Send XML File Error 'Data At The Root Level Is Invalid. Line 1, Position 39'

I am attempting to send my XML file through an API. I have done this no problem by using the below code, however when I try and send the FILE over it will not work, I am now getting in the browser:
Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 39.
Without trying to send FILE it works:

I am trying to learn how to read XML file and created a little program below to start testing what I have read but keep getting error "Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1"The line where the error is coming from is the line "xmldoc.LoadXml(strFile)".. any ideas?

Here is my problem: I developed one application in VB.Net in VS 2008 Express Edition on MS Vista. I published the application and created the installation setup. Now when I install this application on any Vista machine, it runs without any problems, but if I install it on an XP machine, the installation is clean, but when I launch the application, it ends abruptly without any warnings/error just after the splash screen.
Then to investigate further what I did was that I copied the source project from my VS 2008 Express Edition on Vista to an XP machine having full (VS 2008 Team System) version , and when I try to compile it there (XP/VS2008 Full), I get one error in one of the forms resx file. Incidently this is the same form that gets loaded after the splash screen. So I see there is some correlation between my application ending just after the splash screen and failing to compile the main form of the application. The error that I get reads like: "Invalid resx file. The parameter is incorrect Line 1374, position 5."

I'm reading a text file with StreamReader, line by line. If a condition is met, then I do an operation and then start reading the file again from the first line. I realize I could close and then re-open the file, but surely this would be very slow.
I could do this easily in VB6, but pulling my hair out trying to do this in vB.net. It seems that 'Seek' is the function to use, but it doesn't work.
I've seen other examples, where it works, but you must open it a different way -- with a file number.

I have a procedure that should produce a valid UTF8 string or file. The Form Designer in the IDE is no longer working properly. When I create a new project, the Form Designer will work, but after I save it and close the IDE and reopen the next day the Form Designer no longer shows the form and instead says "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: An Error occurred while parsing EntityName.Line 2, position 62" If I click ignore and continue, then it just displays a blank form with no controls. The problem appears to have started after I unistalled and reinstalled VB2008 Express.

I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I have a Folder Dialog Browser added in my form and I call it when the user presses a button. The folder path string is stored in a string variable and displayed as text in a text box. (maybe I should use a combo box)
My question is: If the user inputs by hand a non existent path, how do I return an error message, stop the file creation into the invalid path, and return to my main form?

I am trying to open an Excel file using the following commands:

where 'filename' is the name of the file.However I am getting the following error message:

I originally developed an application where I used the above code with default language setting of "English" (under regional and language settings). When I am changing the language setting to "French", the above errror comes up. I have a delete button in a datagridview. The button works fine however when there is nothing to delete it throws an index out of range exception. I am trying to create a program that downloads audio files via FTP, converts the audio to mp2 if necessary and copies them to a certain directory for consumption by our automation system. (I am a radio station engineer.)I am using the open source converter FFMpeg to convert audio files to mp2. This is a command line exectuted program. Here is the command line that I use to execute the external program with the input and output audio files at the root level: cmd.exe /k ""C:New Folderffmpeg.exe" -i "C:Test.mp3" -y "C:Test.mp2"" This command line works correctly whether I am using Shell() or System.Diagnostics.Process (Process) to execute the external program. I am going the Process route so I can know when the conversion has finished.Now, I really don't want to use the root directory for this but when I go below root with this line using Process the external program will not execute:[code]Can anyone tell me why that line will not work with Process though it works as expected with Shell()? I can't figure out how to stop the external program to get some feedback as to what its problem is.

Much to my disappointment I recently discovered that VB can not calculate the cube root (or any odd root) of a negative number even though it is a real answer.For instance if you tryMsgBox((-1)^(1/3))You should get -1 because -1*-1*-1 = -1. But no, VB will return NaN, not a number.Anyways, my problem is that I'm making a graph program and the user needs to be allowed to enter any formula they want and have it evaluated so the program can graph it. But if the user enters anything with x^(1/3) or like it, it will fail.So I was wondering if anyone knows of a way around this problem, such as an extension or patch or something that will fix the issue in Visual Basic. I haven't tried VB 2010 but does anyone know if they have they fixed it yet in that version?
