Query - Combo Box Which Contains Names Of Teams That Are Held Within The Database

I'm trying to make a database program in VB 2008 and have come across a problem with a query that I'm not sure how to solve. I have a combo box which contains names of teams that are held within the database, when a team name is selected I have 4 queries that will separate players (in that team) by their position, using this information I will then be able to display information about the players in a collection objects so that it can be edited and what not.
My problem is that I need to be able to refer to the records in the query so that I can assign a players details to objects on the form, I've used a piece of code to do so that I used previously to select individual records from a table, however when I click on a team in the combo box it throws up the error: "Could not format node 'ClientQuery' for execution as SQL.". Not being a particularly experienced VB programmer this error doesn't exactly mean too much to me, although I am not exactly sure of another way to tackle the problem.

PROBLEM: I want to only show specific database records based on serveral combo-box inputs from a user. I'm looking to query an Access database from within a form I've created for viewing simple Jpegs of CAD files and pointcloud data. I've never worked with table adapters, SQL statements, or much in the way of databases before and I'm lost.
Do I add a new query and do what I want from a configuration wizard somehow? That method gave me a toolstrip button with no combo-box.Should the combo-box be bound to the table or should it stand alone?Can this be done without the use of a wizard (purely in an event) I've been told what I'm looking to do is rather simple, I'm just unable to find syntax that has worked for me.

[Code] my issue is that now i need two cases, first i need a query that will return the date created and modified of the table and i also need to know if its possible to query a list of table names in the database ordered by date created but that have a certain thing in their names. for example the database contains the following tables: [Code] and what i need the query to return is the tables that contain "Data", settings and employees are for the other functions of the program. so the query should return the 4 data tables in order of date created. but i have no idea how to go about doing that in the query, does anyone know how this is done?

I need to populate a Combo Box with sheet names in an Excel File. I Have an openfiledialog that i search for the excel file and put the dirPath to a textbox, now i need to populate the ComboBox with the sheets in that file, the idea is so when i select sheet3 in the ComboBox, i can pass that sheet name to the string for processing.

They need a project that will calculate the price for individual orders, as well as a summary for all orders.The store employee will enter the orders in an order form that has text boxes for customer name and order number. To specify the shirts, use a text box for the quantity, radio buttons to select the size (small, medium, large, extra large, and XXL), and check boxes to specify a monogram and/or a pocket. Display the shirt price for the current order and the order total in labels.
Include buttons to add a shirt to an order, clear the current item, complete the order, and display the summary of all orders. Do not allow the summary to display if the current order is not complete. Also, disable the text boxes for customer name and order number after an order is started; enable them again when the user clicks on the button to begin a new order. Confirm the operation before clearing the current order.
When the user adds shirts to an order, validate the quantity, which must be greater than zero. If the entry does not pass the validation, do not perform any calculation but display a message box and allow the user to correct the value. Determine the price of the shirts from the radio buttons and check boxes for the monogram and pockets. Multiply the quantity by the price to determine the extended price, and add to the order total and summary total
The assignment also requires a pop up message "Daily Summary" with total shirts sold, total sales, and average sale per customer.So far I have this as my code but I am not sure what needs to change in order to display the correct total shirts- mine only displays the last accepted shirt order.

I have a csv that I need to parse into a gridview in vb.net. If I do SELECT *, I get the data without issue. However, I am in a situation where I need to reference the actual column names. And problem is, I have no control over the app that generates the csv, and they make the column names enclosed in square brackets.
How the heck can I do something like this:
Dim cmdSelect As New OleDbCommand(SELECT "[name], [height] FROM myTable")
so I get a return of data?
So, in an effort to be perfectly clear: I have an app that creates a csv with the column headers [name] and [height] in a table called myTable, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to return [name] and [height] specifically.

I have a form that queries a database into a dataset then sets textboxes to values from the query. I have a status field I want to be able to control so I created a combo box with typed in values(Active, Inactive, Missing, Broken,Calibration). The purpose of this form is to view the current information on the item and edit if need be. I want to display the current status in the combo box. I can't get the combo box to display the value from the query. How do I do that.

I am trying to use a Linq Query to pull Data from a Dataset and put it into a Combobox. I am getting a Cannot Convert Type String to Boolean Error and I don't understand Why. So Far I have my Linq query pulling Data from the Dataset but I have not been able to get it into the combobox.[code]The portion of code commented out is what I tried before but to no avail. I believe that the error that is occurring, the LINQ query is pulling all the elements not just the VehicleType. I also was wondering how to use the Distinct Keyword in LINQ, from my searches it seems that it should go after my Select Statement in a new Linq, but my SQL Side says thats wrong.

I'm fairly new to visual basic and have a problem that is probably quite easy to solve yet I have been unable to do it so far and am about at wits end.I have an access database with a table that contains a list of cities and states. what i would like to do is to populate a combo box on a vb form with a list of the states in the states column. the query that i have is as follows:
SELECT DISTINCT State from Cities I have previewed the data in the dataset designer and it works, i just can't figure out how to make it fill the combo box. i initially created a table with just all of the states and then used a binding source and table adapter to bind it to the combo box, but if I'm able to figure this out this would help with my application going forward

My program handles XML files that have certain elements within a root-child node that are identical expect for their inner text value. So while populating my combo box with all of a root-child's child element's names I get like five identical items listed. Which brought about the problem of selecting say the third item and getting the value of the first displayed. So I came up with a loop function that determines if the selected combo box item is preceded by one of the same name, if it is, then it adds +1 to a counter variable and keeps checking farther and farther up the list. Once it loops to an item that doesn't have the same name it exits and it reads the Xth (X = counter mentioned earlier) element's inner text from the file. This works great for elements 1, 3, 4, and 5. But not for 2. A while back when I was focused on this problem I discovered the root of the problem but I was unable to circumvent it. I'll put the loop below so you can see the problem in action instead of trying to follow my verbose explanation:

I am connecting to an Access database and using a parameter query with the LIKE operator to return all rows that match query. The string to search for is taken from a Textbox

The query does not return any data in vb, but when run from access with same string, there is data returned.The connection to the database is done correctly, as I am able to return data with various other queries.

I have the following query that executes when my form loads. It's the rowsource for my combo box. The query is fine and populates the combo perfect, however, when i click into the combo box I cannot click out of it or even close the form. I have tried taking out the line of code that fills the form via table adapter on load and it works fine (opening the form unbound by the main table). Has anyone run into this before? I have another combo box on the form setup the exact same way and this is not happening. I've experimented with different datatypes etc....

Well i've been trying to make something run with a lot less code(and faster) but it seems with SendKeys some things are getting lost(or discarded) by the program, its only the arrow keys as I try & make it complete a pre-defined maze to see how fast it can be completed.
If I use SendKeys("RIGHT 8") for example the maze usually only moves a few times, sometimes maybe only 1.
Also I looked up how to hold a key down/simulate it but it's not working for the arrow keys(untested on other keys).
The only way i've made it work is delays, decently delayed like 200ms & it's a huge maze but if i hold a key manually I can go much faster yet sendkeys method can't go that fast using individual presses this is why I want to simulate a holding down action.
---it must be working xample code I can make it work for my purpose if it works like on button click, etc....but I tried copying full (supposedly working) codes before & they never worked for me/my key, xample cause i've looked & tried hard(with only failing results).
MORE INFO:Also I tried SendKeys.SendWait() which is meant to wait for keystrokes to be processed & that didn't help either so my best guess is the keystrokes are processed but discarded(like a movement delay code that doesn't queue movements but rather ignores extra movements)

I have the following code to get the column names from my Microsoft Access database.THE PROBLEM is that the stupid thing orders it alphabetically for me. How do I get it to put the columns in order the way they are in the database?[code]I've also tried a different approach with a string array and for loop to "make it" go to the beginning, but proves my point that its stupid enough to order it for me.

I have about 7,000 files (with temporary file names) that I need to replace with specific file names.
I figure I can match up the temp file names with the needed file names in
access. I'm not sure where to go from there.
I do not have to use a database if there is another way of going about it
but I do not think there is.

I can't seem to get a single form that is held in a dictionary(of integer, <Form>) to create instances passed 229 times.
For instance i can only open 229 instances of the same form. I open and close the form. So technically i open 229 forms and close 228. Any forms opened afterwards give a win32 exception. I clear the the dictionary key upon form close.
I have changed the dictionary declaration to (of long) but get the same issue.
