I can't figure out how to refresh the combobox on my main form after I have added or deleted an item to the table that populates the combobox. I use a separate form to add, change and delete items in the combobox table. I have tried different suggestions that I have found on the subject on the web. Nothing seams to work... Here is what I have right now that does not work.

But Visual Studio tells me that there's no such method, and when I type it in manually I get an error saying that RefreshList is not a member of System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.

The card numbers are in a combobox (which are retreived from an SQL database using the DataAdapter), and each card has a boolean 'confiscated' field in the database.

I have a databound combobox that displays a list of items, and I have a windows form that opens after clicking a button that allows me to make changes to the table that the combobox gets it's values from. When I make the changes and save them (successfully) and return to the parent window, the changes aren't reflected in the combobox. If I exit the app and launch it again the changes are reflected perfectly. I've tried me.combobox.refresh() on the forms GotFocus event, but no luck.

It does actually set the card to confiscated after the 3 tries, however I'd like the form to 'refresh' so the card no longer appears in the combobox, without having to close down the form and reload it. Is there a way to do this? I've tried refreshing the combobox and data adapter (.Refresh) but this does nothing
I am trying to create and remove a series of controls programatically. The user will have a numeric updown to pick a number. The program will then create a bunch of duplicate controls based on whatever number they pick on the fly.

The creation part works just fine.As the number is toggled upward a new label is created.However whenever I remove labels it acts very strangely.The first time I bring it down it works just fine. Then the next 3 do nothing but the 4th removes another line.I can also toggle back and forth and it will eventually remove the label. So for example.
Starts with 1 selected - 1 label visible (1)
Change to 2 - 2 labels visible (1-2)
Change to 3 - 3 labels visible (1-3)[code]....
If I toggle back and forth between 2 and 3 eventually label 4 will go away.I want only 1- my numeric up down value to be displayed and have everything else after that removed.
I can't figure out whats the best code for deleting a record from the database using combobox in VB.Net. the navigation of my combobox works fine.. when i click the dropdownlist of my combobox and select another name, the selected row on my grid also displays records the same as what is seen in my navigation boxes.... but the problem is when i am going to delete the records.

Here is the photo after clicking the delete button. It delete the entire selected rows except the selected column Name, instead the first row column "Name" record is deleted and the second row column "Name" replace to it.

The code works fine , it saves the data i`ve enterd in the textboxes , but in order to view the changes in the table i need to restart my application to see the changes.

What i want to do is to insert the records selected by my datagridview checkboxcolumn and IF POSSIBLE automatically delete a record if the records to be inserted are equal to the records inside the database. I have a bindingnavigator within the form, when i use the save & delete buttons on the bindingnavigator toolbar they seem to work but when i check my db nothing has changed. My project involves making a table database that displays student number, surname, first name, homeroom, and grade avg. Through SQL commands, there must be functions to add, update, delete, search by field, and save records to the database.I have already set the database up just fine and displayed it in a DataGridView. Through the DataGridView, I was able to go to the "Add Query" area, and I successfully made the queries necessary for searching by field. However, when I try to do anything other than a search using the query builder (ie start my SQL command with INSERT INTO or DELETE FROM), I ultimately get the message "Failed to get schema for this query"For example, this SQL code (to add an entry to the database) worked when I was in the Query Builder (and the entry that it made is still in the database), but when I finally tried to confirm it, I got the "Failed to get schema for this query" message.Being unable to add entries to the database this way, I tried to do it with textboxes on a form. Each textbox will have one of the fields, and at the click of a button, they would be put into the table. My code is below. I do not know what is wrong withit. When I run it, my fields do not appear on the DataGridView immediately, but I must run the program again to see it. The time after, the entry is gone. So I am not sure how exactly such entries are to be saved.

I want the combobox to update when changes are made to the dataset.I thought i read soewhere that it is supposed to do that on its own when bound to a dataset but I don't see it happening.Now I am having to refill the combobox from the updated dataset.Is there a way to get that to work?

I have a webpage with a form that is used to edit some object. This object contains a Collection of other objects defined like this: Public Overridable Property Employees As List(Of Employee)
On a form I can delete an employee, add a new one or modify existing one. When I click save new values are sent to the server. On a server I check if the user exists. If exists then I modify its values, if it does not exist then I add it. All employees that exist on the server and were not sent are marked as deleted (State changed to EntityState.Deleted). I try to use the following code (dbCollection = database entities, newCollection = collection sent from the form):

This code does not work, because changing to EntityState.Deleted removes the object from collection, and for each loop breaks, since the collection is modified...I know that I can overcome this problem by using a for loop or adding objects to delete to some other list first, but I hope maybe there is a pattern that would make my code nicer.
Is it possible that when a new line (anywhere in a richtextbox) is added/deleted, then a line is also added/deleted in another richtextbox?

I've this very stupid litle problem. I want to populate a combobox with numbers ranging from 00 to 99. But when I ad them with a loop as an integer the first ten numbers apear only with one digit.I wonder, how can I ad a second digit to them like; 00, 01, 02... and so on without me typing the whole list?

Through some research, I've come up empty handed. I found a few tutorials that dealt with tons of class files, which I'm not really familiar with, didn't understand much, and then didn't work. View 7 RepliesI have an Access database with a Parts table. I'm using tableadapters in my project. A datagridview on my form is filled manually in code. One column of the DGV contains a columntype of combobox. I've got a bindingsource on my form whose source is the Parts tableadapter. The combobox column is tied to the bindingsource and is displaying fldDescription.
The part descriptions can be changed by the users, but the original part description is saved in another table that is used to fill the grid. If part "widget" gets changed to "widget, large" I can no longer display "widget" in the combobox of the grid. I need to know how to be able to add it to the bindingsource so I can display it in the combobox. I don't want it saved to the Parts table though.
I am creating an application install program, but one of the main things i cannot get working is the combobox, this is a drop down list of all my applications that i have put in there. I was wondering if there was a way you could tell the combobox to look at a directory or share and list the names of files within it? So, for example i could place 5 programs inside a share or directory then when i run the program and the click the drop down combo the 5 programs are listed and then i can click and install this program. Also then if i add/remove any programs it also removes it from the combo list.
