I have web service on server! This service is calling from the clients applications!Now how i can get user name and computer name of clients that using this service, for example if application from Clint1 calling this service i want to get computer name and user name of Clint1?
View 3 RepliesFinally got to the point of having a work webservice using php and nusoap. I can retrieve values and send. Now what I want to do retrieve multiple values into a data grid, I think. What I want to do is retrieve various messages specific to that user. At the moment I retrieve values individually but as there may be more than one result I assume the datagrid may be the way forward. Now the question is how can I retrieve this information. Currently my data returns in the following format.
name.Text = returnData.name
From a .NET application, how do I consume a Web Service developed using gSoap c/C++ library? I can create a C/C++ client using gSoap library to consume the web service. But I need to consume it from within a .NET (C#) application. I tried Adding a Web Reference but that doesn't seem to work. Would I need to work with raw Soap Packets?

I checked the property of objProxy, it is having basic http binding as the property. Anyone invoked the service like this? From soapui, the response is fine, after i populate the request fields.How can i enable the trace to see what is the request going and where is the problem.
I have a vb.net baseclass in a dll in my c# project. I created a derived class in c#. I fill the C# class with all its properties, including the base properties from the vb class. Now I send them through a webservice (c# ) to a jQuery client. But on the client I only see the vb properties?

Just found out that if I remove the vb.net class, all the properties are showing fine from the C# class. Also found out that the vb.net is declared like this:

Implements IContentItem
Could it be the dictionary or the interface? (Which sums up the properties I was seeing).
I have written a vb.net app that runs in multiple hospital networks. THe vb client periodically contacts a off-site webservice for datatransfers.The issue I am getting at a particular hospital is that the client PC's are not on the hospital's domain. So they are sort of off the radar. They do use the hospital network for internet access. When the user opens a web browser they are asked for domain
userid and password. If not are provided then they cannot proceed. What do I need to do with my vb.net code to make the webserver calls prompt for and use the proper domain user id and password?

I am building a client in VB.net for calling webservices methods from a partner organisation.[URL]../system.web.services.protocols.soaphttpclientprotocol%28v=VS.71%29.aspx because I can't get it to work using the Web References feature of Visual Studio 2010 (when I try to do that it turns the methods from the WSDL into classes).I have created a proxy class and can instantiate an object of that class no problem.
However, when I try to call a method which requires arguments I get this error:
Unmarshalling Error: unexpected element (uri:"http://api.service.apimember.emailvision.com/", local:"key"). Expected elements are <{}key>,<{}login>,<{}pwd> Does anyone have any idea why this might be? (If it's helpful I can post my code and the location of the WSDL.) (P.S. I can get the whole thing to work fine in PHP using ZF Soap classes, but for various reasons I need to get it to work using .Net)
Edit to add: I have used Wireshark to examine the outgoing and incoming SOAP message to compare them with the messages being sent via SoapUI, where it all works fine.What this has shown is that my VB client is sending a message where the namespace of the web service I am trying to access is declared as an attribute of the method, and not in the soap:envelope attributes.

Currently, in my web application I have a listbox that gets populated client side (via java script) with a set of ids -- we'll call this page 1. Server side, I am populating a variable with the ids and passing it through a query string to another page -- we'll call it page 2. Now, I have a previous button on page2 which allows me to go to page 1. I'm trying to figure out how to repopulate the listbox on page 1 with the values previously selected. I was thinking of just storing the set of ids in a session variable and using it client side to repopulate the list box. Can anyone advise on how to access a session variable client side? View 2 RepliesI have a 3rd party webservice (happens to be a peoplesoft EIP service) that I'm trying to call from .net. I've tried using a service reference and the old web reference to call this service and every time I call it I get a response of "nothing" back from the service.
I've ran the service call through SoapUI and it works fine. I've captured the network traffic using Fiddler and notice that when i call the service from SoapUi or from .Net I get the same resulting xml back from the call. So that means the call is working. I've turned on tracing and logging within WCF and I'm not seeing any errors. Nor is it throwing an exception.
So my theory is that .net is having a hard time translating the xml from the service back into a .net object.

I run a server for a project of mine. The clients invoke an Update check function running as a webservice at start-up. These requests are logged to file. I use the following function to log to file:

O_O How can this be returned? Is this normal? Is this possible? How can the request have originated from localhost (127.0.0.1) and at the same time from a remote IP-address? Was the server hacked? how to create a client/server... But I couldn't... I don't want anything fancy. Just want the client to send the server 4 numbers, depending on the user's choice; after that, the server would turn off the pc, restart it, etc. It all depends on the number received. View 1 RepliesI wrote a program in VB2005. It is a program that is supposed to run in a client computer accessing an MS Access .mdb file stored in the server. The program itself is stored and run in the clients computer. I am not good in networking at all. The way I do it now is:
1. Have a directory made in the server to hold the MS Access .mdb file, and have the directory to be shared.
2. Have the same directory accessed and mapped in the client computer (say to Z:)
3. Then have the program in the client computer simply access the database as if it is in the same computer (as the directory already mapped into the client computer). In the VB 2005, this is done when we set the connection string of the database connection.
However, my user is complaining that by doing so, the database is basically exposed to the operator of the client computer (through the mapped directory), hence more vunerable for any bad intentions from persons who may have access to the client computer but not the server. He insists that he used to have a program that does exactly the same thing like my program, but the database is shielded in the server, where it cannot be seen in the client computer (I have other people who confirm that this can be done, though they can't tell me how, since they are not programmers themselves). Now, I have no idea on how to connect a database that way, and I don't even know where to start looking.
I have converted a Windows Forms VS2003 application to VS2005 and then to VS2008. It includes a setup project for deploying on the client computer (the regular installer, not click once). It works fine when I run it on my computer, either in VS or if I install using the setup installer. But when I install it on the client computer and then try to run it, I immediately get a System.InvalidOperation exception. I put in debug code before my code but it fails before it gets to any of my code. Both computers are XP. The client comptuter actually has VS2003, though it is not used.
I have tried it with either the 2.0 framework or the 3.5 framework (and included those as prerequisities) but neither makes a difference (and I did set that in the Launch conditions, as well as in the Advanced Compile Options). The application uses CrytalReports for VS.
I don't think I can run JIT debugging on the user computer due to permission issues. Are there any other debugging things I can try to narrow this down or has anyone encountered this.
For example if application crashes can i get a report or a email explaining the crash from the client's computer.
View 3 RepliesThis is the situation: i have the central location with the main computer,and 14 distanced locations connected in VPN and often we need to update program manually (on distanced locations) by overwriting the existing .dll-s of the program and this is pain in the ass to connect remotely to 14 locations and on each workstation overwrite the .dll files so i want to create application which is going to be installed on each WS and by running this app it will check the program folder on central computer and if there is any file with newer version then existing one on the WS it will copy it from central computer and overwrite the old file/s on WS. It is a small app with two buttons and progress bar but the main thing is the Update now button because i dont�t know which commands it should commit.
