My first time and first post here.I am trying to change specific registry key values (to enable fast user shutdown), but I get an error message when I try this. I will hopefully be implementing a number of the TweakUI functions, but in my own representation.
[Code]...
and I get the following error message:
"The specified RegistryKeyPermissionCheck value is invalid. Parameter name: mode"
(I've changed the Security.AccessControl options but none of them are suitable)
I've only been using VB 2008 for about 4 months now, and had no coding expereince prior to this
Trying to read key "HKLMSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsU pdateAU" value "AUOptions" and get the following : A first chance exception of type 'System.Security.SecurityException' occurred in mscorlib.dll Error occurs in ReadRegistry key SOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdate AU : Requested registry access is not allowed. This occurs in my vb.net application when application is run under an account called OPER in the USERS group. The application :
1/is on my PC's hard drive, its not a web app or on a network share
2/is launched via a desktop click
3/ has a manifest specifying executionlevel "AsInvoker"
It does not occur when the Application is run as an Administrator. It does not occur if I read the value with a non .NET program when logged in as OPER whch makes me think it is a .NET problem not a registry permissions problem. Examining "Effective Permissions" shows that my OPER login has query value permission.I need the application to be able to read the key like the non .NET application while running at USERS level.
I wrote an application to manage several installers and I wanted to throw in some registry settings as well. Unfortunately the following code is not writing to the registry, nor is it returning any exceptions.I'm running Visual Basic 2010 Express as administrator using Windows 7 64 bit, I can manually add the values, and I can add them from a .reg file manually but not even by calling the .reg file as a new process (it asks for permission, says it succeeded, but nothing changed). The key already exists, all I need to do is add two values.
first of all i want you to know guys that im not good in English, sorry if my English is bad hope you can understand me:) Im working an application that has a function to change the TCP/IP,, and my plan is change the tcp/ip in the registry i found how to change it in: HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\
I'm using VB.NET with visual studio 2010. For the life of me I can't seem to change/write a registry dword value under the hkey_local_machinesoftware. I do have the UAC to require the program to run as admin.
I am trying to change the DWORD value in a specific registry path. It starts with the user who is entering the value in decimal into a text box. Then with the click of a button, the application takes that value and change the existing value of the DWORD to the new one typed into the text box. I think I have manage to get it to work with "strings" but I seem to get stuck when it comes to the DWORD key. I have a feeling it have something to do with the hexadecimal value which is set by default. Do I need to create a converter?
Is there any way I can open a registry file that is not from the local machine? I have the software and system files from another PC and need to create a small code to read and get values from the files. The other PC is down and I just have the registry files so I ruled out the OpenRemoteSubKey method. However, the My.Computer.Registry.GetValue only works on the local machine.
i have problem with searching key value in registry I have that
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim itm As ListViewItem Dim root As RegistryKey Dim searchkey As String = TextBox1.Text
[code].....
But on line: For Each valueName As String In root.GetValueNames, it says: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
i want to make a program that will 'clean' up a computer, so far i can make it delete temp files, clear history, empty the recycle bin, even startup windows disk defrag... basic stuff like that Now i want it to go into windows registry and add some preset values, for example: HKEY_CURRENT_USER // Control Panel // Desktop // MenuShowDelay is by default 400, but i want to set it to 200 or something...i would also need the program to figure out which OS the computer is running (xp/vista/7) and only use the appropriate key and value,
I have tried to solve this myself and I know I am probably doing something really silly here what I have is two different registry values that control what is displayed in the combobox on my form RegistryKey1 has the following values:0,1 or it does not existRegistryKey2 has the following values2,3, or 4 the combobox has the following values 0,1,2,3 However here is the problem if the RegistryKey2 is 2 then it further has to be checked if RegistryKey1 is either 0,1 or does not exist
if it is 1 then the selectedindex = 0 if it is 0 or does not exist then the selectedindex = 1 if RegistryKey2 is 3 then the selectedindex = 2
This time i'm tring to work with registry values and so i'm using the following code Private Function RegKeyExists(ByVal hKey As Long, ByVal sKeyPath As String) As Boolean
In my datagridview, I want to be able to change the value of comboBox1 depending on what the user selects in comboBox2 I had this working correctly, however if I move onto a new line in my gridview and select a different value in the second row it changes the previous row also.In the below code the correct values are generated in the combo boxs, however when I move onto a new line in my datagridview and choose a different value from my comboBox I get this error:
"The Following exception occurred in the DataGridView System.ArgumentException: DataGridViewComboBoxCell value is not valid To replace this default dialog please handle the DataError event." Private Sub Expenses_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.TblCompanyTypeTableAdapter1.Fill(Me.Exp_testDataSet10.tblCompanyType)
I would like to get applications that run on start up as show them in a list box (Name Value & Data Value). The registry key where the information is stored is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun. I have wrote code before the gets the subkey values and list them but I'm having trouble remembering how.
I am a newbie so please forgive me if my terminology is incorrect.I am trying to Update a Registry sub key value. I have done this a few times before with success. But this time is kinda different. I noticed a few things, like the sub key value is in HEX when I export the key (The value that I want to input is from a sub key that I exported) I can only get the registry to accept the command if I do not specify the registry value kind, but that doesn't do me any good if its not the correct value kind.
What im trying to achieve is editing the value of this key; But I've tried everything i can think of.. I've tried just entering the name and type etc. but nothing..I've decalred:
Imports Microsoft.Win32 and the code im attempting to use: Dim regKey As RegistryKey
[code]....
What i want it to do is create a key from the Drive Selection box i.e. 'H' then create two sub keys called 'DefaultIcon' and 'DefaultLabel' and assign values to their (Default) key but its not working.
I have little MD5 Check Sum app, and I want if i click on some file in the entire Windows OS, with right button, in the context menu there to be a button "Check MD5 Sum". Like when you install WinRar, the app assign values there for archive, and extracting.
The out put of the variable count stays at 1 so the output stays at (Pick # 1 of 6) and doesnt increment at all and does not build the OutPut string
'IF The LottoNumber Location Value is 0 in the Array selectedLotto THEN mark it by making the Loacation Value to 1 If selectedLotto(LottoNumber) = 0 Then
I want to loop through a databale and change the values of a specific column in that datatable.eg: the database returns Request_ID, Desc, Date and Status_Ind. The Status_Ind column contains integer values. I dont want to show the integer values to the user. I want to convert that to a string value based on the integer values returned in that columns.
Im trying to check to see if a value of a label changes over time. however I can't seem to get it right.
dim val1 as string dim val2 as string private sub form1_load() dim val1 = label1.text end sub
[Code]...
problem is it will only check it once after ten seconds when the timer is set to 10 seconds i need to to check it every 10 seconds becuase these values display altitude, and if the server freezes the altitudes dont change. I need to make sure they are updated and not frozen.
I'm writing a program to help me understand 3d points and how computers manipulate them to 2d. Every time I run the conversion routine in my program the value I passed to it get's manipulated even though I use the ByVal key word. Here is the code in process order , tell me if I missed something here ?
[Code]...
There is a status box for me to check one of the values :> This is the flow of what I have put together so far. The problem is once I run the program everytime I press the up key to make a call to the GetPoints method the value in MyPoint is changed to reflect the forumula in the getpoints method. I explicitly used ByVal in my variables on the method call so the values in the variable would not be manipulated. I've changed it many times but I can't seem to get the method to run where it does the conversion without manipulating the values in MyPoint. I've done similar things in visual basic .net 2003 , Now I am using the visual basic .net 2008 express edition. I don't if there is a difference in the two or some unknown bug.
I have one hour format datetimepicker and other short format datetimepicker. When I select an hour from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM want to change the current day to the day before. I tryed to - 1 day but doesn't work or maybe isn't the correct way to do it.my error says operator '-' is not defined for types 'Date' and integer
here's my
Dim hora As Date Dim fecha As Date hora = Me.dtpHora.Value fecha = CStr(Me.dtpFecha.Value)
I have an array of structs and each struct contains values for the checkboxes. I am trying to display the checkbox values contained within a particular struct.
MyStruct is an array of structs which has a values for the checkboxes
ChkBoxCol is the collection of check boxes for the form.
I am iterating through the collection as follows:
[Code]...
What I am noticing is that if the check boxes are checked in order (checkbox 1, 2, 3, 4...etc) the code works fine and the values are displayed correctly in the form. However, if the check boxes are not checked in order (4, 5, 7...etc) the code does not write the values of the check boxes and instead keeps them blank. I just need to display the values for the check boxes for a specific struct.
I am working on a way to change either the x or y value of a point and am getting an error while doing so. the code i am using to do this is the following:pts(currentNo - 2).X = pts(currentNo - 2).X - 10pts is a list of Points and currentNo is merely a count that im using to track where i am in the list. I am getting the following error
I have a program which will search the entire registry for a keyword and display all the matching keys/values in a listview. The user can then select the desired keys/values and delete them. Since this a program that deals with registry, I want to give the users a way to backup the registry before they do the delete operation. I would like to know what is the best approach for this.
3 questions here: 1- Should I backup the entire registry ? 2- Should I backup only the keys/values that the user has selected in the listview ? 3 - Can I have the sample code or appropriate URL's which describes this.
I have a project due tonight and suddenly 2 of my datagridviews are acting funky while the others are fine.
I have 2 tables in an sqlce db. the first is books(id, title, copyright) and the next is publisher(id, name, bookid). I'm writing a vb.net frontend to access the data.
I have data bound datagridviews for both tables. Both have their respective ID columns hidden. The publisher dgv uses a combobox cell style to display the book title in the bookid column. So far so good.
I have suddenly run into a problem where if I have clicked in a cell on the books dgv and then click a cell on another row, the title changes to the id value. The publisher dgv also updates to show the id instead of the title.
It sounds to me like there may be a problem with the booktableadapter or bookbindingsource, but I don't know where to start looking for it. I have a 3rd dgv referencing an unrelated table, and it has no problems. The code for both the working and problematic dgvs are the same (only the control names are different).
