Jul 19, 2011Im doin my school project on taking order system(POS) in a restaurant using VISUAL BASIC?the word visual basic is very new for me...i already do some of the coding,this system not using database,just a simple POS system..When i insert y(for yes),msgbox for order_code and order_quantity apear.but when i insert n(no),msgbox for order_code and order_quantity apear again for one time then stop.then msgbox for calc2 pop out but the value isnt right..calc2 also calculate the order_code and order_quantity,the one that apear after i strike no.

Error:Project Work On Seven System-Don't Work On XP System
Oct 19, 2011I'm using vb2008 with DB MSA2007 (save it to MSA2003) on Seven(7)System After I create my project I build it(make exe). then I took the file of project (application) and the DB from Debug Folder.
I tried to run this application with DB on another computer it's system is seven and MSA2007 and work very well. then I run it on pc it's system XP and MSA2003. it showed this error
Application Error THE APPLICATION FAILED TO INTIALIZE PROPERLY (0XC000135). Click on OK to terminate the application
Project Doesnt Work On Mentor's System Due To Error
Jun 20, 2011i am doing an internship for which i had to make a code in vb. i am using vb 2010 ultimate. the code is ready n bug free. it does what it is supposed to do on my system. how should i transfer it onto my mentor's system because he needs the code for day to day activities. his system has v1.something for .net framework. mine is v4.something.i have tried sending him exe file generated. didnt work due to the difference in versions of.net framework.then i read bout package and deployment wizard. vb 2010 ultimate doesnt have that wizard. i tried publishing it. gives me an error "WindowsApplication1 has stopped working." this is on my system and not my mentor's.

School Project Music Maker Kinda
Dec 9, 2009So I am supposed to be choosing a final project for my visual basic 2008 class. I cannot help but remember an old high school classmate from web design class who made a program that used the speaker built into the motherboard (or whatever makes the start up beep when you turn computer on) to time the beeps to play simple songs. Mar 15, 2011So as the message says i believe im having a problem when declaring an array as control. The background:Im doing a school project where a picture is covered by 48 buttons. When a user clicks a button, they are asked a question. If they answer write, the button disappears until the whole image is displayed.
Im using each buttons visible property to hide it. Now that i think about it, i should probably un-enable it after a question is answered correctly.anyway, I keep getting a NullReferenceException when making the visible set to false. Any suggestions would be awesome. I have already created all the buttons and named them Q1-Q48.

Nov 17, 2010I'm trying to create a simple user tracking system so whoever has the program open can see who else has the program open. I know how to retrieve the username and everything. What I was doing was updating (loading and saving) a listbox with a text file on the network with the usernames in it. I can't get it to work right and I think its because the simultaneous opening and saving of the same text file by multiple users. I know this isn't technically the best way to go about doing this but it seemed like it should be the easiest. I don't want to make a huge project out of this because it isn't that important, it would just be nice.

Sep 24, 2009I'm looking for some advice for an application I currently developing. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible so if additional info is need just let me know.I'm developing an Winforms based event tracking system using VB.Net (VS 2008 Pro). The application collects data via serial bar code scanners and stores this data within a MS SQL Express db located on the same Windows XP Pro workstation that the application is installed on. When the application receives the formatted string of data it checks the db table and sends a reply back to the device indicating whether the data is a duplicate. I have written a PortManager class to handle the serial based devices and this functionality is working well.
I have now been asked to incorporate a new type of collection device into the system. The new device is running embedded Linux and uses TCPIP (POE) rather than serial communication. The device manufacture has assured me he can provide a string from the devices integrated scanner in the same format as my serial based devices.
If possible, I would like to utilize the current application and just add the ability to use the TCPIP devices to it. I was thinking it might be possible to just add a new class (similar to my Port Manager class) to handle the TCPIP based devices.I'm really at a loss as to the best way to approach this. I'm just not that familiar with collecting data from a Winforms application using a TCPIP based device.
