Is it possible to have a Textbox on a form that when the user inputs data, ( during Runtime )that data remains in the Textbox for good and the Textbox then becomes read only ? Is it also possible to make it so that the CD with the programme on, is in the PC when the programme is being used. Perhaps writing the Textbox data back onto the CD ?
I have a LINQ to SQL DataContext with all my tables and all my stored procedures in it. Let me first start off by saying that we are upgrading our project from an access project to a WPF project. So in the Access project you could set a forms datasource to a stored procedure and edit and add new information. So in my WPF project on the page load I call my stored procedure to return an ISingleResult and then call a function to set the binding on every single textbox on the form. One is there an easier way to do this and two what if I want to add a new record since the textbox's are binded to an ISingleResult?
I've a SQL DataSource and a Datagrid in a Web Page. The data grid gets binded automatically when the page is loaded. How do I delay that until click event of a Button.
That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)
I been google search for a while (a month at least). My problem before is how to read raw data from access. however, i find out that access not suitable for my project. I more interested in using Excel, because for later analysis i would came out with graph using excel rather than using access. Since, i been develop a GUI Program for Battery Cyclic Test. The part for Cyclic Test and DAQ Interfacing is done already.
My weakness is not been able to understand/know how to read raw data for particular column, and display it into textbox. In many out there forums or discussion, they explain about this kind of database by using class in VB. But, i would like to implement excel data manipulation in VB-Window Form Application.[code]...
I'm trying to read data from a text file into an array and then loop through all the lines and display it into the textbox, only problem is i want each line on a new line so this is what i have:
[code]...
But that adds a newline to that last line causing a out of bounds error. How do i make it add a newline for each LINE except the last one?
i have a form with one combobox and textbox now on other hand i have a sql database named balance with two column one as customername and and another as obbalance now i had binded all the customer name to the combobox now what i have to do is wen user selects a customername from the combobox the textbox should show the obbalance of the selected?
I started a new project with one form, this form has two comboboxes, combobox1 has datasource (access 2007 database). When I select a value from combobox1 then it sets a datasource on combobox2. Then I click on button to show openFiledialog, it throws exception. "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." I am giving link to check its solution file. If I use database in access 2003 format it works fine!! [URL].
I have a login panel with a textbox for the userloginID. When the login button is clicked, the datasource is supposed to pick up the valkue in the textbox and provide filtered data to the chklistbox dependent of the value in the userloginID textbox.I only connect the datasource to the chklistbox when the login button is clicked, but the app still fal;ls over wit the folowing message:
The Type property of parameter 'UserLogin' cannot be set when the DbType property is set. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review thestack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
I have this controls ComboBox: list of myobject TextBox: view a description DataSource: list(of MyObject) MyObject:
property id as int property combodesctription as string property description as string
What I want: I set the datasource of combobox with list of MyObject when I select a value on combobox, I would like see description in TextBox is it possible bound text property of TextBox to same datasource of combobox or it is possible change description of TextBox only with changedEvent of ComboBox?
I have a list of customers (over 50k) that I am trying to change the way my users search and interact. Presently, they fill in parts of a first name, last name, home phone field(s) and then click a button and it searches and presents a listview list to the user for selection of the one they are trying to find. Fairly straight forward behind the scenes with a customers object making the call to the sql server on the network and returning customer objects as indicated. I want to add a datagridview control and display all customers and then have a textbox for the user to type their selection into and have the datagridview update accordingly.
I want the filter to be dynamic as the user is typing. What I have so far is the datagrid loaded with data and the text box. I also have a stored procedure that takes a string(the text box) and returns the customers collection object as the "new" datasource. But as you are guessing, that is to many calls to the database over the network. Just not very efficient. Once I have the original collection object, how can I filter it dynamically in memory as the user inputs characters into the textbox.
I have a text file that looks like this: 9,1,3,Half,2.20 9,2,9,Half,2.20 9,2,7,Full,3.40 9,2,7,Return,4.20 9,5,2,Half,2.20 How I would sum the last column, all of the numbers in bold, of this text file and then make the result as the DataSource of a Textbox?
I know how to read user input using textbox but it only can read character and numbers. Is it possible that I want to read user input equation?
Example:
User type A+B User put range of A and B. 1.25<A< 3.56 2.45<B< 9.87
I failed to read the equation using textbox. Is it there are other ways that can use to read equation input A+B?I am using VS2005 and VB.Net. I really new in this programming using VB.Net.
I have a sqldatasource with a very simple select statement that should always return one row. I have textboxes on a page that i want to fill with that data from the datasource. how could i do this for textboxes? If there is no data in the database then i want the textboxes to remain empty.[code]....
i am building a database application in vb.net and i started by adding a data source from the DATA in the toolbar. my connection is good and it shows all my tables in the data source panel.
i also see new classes related to my database, like
sakilaDataSet sakilaDataSet.customerDataTable ... and so on.
how do i query and use these ? i googled a lot and i am not able to get this.
Dim cust As sakilaDataSet.customerDataTable = New sakilaDataSet.customerDataTable Dim row() As System.Data.DataRow = cust.Select("customer_id=5") MsgBox(row.Count)
My last try was with the above code, but the row.count always turns out to be zero.
my program has a datalist which list out all the item from datasource and display the detail information on different textbox the problem happened while i click "vitamin a" from datalist, and the "supplier name"will display "daily medicine",then when i click "vitamin b", it will display "sunny medicine",finally when i clicked back "vitamin a", the supplier name still remain "sunny medicine" which mean it does not change from "vitamin b"?
I am using the following code to add a row and data into my datasource.[code]Row # 150 for example, the reason is I want to be able to only add 1 record and if the end user adds another one it overwrites the exisitng one and also be able to retrive that record the next time program is opened.
I took the liberty of creating a small slideshow showing my problem. view it here.

As you can see, I start with an empty data table on the data source. I add information to a form and the data appears on other parts of the program through data bound list boxes and such. I can exit debugging mode and re-enter it, and the data is still available.
However, the data is NOT actually added to the data source's table.
If I modify the program at all, the data that is floating around disappears.
I do not understand why this is happening. Apparently I need some kind of code to tell it to write permanently but I have no idea how to go about it. This is something I've been fighting with for over a week. I cannot find any solid information about this online at all.
creating an application using VB 2010 Express. i found data I entered into table were not saved (after I clicked"Save" button)successfully into Microsoft access file which I had added successfully as datasource. These are the codes:
