I have an application where I read a text file into a richtextbox and I am searching for an especific string then I should get the line number where the string is located, but I am getting a wrong result. Got to be something with my code and I can't findwhat's wrong.

I use Fileystemwatcher to watch a certain folder on our network share and wan't to count the lines in a textbox. I have 2 richtextboxes, the first one will display the line number and the second one displays the change/deleted/renamed file. I am able to display the total of lines in a label, but also want to show the line numbers in a richtextbox, but the problem is that it adds the number to the current, it needs to add the number on a new line.

I am using a richtextbox, just I always used it so I just call it a textbox.
I'm working on an app in which the user copy and pastes from a website into a richtextbox then the program uses the phone number, name and "match by string" from the richtexbox. What is copied is like an Excel table type thing but all the data is in Column "A". The data isn't tab deliminated. If i split on spaces then that will give incorrect results since some of the pieces of data have spaces in them. It looks like I'm about to do some really nasty ugly coding to get to the values I need. take a look at this snippet of data and tell me of a graceful way of getting the name, phone number and that last value in the line if such coding exists? This is the info I would need to pickup on in the first row of data. SHEKITA LLOYD, (xxx) 956-80, and Non-Payment of premium.

I ran into a situation where FindControl was returning a control that wasn't a complete match of the Id I was searching by. There are two controls in the parentcontrol with similar Ids like: "MyControl" and "MyControlAlternate". When I call FindControl("MyControl") the control returned is "MyControlAlternate". I was wondering if anyone had any explaination why or thoughts as to what might be causing this problem. The way I got around this was implementing my own version of FindControl.

The following code selects a line ina richtextbox. It works OK expect from one problem:
When a line is biger than the size of the richtextbox, it wraps it. This create a big problem as I can not select the last line of the richtextbox (when a line is wrapped it becomes two lines). When I set wordwrap to off it works just fine

It is stuck at 4 I don't know why. However, I've created a recordset from the query used to create the graph and the DAO fields are right. I tried to refresh the graph, close it and open it, reboot. My graph displays properly with the right data but I can't set the colors like I want and it is the most important part of it because I am plotting rock codes.
View 1 RepliesI am new to programming.I am making a coin tossing program for class.It is telling me I need to create a separate method that doesn't take any arguments and only returns false for tails and true heads.Not sure if a function or a sub returns only that type of data. Also once the code is returned I can then add that to a CONST to keep a running total.If the method only returns true or false do I need to put the code in buttonclick sub to post the image of the coin in the picturebox using a if then statement? Would I also need to add the code for the print out of the statistics after the if then statement? Not asking for code just a step in the right direction.

View 5 RepliesI need to have multiple lines in a cell, so I use DataGridViewTextBoxColumn.DefaultCellStyle.WrapMode =DataGridViewTriState.True. I add columns (datagridviewtextboxcolumn) in designer. Then bound datagridview to a table which has exact the same columns as datagridview. Then I find that datagridview has duplicate columns: the first column is empty (which I guess is added through designer), the second column is filled with data from table. My question is how to correctly allow multi-lines and bound to a table at the same time?

I have having problems with the code listed below. I'm trying to re-call the name of a product from a table when I know the productID which is the primary key but i'm getting court up as the primary keys do not match thier row numbers e.g. product with an id of 10 may be on row 2 so when I run my program i get the product name of the product on row 10 not on row 2. The database I'm using is microsoft trial database NorthWind. The rest of the code calculates the number, value and sum of the order.
