Save File In Resources To Local?
Jan 11, 2011I have a file in my resources in visual basic 2010, when the user clicks a button i want the file to be saved on the c drive.How can i do this?the file is not a txt file.

Feb 5, 2010I'm sort of new to the vb 2008, and I would like to be able to send a file to another computer and save it on the local drive. Doesn't have to be in any certain folder, but just on the c drive. I know for the old visual basic you would use winsock for this, but in 2008, they have removed it. What and how will I do this. There will be no program on the user's computer. This is done all from one computer sending to another with no program listening on it. This computer is on my network with network sharing, so I can just do like a \computernameorIPaddress and open send the file that way.

Dec 29, 2009I have a simple windows Forms application where in I have a usercontrol called "MyControl" derived from PictureBox.
In this MyControl, I have the following code :

Me.BackgroundImage = My.Resources.MyImage 'This is a project resource image

Now when I drag and drop this MyControl into a form, I get the image and also those stuff. But the problem is that the BackgroundImage is being copied into the Form's local .resx file.So when I look into the form.designer file, I find the following :
Me.MyControl1.BackgroundImage = CType(resources.GetObject("MyControl1.BackgroundImage"), System.Drawing.Image)
This is a problem and also when I try to change the image in the control, it does not get reflected in the form's control instance.

May 24, 2012I'm trying to save a setting that keeps what background image I'm currently using.If it's an external file, there is no problem, i can just get the .location and set it in a String setting to store it.
But, if I want to store an image resource as a setting, how do i do it?I know i can store rawdata, like bitmap information, but then i can't set that type of data to the my.background.
I don't know if the question should be: "how do i reference resources", but the my.resources.resource.methodsList doesnt contain anything that seems to be of use.

Compare File From Server Then Update Local File
Jun 9, 2012I'm making a game in Gamemaker and i'm using VS2010 to create a launcher for it. The launcher works like the Minecraft launcher:
it has to check a file from my server, then compare it to the local file, and if they aren't the same, the launcher has to re-download the game.exe from the server.
This all has to happen when i click play. To make the game start i use
Process.Start(My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory & "\game.exe") i've put the game in the solution explorer.
put 'copy to output directory' to 'copy always'. i appareantly had to do that according to a tutorial to launch game.exe. Now, as i've said, i'm quitte new to VS 2010.

VS 2010 :: Make An Application To Save Images [or Download Images] To Local Hard Disk
Aug 12, 2010I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?
