I am fixing up a visual basic program using visual studio 2005, specifically in visual basic. I am currently attempting to format the datagridview used to display data from a database. The values from the database being displayed are a mix of integers (used for displaying information such as number of units sold) and floating point values (used to display revenue, etc). I need to format all the values to display as integers (by simply truncating the decimal places, not rounding) as all (including the values that should already be integers which are appearing with two 0s following the decimal place). I have used the round function as follows round(value, 0, 1) which as I understand should get rid of all decimal places by simply truncating them, however I am still left with two 0s after the decimal place. Next, I went to the designer view and edited the columns property of the datagridview so that they are all set to be numeric with zero decimal places, yet the decimal still remains. I followed that by going back into the code and change any CType() that were decimal to Integer and still no change.
When the datagridview's selection mode is set to "RowSelect", the HitTestInfo Type property only returns column header as the type and not the cell that is being clicked on.Is there a way to keep the selection mode as RowSelect and still detect which cell is being clicked on?
What is the proper way of working with percentages and DataGridView and dividing by zero..In my code I am attempting to divide two numbers, sometimes one of the numbers is zero..Then I need to add a column to my datagrid, I think i need it to be decimal? So i can sort it later. I had it as a string and everything worked fine excpet i couldnt sort properly.[code]If I change column to Double it handles it fine, then i am not sure how to read the value as a percentage?

I have a datagridview which is bound to a table in a database. In said table, I have a field called Date and a field called Time, among other various fields. By default, I see that VB.NET attempts to help me by formatting the Date and Time columns for me, however I would like to do it my own way. I checked the columns' DefaultCellStyle fields and found them blank. Apparently, its current behavior is defined elsewhere. How would I go about removing the default formatting that VB.NET put in place to make room for my own?
In my form load event I am setting the defaultcellstyle formats. They are not taking hold anyone know why? None of the formatting that is expected in the code after I bind the datatable to the grid is getting done even though the code steps through it

I have a datagridview.in a particular cell of this grid, user has to enter only numeric data. but after user enter data, itshould become concainated with a $ symbol (eg: if user enter 34, the cell value should become $34). And if he/she presses the hyphen ("-") in the key board, the data (ie. $34) should become -$34 and if again presses the hyphen button in key board, the data should become $34.
I have a DataGridView that is showing some weird numerical data. For example, my under lying datatable of the datagridview has 4.69, but the datagridview shows 4.6899999999999999995. What is weird is it doesn't do it for every cell in the column. For example, my underlying datatable has 2.66 and the datagridview cell shows 2.66, which is correct. I should note that the underlying datatable column that contains the numbers is of floating point data type which comes from the database column and the datagridview column is TextBox. When a certain form (containing a datagridview (dgv)) is first loaded, the dgv cell formatting event is triggered by the line
dgv_WorkHistory.DataSource = ds_WorkHistory.Tables(0).DefaultView This successfully adds some background colour to a few cells in the displayed table. After this the next line of code is executed. The problem is that if I then try to load a different table (by choosing one from a listbox), the new table displays OK but without the desired formatting. Why?
Stepping through the code I find first of all that when I click on the listbox the dgv cell formatting event is instantly raised (immediately, even before any code in the listbox click event is executed). Why does clicking on the listbox trigger the cell formatting event?
Then, when execution reaches the line quoted above for the second time (remember it triggered cell formatting the first time round) it doesn't this time trigger it. The next line of code is executed instead. Why has the behaviour changed?
I have a datagridview I am displaying on a form and would like to format one of the columns differently then the available formats. I have a column that is a decimal(18,2) (in the table) named "MyDecimalField". In asp.net I could do this, in the "template field" of a datagrid. math.round(MyDecimalField / 60 , 2)
In VB.net forms I cant figure out how to do that. Basically I need to divide the cell by 60 and round that to 2 decimal places. IE the Cell contains this: 1283.93 I want the user to see this: 21.40 1283.93 / 60 = 21.3988333 then round it to 21.40

I'm trying to format a column of numbers is a datagridview and I'm having some problems. This is the code I'm using: dgv.Columns(5).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "n2" If the number I put in the cell is 100.50, it shows up as 100.00. If I try to edit it back to 100.50, I get a "value was either too large or too small for an Int32" error. The cell also is accepting Char data. I want to format the column so it only accepts numbers in a '#####.##' format.
The situation: I have a datagridview with one column (col1). In the datagrid definition (design view), i have created this row, and set the formatting to C2 (or C0, or C - I tried them all). then, I load my datagrid view pro programmatically :

The datagridView shows the data correctly : 6.99$. When I "spy" on the datagridview.item(0,0), the "Value" property is a Double.
the problem: It don't work if the user manually enter a value : click in the cell, enter a numeric value (let's say 100, without decimal to avoid complexity) and then LEAVE the cell (so no more in EDIT mode). The formating just don't applies. When I "spy" on the datagridview.item(0,0), the "value" property is a STRING. So I guess this is the problem, but how can i do?

It is a few years later and the same issue pops up! The enviroment is 50+ dynamically created DGVs that work properly except for having to format the data supplied as the DataSource to the DGVs Alignment appears to work but formatting does not. The datasources are 1 of 2 sources. 1) a datatable from the program 2) a SQL database. If you format the datatables everything works well. The additon of ValueType had no effectdoes not work

I already exporting contents of my datagridview to excel and word but I need to format one of the column of my datagridview. That column is "Amount". In my datagridview, it displays like this "122234". I want to display all the value in that column in this format: "122,234.00". I already tried to format it to number("N") in my datagridview but when I exported it to excel and word, it shows no format.[code]
