I have made a program that makes and saves every possibility of characters under 7 characters (so far), and it takes about 10 mins to make one million possibilities... this is about 1800 possibilities per second (differering on different CPU's and RAM's)How can i make it more efficient, because i have made some basic calculations, and if i wanted 7 digits of every possible character combination, it will take about 7 billion possibilities... If i had 10 mins per million, that is a long time..
how to make a program that makes all the possible characters and numbers (A-Z & a-z & 0-9) from 5-20 characters, and put them in a list or something?
Someone may think this is bruteforce hacking, but I don't see why I should do that? If I want to find a password on 13 characters, it would be: 62^13 = 200028539268669788905472 possibilities... in other words... it would take forever!
I am trying to make a program that consists of two list boxes. The first list box contains the names of several employees of a given company, and the second is to display the name, department, ID number, and phone number of the person when the name is double clicked in the first list box. The file I have been given to carry this out with reads as follows. [code] I have no idea what I am doing.I know that I have to use the system imports streamwriter and streamreader, but I really am lost as to how. I don't even know where to begin really.
how i can making my app in open with list for windows like if i chose my app to open txt file my app will open the txt file like example: ex.txt ==> open with my app and my app with view the ex.txt
I'm trying to make a list of flight plans loaded into my program, with each flight plan having a list of waypoints along the route, along with a few other properties associated with the flight plan. Each waypoint has its own associated properties, i.e. waypoint ID, waypoint type, location, etc.
Here's the declarations:
Code:
Public Class WPinfo Public WPType As String Public WPID As String
[Code]...
How do I implement the List methods to access the list elements, and add, remove, etc? The way I'm doing it now just gets me an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' error during runtime.
I am just wondering on how can i make a list of recent file opened on my program in vb.net. The recent files filenames must be in a linklabel in a form and in the menustrip.
Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.
Here is my code for extra clarity:
Public Class frmMain Dim intCounter As Integer 'Stores the # of commas in the string Dim Messages(49) As MessageProperties
So I've got a list of strings in ListBox1 and I want to remove the last seven characters from each string in the list and write the output to an excel file...
Following is the format of the data stored in my arraylist.
A-Amsterdam B- Brussels C-Canada
so and so forth. I wan to search my array list by passing just the first few characters till '-' So if i have something like AA-Test then i want to pass just 'AA' to check if it exists or not.
I know that i can use contains or binarysearch but it does not serve my purpose as they both compare objects.
How do I Extract all Characters in Unicode, UFT8,iso-8859-1 to 9 etc to a list or array In VB?I have a SQL Database of which contains values from 51 languages. I need to detect which ISO-8859-? Was used to encode the string value. For example Turkish Characters i.e. "Ö Ş ş ğ ü Ç" Once I have the correct ISO, I need to convert the Chars with-in the string to Unicode using only if the string value contains values that are not UFT7, and convert the string to HEX?The reason I need to detect the ISO etc is because we are sending SMS, of which jump from 160 characters to 70 if a special characters are used, i.e. "Ö Ş ş ğ ü Ç" Is there a simple way to extract the ISO-8859 Character Set to a Array etc, or is there a simple way to check if the character exists with a ISO-8859 data set?
I'm having a problem recently, a logical issue so hard to determine various examples.I need the text that is inserted in textbox, which has been altered or modified or twisted to have a proper format through line accordance and constant white spaces etc. And some cases I stuck at defining the If statement within the loop. Here's an example of a text I'm trying to reformat.[code]I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate version with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. This code is being fired on mouse click event of a button control. This is a snippet of my code there are more filtering after but here is what should be changed.
I'm having issues with finding something in list, and removing the item, ignoring the case of characters in string.
The code goes: Dim listItems As New List(Of String) Dim pattern As String = "AbC" Dim array() As String array = {"ABC", "abc"} listItems.AddRange(array)
Here I'd like to remove all items from listItems, that are abc, no matter what case single characters of item are, including mixed case items. So in this example, every items should be removed listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
If I change pattern to match the case of item, then item #2 gets removed: pattern = "abc" listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern)) How can I find item in listItems, ignoring the case characters in pattern?
I wish to make a project where a teacher views a list box with a list of students of a class. When he selects a name from the first list box the second listbox would change its data to show the grades for that one student.
I'm trying to make a validation control that only allows (a-z, A-Z, and 0-9). Which control to i use in vb.net or do i have to write specific code to validate it?
i am using Microsoft.XMLHTTP to pull information from a php page on my server, and they look exactly how they should look via firefox webbrowser, but via Microsoft.XMLHTTP utputted to a Listview the special characters aren't formmated correctly.eg, & #39; (had to put a space after & as it turns into a apostrophe on the site)
I'm populating a DataTable from a MySQL-server. One of the columns contains norwegian characters (, , ), but they don't display correct in my datatable. I've been searching google for some answer, but I haven't found any. I've never had this problem before. Actually I'm not quite sure exactly where the problem is. It's either in the datatable or in the MySQL .NET-connector as far as I can tell. If I do the same query in the MySQL Query Browser, the characters are shown correctly, so it can't be the server.
I am not recieving any errors, but the program is not doing what I had expected. I wish to make a program that randomly takes characters (well, not completely randomly. I used the table of letter frequency from wikipedia and included that data in my program by figuring out the max for the random numbers from the percentages in the wikipedia chart.) and adds them to a long list of characters ands saves the file every 5 minutes. I have calculated the timer interval so that the number of miliseconds shown is equal to 5 minutes. I am getting the textwindow, and it is showing (rather rapidly, as I need it to be) a long random list of characters (including spaces). The problems are (A) I am having difficulty saving the text as a file. You'll find the code that is supposed to do that at the bottom. The other problem I am having is once so many characters are added, the ones at the top start disappearing. I would scroll to the top, and each time I did so the letters at the top had changed (this is all during the same test), but I need all characters to be stored when the file saves. Granted, I haven't actually seen one of the saved files as I have not figured out how to make that work. One other thing, not sure if it's important, I haven't run a published version yet. I've only been running the debug builds. Does that affect how it handles actions with files?
Module RandomModule Dim X, Y, contents As Primitive Sub Main()[code].......
I need to be able to strip the following prefixes from product codes as you see I have included a simple query while yes the below shows me the cm im not wanting i cant use replace as it code replace any instance of cm the prefixes are held in the supplire table cross refer with the products table
prefixes are not always two chrachters for example can be TOW
SELECT * , left(prod.productcode, LEN(sup.prefix)) AS MyTrimmedColumn FROM MSLStore1_Products prod ,supplier sup WHERE prod.suppid = 9039 AND prod.SgpID = 171
I wrote a simple console program (simplecopy) that copies its input to output:
Module Module1 Sub Main()
[Code]....
The output is the content of testdata.txt, but with three extra characters (hex b4 2b 2b) inserted at the beginning of the output. Those three bytes are not there when I run simplecopy without input redirection.
I have recently developed a serial port communication program to access my hardware firewall and its connected to the device via a converter usb to rs232head plugged to a rs232 to an ethernet cable. this ethernet cable then plugs into the device console port.
my program functions similar to that of TeraTerm. an opensource hyperterminal program written in C++ but i decided to do one for vb.net
Alright to cut the story short, i have successfully coded out the program to accept incomming data from the device but however, i'm also receiving ansi escape sequence along with it and i have no idea how i could implement codes to remove these. i have spend 3 weeks trying to look for vt100 emulation codes written in vb.net but i found none so far. most are written in c++. here's an image to illustrate the problem which im facing.
The image below is a screenshot taken when the i ran both the programs together. The bottom is tera term 3.1 and the top is my vb project which i made using msdn's example and improved on the codes. basically tera term was able to interpret those escape sequence and display accordingly to that of the vt100 terminal display. I have spent time reading on regular expressions using the inbuilt function regex in visual basic and tried parsing some strings but its not working. i guess its far more complex than i thought.
I have a program that requires a string. The string is 20 characters long. The string also have to be split into 2 words the first word is 12 characters and the second is 8. If the strings is not 20 characters long I get an error. I wanted to know how can I get the program to start back over and let me enter another 2 more words if the string is not 20 characters long. At the moment after I get the string is not 20 characters long error it continues to read the rest of the program but I want it to stop after an error and let me start over from the beginning.
For each character of this string I want a new character out of the string and then remove the character from the list of characters that still maybe used for other characters. It may not get the same character, you could basically just call this encryption, but it's not what I am making. I don't want to waste my time doing this one hour while VB can do this for me in <1 second.
I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist. When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible. When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. [code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement. When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?
Essentially I am trying to replicate the Windows 7 (In-Windows) activation key TextBox form. The Form where it will auto capitalize letters, remove or deny all non alphanumeric characters except dashes every 5 characters that will be auto-input.I assume this can be done with a fairly complicated replacement Regular Expression but I cannot seem to create one to fit the needs.
This is an Example of what I have right now, but it creates an infinite loop as it removes all characters including dashes, than adds a dash, which changes the text and removes the dash again.
