Protect Dll - Simple Dll Which Holds Some Functions - Keep Private
Apr 29, 2009
I made a simple dll which holds some functions I would like to keep private, how can I protect it against other people using it? As it stands all you need to do is add it to resources and it shows all of the functions.
I need to build an application that could run code in private function, based on what user has selected using combobox. For example combo box has three values, One, Two, Three. If user selects one, code written under Private Function One() runs and vise versa.

give me a good resource that explains the difference between a Private, Public, Shared Functions/Sub/Variables? I normally use Public for Subs/Functions inside of Modules I call from other parts of the program. But I'd like to get more of an understanding of how and when to use them. I want as little as impact to a system that is running my programs as possible, so i guess the key here is I'm trying to just get more proficient in my coding.
As I develop code, I often want to unit test some of the building blocks of a class even if they are normally private. If my unit tests are inside the project, I can use "Friend" to accomplish this and still keep the functions private for normal use. But I would rather move my NUnit tests into their own separate project(s). How do I achieve the effe vb.net 2005?

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:
Example (the "@" is the separator):
@ The character The Code End of line A @ 4gh EOL B @ 84!9 EOL
Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code. Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:
 Read any private key file separator = readline(file); while not EOF(file) do tempStr = readline(file);
if for example i have two private sub I declared a local variable on private sub a... is there a way that private sub b could use the variable created on private sub a? Im asking because im in a problem in my app were using global variable is not an option to make the long story short
How can I make a program that holds a dll(Ex: when i press the extract button it extracts it to the specified path)?Well, If it is not worth it, it is not fun - you say programmers are boring but i say they are worth it.
Dim myObject As Something There I defined my variable myObject of type Something. But, as you can see, I am giving it no value yet. Sometime on runtime I want to check if myObject is holding a value or not. I tried this: If myObject <> Nothing Then But apparently I can't do such comparison.
I want to be able to create a custom shape that holds icons. Lets say for simplicity that it is a sqaure. I need the ability to load up to X amount of icons in the square. Lets say I need up to 6 icons. These icons will always be the same. However not all custom shapes will need them. I am assuming that I have to create a custom shape object class. I also want the icons to automatically adjust in size when I change the size of the shape. I am guessing that one way to do this would be to drop a TableLayoutPanel into the shape and then dock it to the shape. Then set the dock property of the icon to the cell that it resides into within the TableLayoutPanel in the shape. The number of rows/columns of the TableLayoutPanel would be predicated on the number of icons needed.
Ok, I want to create a class that will handle a special rectangle graphic. In my form, I want to have two of these special rectangles. So, basically, I need two instances of that class in my form, right?I manage to initialize two, alright. But, how exactly am I supposed to manage drawing/graphics etc in a class, and the results to be displayed in my form?
I have a field in my database that holds dates as strings in this format: dd/MM/yyyy Now I want to load then into a var as dates vb.net Dim dte as date I am having problems with the format. Vb doesn't recognize my date format as a date when I use this for expample:
vb.net Dim strDate as string = "22/05/2010" Dim dte as date dte = CDate(strDate)
i am trying to make a program that holds info in the settings... it holds it in an array so that you can add to it and take away from it... he is the code i have so far....
So far it is just the adding part but im still haveing some problems...
Public Class Form1 Public Function array_use1(ByVal array_string As String, ByVal number As Integer) Dim num_holder As Integer = number
[Code].....
im trying to get this done so i can demonstrate how it works to some friends.
And also note that i dont want you to like write out a bunch of code then tell me its the right way...
I know its .net but i am still using ADODB this is just a sample table, not really what i am doing..I want to take a look at a bunch of records until the customer changes. then i want to have the previous recordset data displayed or passed off to another function how do i set RS2=RS but when i "movenext" RS RS2 still holds the previous record data? [code]
I've been trying to add a database to my interface, and i can't seem to filter the data, i want to search based on last name and only display people with the that last name (the last name will be entered in a search form).I've tried writing SQL Queries but I can't seem to pass the variable that that holds the last name into the SQL Query, to filter the data.
I've made an app with vb 2010, which holds a mainform. On it is a menutoolstrip with button, when I click on that button a second form is opened on a second monitor and the button is being checked (different color).
When I click the button again, it is unchecked, but the form on the second monitor is still open, while it should be closed.
I have a DGV.It has some columns. The columns are in the correct order e.g. 1,2,3,4 at design time. When I start debugging and then come back to VS, the order of the columns have changed and I have to put them back in the correct order everytime. After some testing I have realised it only occurs if
1) I make a change on the form that holds the DGV
2)Leave the form open in VS while I play the application ie. debug.
Let's say I have a custom class called CustomItem that holds the Name and 'SomeProperty' properties:[code]Now, on the click of a Button, I want to select the CustomItem whose SomeProperty is equal to "Property 4". Of course, this is just "Item 4", but the names and properties are not that correlated in the real application than they are in this example.I have spent ages a long time ago figuring out how to do this. I could not directly set the SelectedItem, because I first need to get the CustomItem that actually matches my condition (SomeProperty = "Property 4"). My solution was to use a loop, looping through each item in the ListBox, and setting the SelectedItem when the right property has been found.[code]Now, is this the correct way to approach this problem? Is the LINQ query correct, or can it be done easier, without the casting? Also, is the LINQ query faster than the For loop, especially for a large amount of items? I expect it to be, but I don't know how to test this.
