I am trying (Push)add data into my stack (length of five) and (Pop)delete from the end of my stack.
I need to know how can:
- Add the elements to the stack with keeping track of adding and deleting from it (adding an element will increment until 5 and deleting would decrement until the stack is empty).

I am trying to add (Push) whatever the user enters in (MyStack) into 5 different labels that should show the (UserResponse). The problem is I don't know how to display each element in a different label. For example:
- The first element that the user enters (UserResponse) should be in Label1
- The second element that the user enters (UserResponse) should be in Label2 etc.... up to label5.
Also, when I press (Pop) the elements should disappear (Last in first out).

I have two combo boxes, and four buttons. When the user clicks "Add" on the first combo box, it adds a new item to the combo box with "New" and then lets the user rename that item to something else. That "new" item has to have an array of "answers" that go along with that item in the list. What I'm having trouble figuring out is assigning "answers" to the second combobox for each item in the first combobox and changing the second combobox when selecting an item in the first combobox.
EXAMPLE:
Item 1 - Combobox1
- Item 1 - Combobox2
- Item 2 - Combobox2

I want to know if the user clicked on the Ellipse (just the line of nonfilled ellipse)? I don't care if the click inside of it,JUST the LINE. I made a copy of the orgianal rectangle info before drawing it. And then I tried .contains on the mouse click? and that allows me to click everywhere

I am trying to create a quiz application in Visual Basic 2008. I need to be able to store a score value when the player gets a correct answer. When the value is stored a new question set appears. Once the score is calculated I want to be able to show this is in a new form so the value needs to be passed from one form to the other. I'm not entirely sure how to do this but I believe it will incorporate a module.

Suppose i want to draw semi-random ellipses on my form.Is there any way i can check if they get clicked at a later stage?Is there any way of storing the location of individual ellipses and then comparing the mouse-click to my list of locations to see if one was clicked?
I can imagine how it could be done with squares or rectangles, but i dont know how to approach it with ellipses.
Im sure this has been asked before, but i've spent a good while searching around for something i can use and came up emptyhanded.

I have a WPF application that allows users to create questions of all different types which depending on the type will use a textbox,combobox,checkboxes, or radio buttons to allow the user to answer the question after they build some sort of questionnaire. My question is what is the best way to keep track of the answers across all the different controls after the controls are created and the questionnaire is created on the fly. Right now, i'm looping through all the containers and getting the values based on the controlType.

I am trying to create and remove a series of controls programatically. The user will have a numeric updown to pick a number. The program will then create a bunch of duplicate controls based on whatever number they pick on the fly.

The creation part works just fine.As the number is toggled upward a new label is created.However whenever I remove labels it acts very strangely.The first time I bring it down it works just fine. Then the next 3 do nothing but the 4th removes another line.I can also toggle back and forth and it will eventually remove the label. So for example.
Starts with 1 selected - 1 label visible (1)
Change to 2 - 2 labels visible (1-2)
Change to 3 - 3 labels visible (1-3)[code]....
If I toggle back and forth between 2 and 3 eventually label 4 will go away.I want only 1- my numeric up down value to be displayed and have everything else after that removed.

I am trying to keep track of the total number of discounts given (whole numbers) I keep getting .75 after the first discount, and it adds .75 for every trans action after that. I have tried to pick it apart but I just don't see it. You can follow by tracking the comments that relate to the summary. I know that is an Integer but the book has it declared as a decimal so I went with it.

I am building a sort of 'lightweight' Visual Studio, and I'm trying to implement the feature where you can drag tabs to different 'tab groups', viewing multiple tabs side by side.
I got nearly everything working, I show a ContextMenuStrip when you rightclick the tab headers, with the option of creating a new (horizontal or vertical) Tab Group. When that happens, a new TabControl is added dynamically and the selected tab is moved there. You can drag the tabs around inside a TabControl and even from one to another.
The problem now is keeping track of the 'active' tab. Since I have multiple TabControls (not just two, there can be as many as you want theoretically), their SelectedTab properties are basically useless. How am I to determine which TabControl the user is currently working in? Obviously I will always have multiple selected tabs, but only one active tab, in which the user is currently typing, editing, whatever.I need to know the active tab for obvious reasons: many menu and toolbar items act on the active tab for example. A short explanation of my controls:I have one TabGroupContainer control, which inherits UserControl. I have a TabGroup control, which inherits TabControl.I have a Tab control, which inherits TabPage.
The TabGroupContainer holds a collection of TabGroups (to which I dynamically add/remove TabGroups when required). Now I want the TabGroupContainer control to have the ActiveTab property which returns the one and only active tab (out of possibly many selected tabs).The only logical way is to keep track of the tab that was selected last, for every TabGroup.
At the moment, I am doing this:
- In the TabGroup (TabControl) class, I shadow the SelectedTab property (and return a Tab instead of a TabPage). More importantly, in the property setter, I raise a SelectedTabChanged event:

However, it still doesn't work. I soon figured out why: I am checking that the previously SelectedTab is not the same as the new value in the property setter of the (shadowed) SelectedTab property. I don't raise the event when they were the same, and in this case they were the same (as there is only one tab in the TabGroup!).So, I took that check out, and now it seems to work when I click in the text editor.
So one problem remains: the active tab is not changed when you click on the tab header (and not on the text editor). I am clueless as to how I should handle this... I am once again sure there is a simple fix, but I cannot see it. I can click the tab header, and I'm sure behind the hood it responds to this click, but it never raises it SelectedIndexChanged event because the index didn't change but was set to the same value it already had. I cannot override the SelectedIndex property (so I could skip this check and raise the event anyway even if the value didn't change), and the OnSelectedIndexChanged method is not called, so I cannot use that either...

I am just starting VB at 60 years old and with no programming experience and nobody to ask for help...except here, of course. So needless to say I am hitting brickwalls. I am using "Murach's Visual Basic 2008" and it seems to be a good book. This is what I am up to I have to declare an array with 5 elements with an index. I think that part is OK. Then add code that adds each element to the next one every time a user clicks a button. I have had many tries but the best I can get is just the grand total of the elements. Is anyone able to show me how the button click would reveal a progressive total of the elements each time a user clicked on it? It would be good if the book came with answers or had a forum for their readers.

I have an array x in size of objects (between 1 and 100) and I want to increase the size to 101 ... I've resized the array and that adds the objects but unfortunatly (not suprising) the added items have not been initialised, do I've reverted to using a do while loop and adding the elements indiviually, but looking at the code around it where addrange is used extensivily, I was just wondering if that was a neat vb.net way of doing the same thing
Bit of a learning question, just looking for neat ways to do the same thing

I have some combo boxes on a form and I want to add some elements into them . Practically I have to add "1" , "2" ..... "100" .
I can use this code :
ComboBoxMY.Items.Add("1")
ComboBoxMY.Items.Add("2")
...
ComboBoxMY.Items.Add("100")
but this will take too many lines . Of course I can accept that , but I just wonder if I could write them with less code .

So I have a dropdown setup on the page called ddlVehicleType that is populated from a store. This method gets called when another dropdown is changed, and it's supposed to remove all items from the aforementioned store, re-add them as needed, and then populate the dropdown with the new values.
It's doing everything it's supposed to EXCEPT clearing the store before it re-adds the values, so the result is, when I switch, I'm getting what it used to be PLUS the new values that should be in there by themselves.[code]...

I have a data table in a loop that adds rows on each loop. During the loop i collect an array of unknown size. I can't figure out how to refresh the combobox on my main form after I have added or deleted an item to the table that populates the combobox. I use a separate form to add, change and delete items in the combobox table. I have tried different suggestions that I have found on the subject on the web. Nothing seams to work... I have just a form in my VB.Net project and even when I try debugging that - there is nothing going on besides the form being loaded - I get the error: No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. The source code cannot be displayed.

I am trying to automate with Coded UI . Now it runs fine but when an abrupt modal window / exception window appears , it halts and tries to act on it but this was not part of recording. I want to track when this modal window appears and then kill the AUT [ application that is being automated upon ].This will at-least prevent users from watching screen w/o any progress.

I have records in my datagridview (from database(ms sql server 2008 r2)). What i want to do is to insert the records selected by my datagridview checkboxcolumn and IF POSSIBLE automatically delete a record if the records to be inserted are equal to the records inside the database. (Hoping you got what I want to say.) For example. I have an A,B,C(child) that is under XXX(parent) in my database and I'll be inserting the A,B(child) again but it will be under YYY(parent). I have a form with textbox controls that are bound to the database. I have a bindingnavigator within the form, when i use the save & delete buttons on the bindingnavigator toolbar they seem to work but when i check my db nothing has changed. I want to find a way to speed up this code.if you look at the condition of If calculated Then in the code below, this is what slowing down the code.While the code provided seem fast with Const initBit = 4 try it with something over 12.
I want to be able to use this code (with calculated param as True) with initBit of 20 or more.
Beware that 20 or more might require a gig or more of ram and/or compiled as x64.

My project involves making a table database that displays student number, surname, first name, homeroom, and grade avg. Through SQL commands, there must be functions to add, update, delete, search by field, and save records to the database.I have already set the database up just fine and displayed it in a DataGridView. Through the DataGridView, I was able to go to the "Add Query" area, and I successfully made the queries necessary for searching by field. However, when I try to do anything other than a search using the query builder (ie start my SQL command with INSERT INTO or DELETE FROM), I ultimately get the message "Failed to get schema for this query"For example, this SQL code (to add an entry to the database) worked when I was in the Query Builder (and the entry that it made is still in the database), but when I finally tried to confirm it, I got the "Failed to get schema for this query" message.Being unable to add entries to the database this way, I tried to do it with textboxes on a form. Each textbox will have one of the fields, and at the click of a button, they would be put into the table. My code is below. I do not know what is wrong withit. When I run it, my fields do not appear on the DataGridView immediately, but I must run the program again to see it. The time after, the entry is gone. So I am not sure how exactly such entries are to be saved.
