I made a GIF file by Easy GIF Animator 5.0. The GIF file has 33 frames, with 1/100s per frame. That means the GIF length is 0.33s. However, if I use picturebox (and even view by Windows Picture and Fax viewer) to load that image, it lasts for more than 1.5s. If I use ACD See, it show exacly 0.33s. How can I do like ACD See?

When it startup. It does not show the correct file size "359,833"of this exe instead of a smaller value."20480". Even I define filepath to a real path such as "C:WindowsApplication3.exe" and detect C:WindowsApplication3.exe,'s file size it shows 20480 too. seems something wrong with file.length method. With Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly() also return false value of file length.
I wrote a VB.net console program to process CSV record that come in a text file. I'm using FileHelpers library
along with MSFT Enterprise library 4. To read the record one at the time and insert into the database.
It took about 3 - 4 hours to process 5+ million records on the text file.Is there anyway to speed up the process? Has anyone deal with such large amount of records before and how would you update such records if there is new data to be update?

I have a machine which creates a new log file at the beginning of the day(12am) and updates the log file whenever there is any changes until the end of the day. How do I import the data in real time (30 sec, 1min or whenever there is any changes) to my SQL server database? Will SQL Server 2008 be able to access the active log file? If not will it be easier if I let my machine create a new log file whenever there is any updates? But if it is so, how do I import so many log files with different names in real time. (I must be able to scale the solution up to multiple machines).
View 3 RepliesI have an application that continously records audio for several hours. I want to be able to listen to recorded material but not necessarily in real time. I have tried to just copy the file being recorded to a new file with overwrite and the copy obviously gets done (filesize changes) but when I try to listen to the copied file my player just 'blinks' and nothing more happens. If I however close the recording, the copy also gets playable. My idea is that copying a file in use just creates another file in use. If this is the case how can I close the copied file?

I have an app that reads a directory to get the filenames in a directory for each File in Directory(process file) next file. I want to know if the file size makes a difference to the time it takes to get the filenames.eg if a folder contains 10,000 photos of 1 megapixel and another has a folder of 10,000 photos of 8 megapixels will it take the same time.
View 1 RepliesIt has the ability to recursively grab all .wmv and .mp3 files in any chosen folder, and add them to a playlist.When opening the playlist, my program adds all the songs to an array, then starts adding the songs to a listview, categorizing them by song, artist, album, and genre, using a dll to access the ID3v1 tags on the .mp3 file.It can successfully create playlists of thousands of songs at a somewhat okay speed, the problem is loading that into the categorized listview.It used around 75% of my friend's CPU while loading his 5k+ song playlist into the listview, and it never finished after loading it in for a couple minutes (it auto updates as it loads, because it is done in a new thread.) It never finished because his OS has a bug where, if the CPU usage is over 100% for more then a few mins, it BSOD's, but that's beside the point.
His CPU, by the way, is a quad core 2.33 GHZ processor.The listview loads thousands of songs by using a lot of CPU [low amount of RAM, less then 40MB 99% of the time], and it does it slowly. [code]I've already redone the sub once or twice to speed it up, and at the moment it's 2-3.,

I need to check the test result with the data from database, to find out which test result is failed. If there is a fail test result, I will show an alert to the operator and stop the checking process. Until the operator close the alert, then the checking process will continue from the last read point.
I have a number of word documents I am converting. Everything is going great until I get a file that is read only. In this case I get a Save As prompt.
Is there any way to open the file in read/write format? I should have admin privileges so access isn't an issue.

I have a fairly simple XML file that I just want to read the data from.
