Sample Project Not Working?

I downloaded some VB 2008 sample project from the net.Initially they seemed to run fine. But then they stopped running. They fall over when an attempt is made to connect to the northwind database. The error messge says something like "the sql or sql express and the northwind database has to be installed ". Which of course they are .
One possible reason that the code stopped working is that I tried to move the SQL on my Pc from one drive to another ( I moved it to another hard drive using cut and paste ). When I realise the Vb code had stopped working I simply reversed the above procedure, i.e cut and pasted back to the original drive.I think I should also add that there any different versions of sql on my PC, and I think the one that I cut and pasted is not the one used by the sample project.

I am hoping that somebody here is familiar with the book, "Doing Objects with Visual Basic 2005" so this question makes more sense but I will try and ask it in a way that makes knowledge of the book irrelevant.The book contains a sample project that I am trying to use as a "framework" for all my new projects. The project shows you how to read and edit objects to and from a database and that part works great. The author then leaves the new and deletes up to the reader to do, which is a good way to learn. However I am having trouble with the it. My problem is that I am having trouble implementing my own ProcessNew InterfaceI think this is how it should be:

I have tried to find the sdk ('Windows Software Development Kit') mentioned in the 'GIF Encoder and Decoder Sample', but there are so many SDKs I can't find the one I need. I am using visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition on Windows XP. The language I program in is VB. Can someone point me to the right SDKs for the sample and OS and VS version?

When I'm adding project reference to a project in VS2010, VS is unable to refer it in the project,
but when I'm adding the dll path (by browse), VS is getting the reference and project is working fine.
I'm using VS2010 professional edition and both the projects are in .NET Framework 4.0.

I have tried to publish my program. For the time being, no errors when save or do anything. Then again, when I check the database (Ms Access 2007) that is being used, there is no data in there.
My program is to capture image. The image is captured in put in folder but no data at all in my database. How to solve this?
I have setup Build = content and copytooutputdirectory = copy if newer.

Im new to VB 08 and i made a project that runs fine when i debug from inside the VB solution explorer. When i go to my BIN folder and try to run my project, the project runs but the button event seems to be none exsisten, also my message box does not appear on load, it should give an ERROR message if it does not detect the process writen in the module.

I'm currently starting work on my first windows service and I've encountered what I find to be a strange error. For some reason the compiler is telling me that a whole bunch of typical classes (such as Image, Bitmap, Graphics, etc) do not exist. For example, these simple lines of code, which work perfectly in a normal project, return a bunch of errors:
Bitmap b = new Bitmap(destWidth, destHeight); //Error 13 The type or namespace name 'Bitmap' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)b); //Error 17 The type or namespace name 'Image' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

when you start a new projekt, vs2010 makes a new folder for the projekt. when i reach a certain point in my projekt i want to save that version of the projekt.
what i do is make a new folder and copy that projekt to it. projektfolder2 . when i start the projekt in the new folder the sln doesnt work anymore. the vbproj works then. and vs 2010 makes a new sln file one directory down of the old one between the other
projekt files.

I'm working on a project that is based on modules and plug-ins. Any of these modules might alter some part of a database in various ways. One module might write or edit one table, while another module might write or edit other tables.
The modules all communicate via events raised on a common object. Therefore, when a person using module A enters a certain change that would edit data managed by module A, the module raises a Proposed Edit event such that all other modules that might be affected by the edit will have a chance to accept or reject the edit. If no module rejects the edit, then module A makes its changes and raises an Edit event, at which time all the other modules make any changes they need to make.
That's the basic pattern, but there's a problem. If I don't share a transaction during the edit, then module A can successfully edit their tables, but module B might fail to edit their table. In some cases, the failure by B should rollback the changes made by A. Therefore, it would make sense for module A to share an open transaction for all the other modules to use while making their changes, and this gets either committed or rolled back, depending on whether everyone was successful, or not.
The problem with that design is that a person could write a new module C that had a bug which caused it to fail to update correctly. That would cause it to signal that the transaction failed, such that all the other modules, which had been working up to that point, would no longer work because this new module kept canceling the transactions. In other words, the modularity of the program has now been lost. Every module depends entirely on every other module that even cares about its data.
In most cases, what would be lost if certain modules failed would be minor, whereas what would be lost if other modules failed would be catastrophic, as there would be no way to re-create the lost data with any kind of ease.As long as this explanation is, it may not be sufficient. At least it might start a discussion. Do the actions of all the modules act in the same transaction, or should they be left to succeed or fail on their own?

I have no code specifically for this part of my project just saying this ahead of time.I have not used text files that are inside my project but I want to be able to open the file when I load my form and save it when I close my form.I know how to save manualy and same with opening but that defeats the purpose this has to do as much as possible on its own.All I have are code from a project I made a while back which was a notepad program.[code]however I need this to all happen on its own and it needs to install these text files with the program hence why they are in with the project there are about 30 text files that will need to be with it so if I can get help with one then I can figure the rest out.

I don't know why or how but my project just turned into a not working system with hundreds of warnings... I didn't touch any of the assembly or anything that could do this and I don't have a clue. I am trying to use the keydown/keyup events with buttons in the same project and it not working properly. I have 4 red boxes and when I press an arrow key the box should change to green according to which arrow key it corrosponds to. I have this part working fine, however only when there is nothing else in the project. When I add in say 3 buttons, Button1, Button2, Button3 and try runing the program instead of the correct red box changing to green, button outline just moves between buttons 1,2 and 3. I have tried turning tabstop off for the three buttons but that didnt work. how to read the keydown/keyup while still having buttions that can be pressed with a mouse?

For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
