Feb 26, 2010I know how to remove duplicates in an array (have a simple function for that) but now I was trying to do the same in a matches collection and I can't get anything to work somehow.
In this case the matches collection has a few duplicates that I want to remove.

Sep 1, 2009I want to remove duplicate values from a string using VB.NET. If values = "3,40,15,109,15" then I need the end result to be "3,40,15,109". I'm using the code below but receiving the error message 'Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String' and I'm not sure how to proceed.

Jun 20, 2012i use csv file to populate my dgv. now i wanna eliminate duplicates from my dgv. i knew it could be done using unique datatable. but i wanna eliminate it from dgv not from the dataset or datatable.to understand it in better way- i wanna check column1 if the vales in column 1 are repeated then the entire row must be deleted i.e the duplicate row must be deleted( if column 1 has 2 duplicate values then 1 row must be deleted)

May 7, 2010I have run into this problem a number of times, and I am not sure what I might be doing wrong - or if this is just a bug, or not going to work.I have a collection that I setup on my own (eg, collection class). I then cycle a Log file that has text entires and I read those, and then parse the entry and attempt to add it to my collection.
But as each entry is added, ALL records just get duplicated - in other words, as I add entry 2, both entrys 1 AND 2 wind up with the same values - as I add 3, all 3 entries get the same value - and this continues no matter how many entries. For example,
if I added 100 entries, I would have 100 duplicates of the last record added.I have stepped through the debugger and watched this occur and just cannot figure out why this is not working as it should. Here is the code...

Feb 10, 2012Depending on the data being used, I can have up 10,000 items in each of the 2 ListBoxs. I need to find and remove any Duplicates between the 2.I am currently using the method of select and Item from Listbox1 and search in Listbox2. If I find a match, then remove both items. This goes back and forth until all the duplicates have been removed. This take some time.Currently have the code in Old VB6 and VB2008 Express.

Nov 22, 2006I have 10 items in the listview.I have 10 Object of this 10 items in the collection.I want to loop through the collection then remove the items from listview. The index of the items is stored in the 10 objects, and static unchanged.If I use for each loop, once the items has been removed, the index of every item in the listview will changed.(when you remove an item in the listview, the next line item will get shift up a row)How am I going to fix this? if using for each loop, some of them items will not get deleted.Or is it possible to do a "Do Loop" or "Backward For loop" for a type collection?

Mar 25, 2012I am trying to find duplicates in a string. The code works more than I would. The purpose is to create a jagged array with values and positions like this one:
myString = "1123464263948465475965069068547363532627281901"
jagged= {{{1},{0,1,42,45}},{{2},{2,7,36,38,40}},{{3},{3,9,31,33,35}},{{4},{4,6,11,13,16,29}},.........}
Value Positions
1 0,1,42,45
2 2,7,36,38,40
3 3,9,31,33,35
4 4,6,11,13,16,29 ......... and so on with unique keys and multiple or not values.
My code do this, but looping all over the string there a moment when it repeats values and positions, because already found them earlier. How do I make to keep just the UNIQUES? How do I skip the loop when the value is already in?

Loop Causes Duplicates In String
Aug 21, 2009I have for-next loop that loops 6 times around before exiting. Each time it loops it adds a small number and a space to a string so I end up with a string containing 6 numbers separated by spaces. Whats ends up happening is I get "555 555 666 666 777 777" when I should get "444 555 666 777 888 999". I know for sure it isn't the code that generates or applies the numbers because when you put a messagebox.show at the end of the loop it works perfectly, so it seems to me something is happening to quickly but showing the message box every loop gives it time to catch up. What can I do here?

Dec 23, 2010I have a datagridview with two columns a text box and a combo box. I can add to the combo box collection but can't determine how to remove part of a collection. Example combobox has 10 items as follows: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
I only want to show a number 1-10 when another label has the same associated number.I have 10 labels named 1-10 but I only want the combobox to display a number 1-10 when the corresponding label has been selected previously. So, if labels 1-5 have been selected by the user than I want to have my dgv combobox to display only 1-5 and remove 6-10. I have searched but have not been able to find a similar post.
