Sep 27, 2011So I am using a user to run the following code that is a member of the "User" group on a Windows 7, x64 machine. I am trying to use impersonation (by logging in as a user that is part of the Administrator group) to allow the current user to read from the registry. For some reason the login happens successfully but even though WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent() is returning the user that is part of the Administrator group I am still getting an error message saying "Requested registry access is not allowed". What am I doing wrong? This is the main code:

Nov 24, 2009When writing to an Access file with one of the fields indexed (NO dupes allowed), I am getting the following message in the Immediate Window "A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in System.Data.dll", when I enter a dupe.
I have put in a TRY, CATCH to catch the error and display a msgbox with the error. Is this message in the IMMEDIATE WINDOW just a warning message (generated by access), or is there something wrong with my actual program? My program does not actually crash, it seems to be working great.

The problem is that I can only drag one file at a time into the app. If I try to drag more, it only ees the first file and ignores the others. I use the My.Application.CommandLineArgs array to access the command arguments. For example, My.Application.CommandLineArgs.Item(1) will open the file. If I change the registry entry to:"C:Program Filesmyapp.exe" "%1" "%2" "%3"This will open the first two files, but ignore the rest. If I change the registry entry to "C:Program Filesmyapp.exe" "%1" "%2" "%3" "%4"This will have the same behavior as the previous entry and ignore all but the first two files.

I installed VS2008 and VS2010 (also Pro) on the new PC. The source is stored on a server on our network. When I tried to open the project with VS2008 on the new Win 7 I got the following message:The project location is not trusted:

We are 4 people working on the same project on different machine.
Now every one code the project from the own system stored locally
But i want all of us to be working on the same project located at one placed.
So that every one's work is synchronised..
Currently We are using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.
But we dont have Team Server

Jun 15, 2009I am trying to get into some programming so have installed Visual Basic Express 2008 on an Vista Home Premium machine and can not get started at all.
When I open a new project (FILE>>New Project) I get some "visual Studio installed templates" Whenever I try any of them eg console application or Windows Forms application I get an error dialog box "Exception of type "System.Exception" was thrown.
I assume it is the templates that are not compatable or corrupted but I dont seem to be able to start without using the template.if it is the template or something else or how to start without using one of the installed templates?

Dec 22, 2010I got a legacy solution targeting .net framework 2.0. When I open the properties - Compile tab of the VB projects in VS2008 or 2010, the VS always crashes. Other C# legacy projects are working.I am using windows 7 64 bit. (It's working in the xp mode.)

Opening Project After Moving Files To New Computer?
Dec 4, 2010I am having trouble opening my vb.net 2005 project from a backed up copy on a hard drive. The original files are on my old XP computer which I no longer have access to. I am trying to open the project in vb.net 2010 on Win7. I have converted the project to vb.net 2010 and when I open the file, nothing shows up, when I try to open them, it tells me the form isn't found in the project directory because it's been moved or deleted. I know that the software on the hard drive didn't back up .exe files, I'm not sure if it did back up other kinds of files. I don't want to restart the project because I've spent over a year on it and have written over 3000 lines of code on it.
