VS 2010 Resize A Bitmap Without Creating A New One?
Jun 15, 2012
I have 6 bitmaps, all the same size. Their ImageFormat is Format32bppPArgb. Sometimes when I try to resize the bitmaps I get the Out of Memory message. This doesn't happen all the time, only after about six or seven resizes. In Task Manager, the program's memory use never goes above 800k.Is there a way to resize a Bitmap without creating a new one?If I have to recreate the Bitmap, do I need to dispose the current one (or set it to Nothing)?
In the below code I load the image to the graphics path using resource image and adding text on it. When I add the image through open file dialog it paints on the form with original size but I need to resize it, add it to the PictureBox, add text to it and give zoom and pan options to it and then I need to save with the original size.
When I resize and when save the image I endi up with a small image.
Here is my code:
Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel Imports System.Drawing.Drawing2D Public Class Form1
I am trying to create 5 Bitmaps 'on the fly' which I want to use in a ToolStrip DropDown. So far I have found a working way but I wonder if there isn't an easier way to do that? The reason why I have to create this images 'on the fly' is because users can select different colors for the Categories (which I have managed with Button(x).BackColor, so, in order to have the Menu Items shown the exact same colors I try to get a Bitmap based on the Button's back color and add it as MenuItem picture. Here is my code to create the images:
Public Sub MenuCategoryImages() Dim menuPic1 As Bitmap = New Bitmap(24, 24, PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) Dim pal1 As ColorPalette = menuPic1.Palette
Is there a way in Visual Basic 2008/Framework 2.0 to create and save a 8bits bitmap(Format8bppIndexed) to a .GIF file using custom colors(about 30) instead of the standard web colors?
If not, is there a way to convert a 24bits or 32bits bitmap to a 8bits bitmap using custom colors?
if there is a quick way of creating a new blank bitmap say 1680x1050 - just wondering cause i want to make a live animation that is this big ... but when looping this it is fairly slow while doing this...I have tried:
New method: Dim B as new bitmap(1680,1050)
Create once then clone:
Static NewB as new bitmap(1680,1050) Dim B as bitmap = NewB.Clone[code]....
All of the above are about as slow as each other...
The Vb.Net application creates a bitmap from scratch and either converts to a tiff or sends it to a printer. In both cases, the quality of the image (in this case the font) is not good at all. The sample code listed below creates the graphics object that I use to write to the image.
Dim gr2 As Graphics = Graphics.FromImage(New Bitmap(800, 1000), Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppPArgb))
I'm using Bitmap to show picture box like slideshow using Timer. For each timer interval, I've to go for new instance of Bitmap, there System memory increases to 1MB, How to resolve this, 'BG is picture box
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tic Dim img As Bitmap
img = New Bitmap(System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(FileIO.FileSystem.GetFiles
how can i create a monochrome bitmap from a semi transparent bitmap in vb.net? the bmp is for a transparency mask image for an icon i'm trying to create with the CreateIconIndirect API function.
i'm using vb2008 .Net3.5, but i would prefer an answer that would also work in vb2005
Imports System.Drawing Imports System.Drawing.Imaging Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click [Code] ...... I am using this, however I get a GDI+ Unhandled Error.
I have scanned a few img's on 600 DPI. When i load them into a Bitmap class They have Vertical and Horizontal Resolution of 96 PPI To my calculation that is very close to 38 Pixels per centimeter. Now the image that I scanned is 4.5 Centimeter (1.77165354 Inch) In Diameter but When I measure It the 4.5 cm img is close to 1080 pixel in Diameter which is 240 Pixels/Centimeter (609.6 Pixels/inch) What is the correct way to get the actual Pixels per inch/centimeter from a bitmap or was it set incorrectly by my scanner ?
I'm looking to make a program that would capture your whole screen, then have the picture display on the screen (simulating a frozen screen) to where the person handling the program could select a partial segment of the screen with their mouse and then save to a folder. 1. I have no idea how to go by doing this 2. My form is constantly minimized, so I have to do it without MouseDown on the form and whatnot. How would I go by doing this?
I am trying to make an application that can do effects to images but the problem is when I use large photos its takes a very very long time. I am reading it per pixel with bitmap's GetPixel and SetPixel methods. Is there anyway to make this process faster without using C# or C++?
I'm trying to create a DLL with some useful methods and subs for my use. But when I tried declaring an object for Form or using the keyword Screen, Bitmap, etc.. gives an error saying that "The type 'Screen' is not defined" and like that..
I was wondering how to draw characters/string on a bitmap. For example: I have created a new Bitmap with resolution of 200x200. Now using Graphics.DrawString(), I have to draw text. I can draw text. But my question is, I want to fill it the image with that string.Say, the text be "abc".So, the output would look like this for 200x200 bitmap (assumption):
In my user control you can load an image into a Bitmap type, it then displays the image onto the usercontrol. However, it works fine with .gif format images, but when i use .png it seems to make the image bigger than what it is.

How can I resize a window? I've done it by using GetProcessName and MoveWindow, but with MoveWindow it doesn't work on different operating systems/computers. what would be an alternative?
I have a form where i load an image to a picturebox. I open a dialog to prompt the user to grab a file and once that is done i pull the image into a picturebox. Now i want to resize all incoming images but.... because of how it affects my ability to draw lines in the picturebox i am restricted to leaving the picturebox size mode set to normal. So i set out to write a resizing function.
The issue i am having is that eventhough i pass the function an image. I get the Height and with from the image object and it appears that i should be tripping some of my IF/Then statements ... neither Scl or Scl2 ever gets set which in turn keeps nw_height and nw_width from setting themselves properly.
All 4 of those variables stay 0 at all times and im not sure why.
I have a grass image located here in my directory. I want to just create a Bitmap, but I am getting an error. (Parameter is not valid.) Immediate Window: A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in System.Drawing.dll
I created so many listviews in my project, that im too lazy to add to each listview a resize event with percentages. Is there any other trick, who just scales the columns so as they are?
I'm starting work updating an UI for one of my company's applications and I'm running into a sticky issue. The parent control contains several panels, each of which can be turned on or off depending on user input.
The final panel in the user control contains another user control which gets resizes according to a toggle switch. Essentially, it "opens" up more information.
While the child control (ChildControl) is docked to Fill inside the parent control (ParentControl), when I add height to ChildControl I can't get ParentControl's height to get updated as well. Currently I'm handling the ChildControl.Layout event in ParentControl but I can't seem to reach that code. To resize ChildControl, I'm calling Me.Height += 200 in ChildControl.vb.
Is it possible to resize my controls on my form when I run it? The problem I have is that I have created a windows application which has a maximize state on all forms but on some machines my controls go missing (mostly on widescreen laptops). Ideally some way of resizing my controls would probably be best? So is that possible?
If btnExpand.Checked = True Then Do While Me.Width < 860 Me.Width = Me.Width + 10
[Code]....
the code does what it's supposed to do and the end result is as expected. However.. when I use this code.. my form starts to flicker during the expanding process. I have a custom background set. And you can really see it stretching out as it's supposed to, but the entire form flashes white , black , white , black and I can see horizontal lines between the form aswell. perhaps a command like, System.Screenupdating = false ?
Im so in to webbrowsers in vb2010 and i need help with a problem. The problem is when i resize my form my buttons wont size so my buttons just dissapear. i need help to make when i resize the form my buttons will resize to.
I have a user control where in the user control that there are 3 other controls for the PictureBox, button1 and button2.for the PictureBox control I want to resize when the user control in he will change length and width.button1 and button2 whereas only change in the position left alone.I include the following examples in resize images before and after.
Where is the best place to resize a control on a form when a form is resized?....I'm currently using the Form1_SizeChanged event and seems to work ok. Also is there any need to check in the forms resize event if the form is in a minimized state before resizing controls?.,.. in VB6 if you try to resize a control when the form is minimized you get an error, but I don't see that happening in BV10 Form1_SizeChanged event, does VB10 automatically ignore resizing controls when a form is minimized or something?
