VS 2010 Resize A Bitmap Without Creating A New One?
Jun 15, 2012I have 6 bitmaps, all the same size. Their ImageFormat is Format32bppPArgb. Sometimes when I try to resize the bitmaps I get the Out of Memory message. This doesn't happen all the time, only after about six or seven resizes.In Task Manager, the program's memory use never goes above 800k.Is there a way to resize a Bitmap without creating a new one?If I have to recreate the Bitmap, do I need to dispose the current one (or set it to Nothing)?

Jun 23, 2011I am working on watermarking image.
In the below code I load the image to the graphics path using resource image and adding text on it. When I add the image through open file dialog it paints on the form with original size but I need to resize it, add it to the PictureBox, add text to it and give zoom and pan options to it and then I need to save with the original size.
When I resize and when save the image I endi up with a small image.

Execution stops when hitting the Dim cloneBitmap statement, which should have created a bitmap out of the rectangle cut out.The message is:

Jan 10, 2012I'm starting work updating an UI for one of my company's applications and I'm running into a sticky issue. The parent control contains several panels, each of which can be turned on or off depending on user input.
The final panel in the user control contains another user control which gets resizes according to a toggle switch. Essentially, it "opens" up more information.
While the child control (ChildControl) is docked to Fill inside the parent control (ParentControl), when I add height to ChildControl I can't get ParentControl's height to get updated as well. Currently I'm handling the ChildControl.Layout event in ParentControl but I can't seem to reach that code. To resize ChildControl, I'm calling Me.Height += 200 in ChildControl.vb.

I thought the best way to implement this was to somehow paint an overlay on top of the whole form with some gradient light gray color. But it seems like using the Form Paint event paints under all child controls. Is there a way to achieve this effect? I think I have seen somewhere else where some sort of snapshot is taken of the whole form and converted to grayscale but I need the form to be sizeable still.

I have figured out, or think to have figured out, that the new way of doing arcs and lines does not require the HDC, so that problem is solved. The problem I am having now is that with the new way, every example I have found created a sub that does the drawings, like:

Is there anyway to pass values to this sub? I have to draw several arcs and lines and the values for them are different everytime. I would like to create a sub that would be used in every spot the old program used the old arc command and pass the needed values through it.
Save As BMP / JPG Or PNG In Paint Application?
Jul 4, 2009I've used this example to create a paint application in vb express 2008, however the example can only open and save .pic files! How can I make it so that my application can open and save a commonly used image type, such as bmp, jpeg or png? I would imagine it can't be that hard, just saving what has been drawn in the picturebox into an image file, or loading an image into the picturebox.
I have tried to make a load event by using some simple code I've made:

With some slight modification, I managed to make it so that the position of the bitmap can change based on key strokes.However, for some reason, it only does this once.
