'm having strange lockup problems with my program, but only when Internet explorer 8 is opened.
When I cover my form with another window and then uncover it, I find that it has locked up. My program has no references to IE and the only thing it even has to do with IE is using Process.Start with a web address.
My program works fine and exactly as it should, but only when IE is not opened.
Does anyone know why a program would lock up only while IE is running?
Edit: I've done some digging and I've found the offending thread in my program. I don't know what starts this thread or what it does, but when I kill it, my program no longer freezes. The thread is one of the CreateApplicationContext threads, here is the last few items in the stack trace of that thread.
The messagebox shows properly but will not respond to mouse click and every is halted.. Comment out the messagebox event everything proceeds. No error is generated, things jest stop at themessagebox and willnot proceed. Code as follows:
my program seems to just freeze whenever I press this button. I need to be able to use this because I'm reading values from a joystick as i'm making a human interface device.
When I close my compiled application, it will always hang for a few seconds before closing. It isn't something to do with my PC, I've got a quad core with 4GB of RAM -[code]...
I have a strange problem that I can't seem to find any answers on. I wrote two programs in VB2010. Both work great, install and uninstall no problem and I have done this on 4-5 PC's and laptops, all running Win7. A friend saw them and asked if he could use the programs, but when he installed them neither of them would work. All the prereq's were there and he is also running Win7. For some reason all of a sudden his enlarged font reset itself and VIOLA! both programs started working. I have retested this and it fails/works every time.
So my question is, how do I fix this or is it fixable? Is there somewhere in VB where this has to be set to be 'flexible'??
I have a heavily timer tick driven application that seems to randomly just stop on vista/w7 while minimized, sometimes it goes on for hours sometimes just minutes but the end result is same just stops for no apparent reason, the moment i unminimize it it keeps going. This never happens on xp tho where it works perfectly so what might be the problem?
I have a VB.Net 2008 app that I have converted from VB6 which reads data from a weight scale connected to a serial port. I am able to read the received data and display it on the screen, but when I go to Stop the reading and attempt to close the serial port, the app hangs.

I'm writing a simple program to retrieve data via the Serial Port. I have a piece of hardware that returns its 14 byte status every time vbCr is written to it. The program works fine except after a few hundred requests the program begins to hang, off and on. Some times for a second some times for longer. I need to update every 25 milliseconds so the hanging sets in quickly. This faster the interval the quicker the problem sets in but no mater how long the interval the problem eventually starts.[code]...
