Dec 12, 2009I recently put my Visual Basic 2005 onto Virtual XP ( which is a part of Windows 7). Should I put it directly onto Windows 7?

Mar 31, 2009I am developing a game and I want an options window to be used so that the user enters data into this and it carries to the main window instead of being lost. I tried it with my recent program , guess the color , but it did not work the way I thought. I thought that I could assign it to a string in a textbox to a variable and it would carry into the main window...
I want this to happen:
The user begins the program by clicking shortcut
User clicks options in the toolbar
A new window comes onto the screen
In this window the user will select a map size then click ok the verify , radiobuttons used in this example...
Back to the main screen after clicking ok
User clicks new on toolbar to begin game
Game is then playing...
Form1 <<< Form 2
game screen 3x3 button
end turn
Form 1
New game is begun
form 2 appears
3x3 button is pressed*
variable is used to change map (there is only one map for now)*
form2 closes and form1 shows
End turn is clicked
Make A Virtual Map (not Visible To The User) Of The Window Person Is Looking At And Clicking?
May 3, 2009I'm making a program running on background that monitors users button click on a specific program, I need to know where this person is clicking. Is there a way to make a virtual map (not visible to the user) of the window this person is looking at and clicking? I need know where this person is clicking so I can take a specific action and show a result to another monitor output.

Jan 17, 2011I am trying to migrate from XP & Net 2005 to Windows 7 & Net 2010 My intention was to replicate net 2005 first & get projects working before installing net 2010, as I envisaged all sorts of learning tasks which I could resolve at a snaill pace whilst still being able to operate with net 2005
Stage 1 was to load 2005 on Windows 7, no problems yet.
Stage 2 open the Virtual Cryptainer drive
Stage 3 load a project ( was never a problem with XP)
Stage 4 project errors reported as not being able to access linked modules in another folder
Windows 7 seems to have more folder security/permissions than XP, so I altered as many folders being associated with the project but to no avail.By changing the virtual drive folder permissions are they amended on the drive folders (if so how would this affect going back to XP)
are the folder permissions somehow stored in the registry, which means if I restore an old virtual drive from backup, does W7 now know the permissions & apply them to the back up drive, even though those folders were never accessed in W7?By the way, anybody reading this that does not know about Cryptainer, should look at it very seriously, I now have no data files on drive C, & all my data files in the cryptainer vault are compact & virtually impossible to be opened without a password up to 100 char long!
[2005] Position Form2 Directly Under A Control On Form1?
Jan 23, 2009What I'd like to do is position Form2 underneath the Label on Form1 when the "down arrow" button is clicked. (Basically Form2 should have the same "Left" as the Label on Form1, and its "Top" should be the Top of Label1 plus the Height of Label1.) Please see attached images for further clarification. (I did something like this in VB6 with the SetCursorPos API and the Screen.TwipsPerPixelX and Screen.TwipsPerPixelY properties, but I'm sure there is a better way to do this in .NET.)

The problem is that it reduces the window size so that you can only see the title bar and min/max/close buttons. Also, even that does not stay on top of other windows.
I have used this function before on a windows 7 machine (instead of xp which this one is on) and it worked fine.
VS 2005 - Databound - Populate ComboBox To Display Unique Items Directly From The DB
Oct 25, 2009On the form load event i want to populate my ComboBox1 to display unique items directly from the DB. For that i have set the DataSource property of the ComboBox1 to the selected field. On the ComboBox1_SelectionChangeCommitted event i have set the filter for the DataSource which is working fine.
Now when i select an item from the ComboBox1 i get the filtered result in DataGridView but when i again drop down the combobox i see nothing other than the last selected item. Why is this happening? Is there a better way of populating ComboBox with the items directly from DB with default selected value as null?

Mar 8, 2011Trying to debug a Windows application, in the Immediate Window, if I type the following:?UBound( I see a tooltip showing the syntax of UBound, but when I complete the statement as ?UBound(CBa) where CBa is the name of an array, I get the response: Name 'UBound' is not declared. Strangely enough, the UBound function is referenced in the code prior to the breakpoint, and works correctly. Why can't I use it in the Immediate Window? I have the same problem with the Len function, it says it's not declared.

CopyFromScreen(), the form has to be less than 100% Opacity, so CopyFromScreen doesn't include the window in the picture. This also means that when you have more than one open, they see through each other.

Oct 24, 2009So I have this code to make a "windows taskbar". When you click on an item, it's supposed to bring that window to the front. The only problem is that's not happening. When I use Debug.WriteLine, it has the right window title, except it doesn't come to the front. What's wrong? Oct 25, 2009How would i go about making a zoom magnifier window, similar to the one in Snag it?The main form would have a picturebox with a image loaded, a second smaller form would act a as magnifying window, magnifying the image from form1 and refreshing to reflect the new location of the cursor when it is moved across form 1.
Would i need to take a screen shot of a area around the cursor then load it into the second form and refresh the screen shot every time the cursor moves or is there a procedure already to do this?

Mar 16, 2011I seem to have some finger trouble creating a new application, here is what I am trying to do: I am trying to create a new solution and under the solution an exe (console project and a set up / deployment project. I have done this in the past and cannot see to do that any more.
Steps:
1. Create a new solution, the solution show in the solution explorer (with 0 projects)
2. Using "add" I create a console application (under the solution) and it shows a module etc. So far fine.
3. At this point the solution explorer windows only shows the console project and the solution itself (that used to show on the top) is gone. Now I am not able to add another project to my solution. I close my screen and then try to open the solution again. It comes up with the console project.

It works sometimes: when resized only a small amount, it does nothing, but when the image is resized more than that, it jumps to the right position.
