Jan 25, 2010I read data from a xml file and display all the contents in datagrid view. I want to extract collection of columns with same or similar contents - i.e I have three columns A,B,C and five rows in xml file. In column C, row no. 1,3,5 is filled with 'X's and row no. 2,4 is filled with 'Y's. I want to extract all columns which is related to the Columns C's content 'X'.Right now I am only able to extract one column which is related to X from Column C. How can I fix this ??

That works ok, the problem is when I use the same stored procedure to bind a different dataset to the same grid, it doesn't display the new data, only empty columns from the last dataset that was bound. Apr 1, 2012I'm new to Visual basic (which will be obvious from my question) and am writing program that does various calculations, then displays the results in a list box. the results, however, are all concatenated, end don't each appear on a new line. I tried adding a carriage return/line feed at the end buit the compiler rejected it.
I can't find any examples of creating a list box, and adding multiple entries (one for each time a loop is performed), nor of how to use columns to make the resulting display cosmetically pleasing.

Jan 23, 2012Well I have a list of things I want to search based on multiple points of data...for example Resolution, 3D capable, touchscreen capable....etc....What is the best way for display someone can think of & filtering results by capability, I have none of it typed out, etc...like list of objects & capabilities, etc... alreat...so it can be made any way that is thought to be good(with speed as well) for many different listings...say 1,000 of them & it filters pretty much instantly....reading capabilities & such & the list itself is easy but how can I make a filter(unchecking something brings back things, checking something takes away only since well your adding capabilities to filter selection....I have pictures that can go with items too as well as a name & more information could be given directly with the method or clicking on the picture/item.

May 23, 2011I have a search form on that will be pulling search template queries from a table in the underlying (an Access db on a share). The search form has a calendar control for filtering by date range, a listbox containing the names of the search templates, a second listbox which lists the fields in the selected template, and then some controls which show/hide themselves depending on which field is selected so that the user can pick a field and enter it's unique criteria in the appropriate control for filtering. Below these controls is a DataGrid, which will obviously display the results.
The problem is how to dynamically "transform" this DataGrid to display the selected search template. These templates do not represent tables in the underlying; rather they represent preconstructed SQL queries (stored in a table) which are essentially SELECT queries with joins and no WHERE clause (so they are the results of multiple tables joined together by their keys).
To be honest, I'm having trouble even generating the LINQ queries to represent these template dynamically, but that's not as important, since I can manually translate the SQL queries into LINQ. This is definitely not the preferred method, as the whole point of putting these templates in a table, rather than code, was to allow for future additions without rebuilding/redistributing the application interface.
